An Alpha's Rejection

Chapter 12

“Dad I need to tell you, my mate is Alpha Zachary Black”, he just looks at me,

“Will!...” Roman calls, my heart stops, ‘No! what is he doing!’

“….Get in touch with our contact at the Blue Moon Pack, find out if their Alpha is okay, and if he’s experiencing anything like Emily, everyone else leave!”

“Yes Alpha” they all say in unison, I can see Nate looks hesitant but he can't refuse the Alpha’s orders,

“Why would Zach experience it as well?” I ask slightly confused,

“Although Elijah said it sounds like it might be a premonition, with your mating bond still intact, my money is on he may be seeing what you see”, I just nod slowly,

“Dad please don’t hate me” I let out a sob,

“Flower I don’t hate you, I just don’t understand why you felt the need to hide this information from me”

“I was scared that it would affect the pack alliance, and with Mom, Ian and Levi being there I didn’t want them getting hurt”,

“Emily as your father I want nothing more than to tear your so called Mate apart for what he has done to you, but as an Alpha I need to also think of what's best for the pack, and starting a war isn’t a good idea although I have a stronger pack, I’m not putting peoples lives in danger for an immature boy!, however that doesn’t mean I won’t hit him if the opportunity were ever to arise” he winks trying to lighten the mood, I just smile at him,

My alarm goes off, ‘what it’s already 5:30’

“We’ll discuss this later, get ready! training starts in 30, everyone are meeting at the front door of the pack house” he states, I just nod, he gets up and leaves,

I get changed into some sport wear putting my hair up, I make my way down stairs, once everyone arrived we head to the training grounds and begin,

Training started with 10 laps of the territory, there were several times I thought I was going to drop dead, but Roman kept pushing, and if he wasn’t the others were, I wanted to scream at them and give up but I knew it was all for my own good and for the good of the Pack,

Once I eventually finished the laps we moved on to sparing, Sienna was my sparing partner, she deserved a medal for how patient she was with me, she explained everything and if I wasn’t getting it she would repeat over and over again until I did, Roman and Nate watched on the side, they were discussing something, probably planning another torture workout for me, ‘Ugh’

‘You wanted to train, did you think it was going to be easy’ my wolf remarked, I blocked her out, after a while we tried fighting scenarios with what I learnt and as predicted Sienna kept handing my arse to me, *eye roll*

After 5 hours of training, I was allowed to have breakfast and then straight to Alpha training with Roman till mid to late afternoon depending on the training, this was the routine for the next three weeks,

It got a lot easier as time went on, the aches and pains started to subside the harder I worked out and train, I was able to defend myself and fight but still had a long way to go, I noticed I was getting stronger in only a short amount of time, I was as strong as Nate and Oliver but a lot of that was down to my Alpha blood,

I started losing the excess body fat not that there was a lot of it to begin with, but I was slowly becoming more toned, making me feel more comfortable in my own skin,

As for powers I’ve only learnt one more since, the ability to mask my own scent, I can hide from any other wolf, which will hopefully make it a lot easier to hide from Zach at the Alpha gathering, however Roman has a feeling it maybe more complicated because of the mating bond, we wont be sure it’ll work with him till we’re there,

Will’s contact at the Blue Moon Pack didn’t find anything out of sorts with Zach or his behaviour, so either he’s not experiencing what I am or he's very good at hiding it,

The dreams didn’t let up either, they were all of Zach and I either in a compromising position (blush) or of him being killed in front of me, but the scenarios were always different but always the same masked man, after a while I learnt to control my reactions so I didn’t mind link the entire pack again and risk exposure too soon,

Elijah has a friend in another pack who could see images of the future, they are known as Foreseer wolves, only so many exists just like Healer wolves, at one point every pack had at least one or two of each, but as decades went by they became very few and far between,

We got in touch with the foreseer wolf from another pack, she explained that the future was never set in stone, that the visions are warnings; the path you chose determines the outcome, my biggest worry about all of this is so far Zach dies in all of them, the common denominator in them all is me.

