An Alpha's Rejection

Chapter 7

“Emily?” love and confusion filled is voice,

"Hi Dad, it's nice to finally meet you" I smiled awkwardly at him,

“Wait! What are you doing here?” My Father looks more confused,

“I’ve come looking for you, I need answers that have been hidden from me my entire life! I need to know who I am, where I come from!” I said, irritation lacing my words slightly, as he is also to blame for the lies,

“Wait, this is Emily?” the young man asked.

“Yes, does your Mother know you’re here?” he enquired,

“No, she doesn’t but she’s the reason I am”.

“Okay, in which case I think we should have this conversation in a more private place don’t you?” he motioned us to follow him, I didn’t question him, as long as he’s honest I won’t have a problem with him.

“Men continue your patrol, I’ll deal with you later, as for you Nate come with us” Roman commanded, the wolves ran off and the man who I now know as Nate waited with us while sienna and Vince shifted back and changed into some clothes.

It took us about 20 minutes to get there, when we did the pack house was massive, it looked beautiful, when we got inside the décor was modern, there were wolves everywhere giving us funny looks, sienna and Vince stuck to my side like glue.

“You okay Sweetheart?” Vince whispered, I just looked at him and nodded, he held my hand and squeezed for reassurance, I felt sienna take my other hand and we continued to walk through house till we got to his office.

Two older men about my father’s age were already waiting inside, my father gestured for us to take a seat then he spoke,

“Emily, I would like to introduce you to my Beta Will and my Gamma Elijah”.

“Hello” I nodded at them, they smiled politely at me, then Roman continued,

“And you have already had the pleasure of meeting Nate, he is Will’s son”.

Now it makes sense why his wolf has blue eyes he a beta wolf, I looked over at Nate, he smiled looking me up and down, now I that I have a chance to properly look at him, he is really attractive, he’s tall about 6’2”, well-built green eyes, with pure black hair, he looked early to mid-20’s, after a couple of seconds of staring Roman then continued,

“We were expecting one more to arrive which is Elijah's son Oliver but he’s just finishing up some pack work, so for now Will, Elijah and Nate I’d like you to meet my Daughter Emily” he announced proudly, I couldn't help but smile, I looked around the room everyone facial expression wasn’t one of shock but of warmth and happiness.

“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you Emily” Will spoke first,

“Yes, it is, you have no idea how much your father goes on about you” Elijah joked, my Father just rolled his eyes, now I know where I get that habit from, I giggle.

“I’m sorry for earlier, I didn’t mean to cause you or your friends any harm” Nate apologises, I smile I understand he was only protecting the pack,

“Forget about it no harm done, you were only protecting your pack, I respect that…...” I smiled before continuing,

“….by the way these are my friends Sienna and Vincent” I introduce them, when we were finished introducing everyone, Roman left to make a call, so we all talked amongst ourselves,

“You two know how to fight” Nate address’ Sienna and Vincent,

“That’s because we’re warrior wolves it’s in our blood” Sienna responded.

“They were the top two warriors in old our pack” I boasted proud of them both,

“Is that so, we should put you up against our top warriors, be interesting to see the outcome” Will commented,

“Challenge accepted” Sienna and Vince said in unison confidently, Will and Elijah both smiled,

“I like your confidence, I look forwards to seeing this” Elijah said,

“What about you Emily, how good at fighting are you?” Nate questioned, I lowered my eyes to the floor embarrassed to answer,

“Ummm…. I don’t actually know how to fight, I was never allowed too” I uttered quietly, the room went silent, just then Roman returned,

“I would like to speak to my daughter alone, Nate please show Sienna and Vincent to the guest rooms on the third floor, I’m sure they are exhausted having travelled so far, we will see you all at dinner”.

“Yes Alpha” Nate nodded, everyone left and when the door closed Roman sat at his desk.

“I have just spoken to your Mother…” my heart sunk when he mentioned my Mom,

“…..she knows you are safe here with me, she been worried sick about you, she told me about what she told you, she also told me that something happened to you just before she told you, but  that it was for you to tell me when you were ready, now I know you probably have a million questions but why don’t we start with why you cut ties with your pack?”

I looked at him and tears already filled my eyes, my heart broke it hadn't hit me till now that they would have felt me leave, he instantly came over and sat next to me and opened his arms offering a hug, the tears spilled and I break down, I cry into his chest, he just holds me rubbing my back until I calm down enough to explain,

“I’m sorry” I apologise for soaking his T-shirt, he just wipes a stray tear from my cheek,

“I’m not ready to talk about what happened just before, I will tell you eventually, but when mum told me about you on top of what just happened, I was angry and hurt I needed to leave I felt suffocated” I explained.

“Emily... I’m so sorry about everything, that is too much for any adult wolf to take on but a 17-year-old, I couldn’t imagine, I know I’m also a part of this as well” sadness and sympathy filled his eye, he then continued,

“I wanted to tell you everything when you were little, but your Mother and I decided along with Ian that it was best not to, if anyone found out you were my daughter you would have been made a target to get to me, your safety came first, your mother and Ian did everything they could to protect you, please don’t hate her, as for Ian I own him my life for protecting you”

I think it over for a few minutes and I can understand why they all did what they did, but it still doesn't make it any easier to accept, not yet.