As for Zach he has been a busy boy indeed, ‘Pri*k’, I just thank the Doctor for the pain killers, it still hurts but I don't feel the need to claw at my chest, and it doesn’t stop the images coming through though, not easy seeing your mate touch someone else, however I learned to ignore them, once the Mating bond is broken I wont care,

I’ve come to the conclusion that we have to accept the rejection to protect us but also to protect Zach, Alex hates the idea however has agreed; it might be the only way for the both of us to live, as much as she wants her mate she’d rather love him from afar than know he died because of us.

Today I’ve been given the day off from everything as it the Alpha gathering this evening, Sienna and I are going to the Mall to pick out my outfit for tonight, and to have a complete make over so no one recognises me, it's eight in the morning we wanted to leave early to make sure I could have everything done before we leave , I decided to mind link Roman,

“Dad, Si and I are just about to leave do you need anything before we go?” I ask,

“Actually before you leave head to my office”

I head to Romans office, when I get there Roman is sat at his desk, Nate is stood just in front,

“I hope I’m not interrupting something” I say clearing my throat,

“Not at all, I was just briefing Nate on today's task…” Roman smiling at me creepily, now I’m freaked out a little,

“...your Beta is to escort you and Sienna while you go to the mall, he’s going to need a suit for this evening, he will be attending the Alpha gathering with us, seeing we’re allowed four members in total from each pack; with him being the future Beta of this pack I though it would be great experience for him” he finishes,

“Okay you couldn’t of told me this over mind link?” I question a little confused, Roman smiles before pulling a white box from out his desk drawer, placing it in front of me and Nate, we just look at each other in confusion,

“Oh Goddess, will you just open it” Roman chuckles, I opened the box and was a little confused by what was inside; but they were beautiful,

“I forgot to mention the gathering is a Masquerade Ball”, I was staring at a matching couples navy blue masquerade masks; with blue ribbon to tie up, blue and silver gems with black feathers, they looked absolutely stunning,

“One is for yourself, the other is for Nate, I wanted to give them to you now so you could match you outfits to them” Roman speaks again,

“A masquerade ball” I chuckle, just when I thought it was going to be hard to hide from Zach, I can literally hide in plain sight,

“Thank you Alpha” Will spoke,

“I need you both back here and ready by 6; pack a bag we’ll be staying the night at the Alpha Kings Guest house with the other Alphas, the party starts at 8 and we have a 2 hour drive”,

“Okay, thank you Dad, the masks are beautiful by the way, I can’t wait till we’re wearing them” I smile at him, ‘I've always wanted to go to a masquerade ball like the movies’

When we were about to leave Vince and Oliver were at the front door waiting for us,

“Hey Sweetheart, just an F.Y.I you ain’t going anywhere without me and my fashion advise” Vincent winks, sienna laughs

“Hey I have great taste, thank you” I reply offended,

“Says the girl who never likes wearing dresses and wears a pair of jeans and a baggy jumper all the time” he chuckles, I just stare at him with my resting b*tch face, they all just laugh at me,

“Lets move out B*tches” Si interrupts, we decide to take separate cars because Si and I are going to be a lot longer than the boys,

We arrive at the mall and decide to get breakfast first at a cute little café inside the complex, when we were finished we decided to split up, Nate and Oliver go to find a suit for Nate, and the twins come with me to choose a dress,

“Ooo, Victoria Secret is over there!” Sienna whisper shouted at me,

“Oh yea, that’s nice, I think w…..” I reply trying to avoid it, she grabs my arm and cuts me off,

“Come on lets go get something for you” she drags me inside, Vincent just laughs at me,

“Thanks for the help Vincent!” I shout at him, 

Sienna made me get some lace underwear, lingerie and anything she thought would look great ‘Eye roll’