“I don’t hate her, you or Ian, I was angry and confused, I just feel like massive part of who I am has been kept away from me” I smiled faintly my eye still puffy and red from crying,

“Okay flower, your turn what would you like to know?” he smiles softly at me, my heart felt warmer when he called my flower,

“Does your Mate and other children know about me?” I instantly see sadness and pain in his eyes, I regret asking instantly.

“My Mate died a few years before you were born, and we never had any children, you’re my only child”.

My heart starts to hurt for him, he lost his mate and as for his only child, he gave up the right to bring me up to protect from harm’s way, ‘wait if he has no other children then who is going to be the next Alpha of this pack?’

“Who is the next Alpha if you haven’t got any other children?” I question already knowing the answer but I’m hoping I’m wrong, he looks at me unsure how to answer,

“Technically speaking you are my heir so your next to hold the title” he sees the worry and panic on my face, and quickly adds. 

“You don’t have to do anything you aren’t happy with, I don’t want you to be pressured into anything, but it is your right to take my place”,

“Alpha….”

“Emily you do not need to call me ‘Alpha’ you are my daughter, I understand if you don’t want to call me Dad, so call me Roman please”.

“Okay…” I smile at him before continuing,

“.... I can’t fight or defend myself, how am I meant to look after and protect an entire pack!!” my voice goes a little high pitch, and he’s looking a little concerned himself,

“Your mother did tell me she wouldn't let you train or shift because she was afraid people would know something was off, alpha wolves are stronger and faster than your average wolf in human form and our wolves are naturally black and larger to indicate power” he states, I'm thinking of a response unsure whether I should tell him about my wolf,

‘Emily you need to tell him about what I look like, he’s your father he’ll protect us’ Alex interrupts my thoughts,

“Roman… that isn’t strictly true, Mom never knew but I shifted a long time ago, and Alexandra isn’t black” I reveal, Roman tilts his head to the side slightly before speaking,

“Okay I can understand you shifting secretly, it’s hard to contain a wolf, especially an alpha wolf, but what do you mean your wolf isn’t black, you’re not only a daughter of one alpha but your mother is of alpha blood too” yep, I’ve definitely confused him now, here goes nothing, his gaze is firmly on me,

“My Wolf is White” it was like time stopped for a moment, waiting for his response was agonising, 

“Did you just say white? Wait! Emily can I see your wolf?”

“Umm…”

“The office is big enough and I’ll obviously turn away while you are shifting, I don’t want anyone seeing your wolf until I confirm my suspicions”.

‘let’s show him Em, maybe he can help work out why we’re different’ Alex voices out,

‘Okay Alex if we both agree’ I reply, I nod at Roman and he steps back while I walk into the middle of the room, he turns away so I can take my clothes off to shift,

A few cracks later and I’m fully shifted I look down and see Alex’s white furry paws, I grunt to get Romans attention, he turns around and he goes wide eyed,

“Wow Emily or should I say Alexandra…” he’s speechless.

“…. You’re the legendary Wolf....your eyes.......are stunning!” he’s in shock he motions for us to turn around in a circle so he can see everything,

“Shift back, I’m just going to go to the pack library to grab some scrolls then we’ll talk more” he leaves the office, I quickly shift back and get dressed, I take a seat back where I was sat before,

After a few minutes he walks back in with some scrolls under his arms, he places them on the table and gestures for me to join him, he unrolled the two scrolls with pictures all over that tell a story, I looked at the second scroll and see a pure white wolf,

“Emily, there was a time when the Moon Goddess roamed this earth, during her time she prophesied that she would bless one wolf to be the strongest anyone has ever seen with heightened senses and some abilities, that they would be born to two blooded alpha’s, that wolf would be pure white with a black half-moon crescent on their fur, it doesn’t mention anything about whether that wolf is male or female though only that there will be one” he’s watching my reaction like a hawk,

"The only thing is, I can see that you have a black wolf marking on you left side, that isn't in the scrolls anywhere so I can't explain that."

This is a lot to take on, but given the last 48 hours it doesn’t shock me,

‘The Moon Goddess blessed us, but be prepared, this will make us a target’ Alex commented.

‘Why am I not freaking out about this?’

‘like you already thought it isn’t the craziest thing that has happened to you lately’.

“Emily?” Roman grabs my attention,

“Sorry, I don’t understand why me?” I mumbled, he chuckled,

“Why not? however this will make you a target, people will want you for power, or try to harm you because they’re scared of you, we must start training you immediately, and prevent anyone else finding out about you until you are fully capable to protect yourself” I just nod and agree with him, 

“I’ll let you rest today and tomorrow give you a chance to settle in, but the day after you start training every morning at 6, you have a lot to learn and a short amount of time to learn it in, your friends are also welcome to join” he orders, I start feeling excited I'm finally going to start training, 

“Any questions?” he adds.

“Only one, does this mean my friends and I can join your pack?” I ask, his facial expressions relax,

“This pack is your pack, of course you and your friends can join but everyone will need to prove themselves, I can't treat anyone different to any other new members” he noted, this is the best news I’ve heard I give him a big hug and we stay like this for a few minutes,

 “Let me show you to your new room, and you can talk to your friends before dinner” he smiles at me....