After going through several different dress shops and coming up with nothing, we headed to this little store in the far corner of the mall, we headed inside, I tried on a ton of dresses but nothing took my fancy,

As we were about to leave a dress caught the corner of my eye, it was a stunning Navy blue silk dress with a beautiful floral lace train, it was open back and v neck front showing a little bit of cleavage while leaving the rest to the imagination, I went into the changing room and put it on, I come out and twirled for the twins,

“That looks beautiful sweetheart” Vince spoke first,

“Wow Em, you look stunning babe” Si whispered,

I was about to say something when Nate and Oliver walked through the door and looked over, I throw my arms in the air in a ‘Ta-da’ motion, Oliver just wolf whistled smiling at me before heading to kiss Vince on the temple, as for Nate he just stood and looked me up and down, I thought something was wrong with it, then Sienna spoke,

“Put your tongue back in your mouth buddy” Sienna teased,

“Shut up Sienna. Wow.... you look beautiful Princess” he smiles and comes over with Oliver giving me a hug, we’ve been getting closer over the last couple of weeks with them being my 2nd and 3rd,

Once we paid for the dress all the boys went to do boy stuff while Sienna and I went to get our hair done and also my make up for tonight,

I’ve decided to have a complete make over, before my hair was mousey blonde, long that reached to my butt, now my hair is shoulder length platinum blond with purple Ombre to represent my Alexandra’s eyes, I love freshly cut hair there is no better feeling, Sienna only had a trim she loves her hair to much to have a drastic change,

We had an hour and a half before we had to head back to the Pack house to get packed and get ready, we went to get my make up done by a professional, normally I'd do it myself and go light and as natural as possible but on the bases I don’t want to be recognise I decided to go all out,

When it was done the make up artist got me to look in the mirror, her work was complete, I had Smokey eye make up with winged eyeliner, and false eye lashes, my eye brows were done properly; I can never do them properly so never bother, my lips had a nude pink on them, I definitely did not recognise myself, and with the mask hopefully no one else would either,

Sienna's face was brilliant when she saw me,

“My baby girl is all grown up” she wipes away a fake tear, I couldn’t help but laugh at her,

“Girl I so wish I was coming with you I could do with a good party" she pouts at me,

"Anyway I don’t think Zach will recognise you, I doubt even your brother will with your transformation, you look like a completely different person….” she stops and hugs me,

With 30 minutes to spare we text the boys to let them know we’re heading back, when we get back to the pack house I head to my room to finish getting ready,

I closed my bedroom door and locked it, I lock all doors now since my dreams with Zach, I got a bag packed with everything for the night, I also packed the pain killers just in case, I went and cleaned myself up in the bathroom being careful not to knock my hair or make up,

I headed back into my room put some on lace underwear and went braless, I pulled the dress out and put it on, before looking at myself in the mirror I put on some silver jewellery, I grab my silver sparkly open toe heels to match, I grab the mask and put it on for the finish effect,

I look in the mirror and can’t help but smile, I’m unrecognisable, I just hope I can hide my scent from Zach just for tonight, my heart skips a beat knowing I’m hours away from seeing him, I hate that he has this effect on me,

‘Em, are you accepting the rejection tonight?’ Alex whispers I can hear the hurt in her words,

‘Not tonight, I’ll do it first thing in the morning privately before everyone leaves’ I reply, it hurts knowing that we are officially going to lose our mate but it’s in both our best interests,

‘Why tomorrow, what difference does it make?’

‘Tonight I want to be ‘Emily the future Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack’, not Alpha Zachary's rejected mate….*I sigh* …..besides tomorrow there won't be a mask to hide behind, I’ll need to be a big girl and face the fact!’ I reply, I can feel her curl up in the corner of my mind she doesn’t cut me off but I know she doesn’t want to talk anymore,

“I’m sorry” I say out loud, I grab my silver shawl and bag then head to the stairs, at the bottom I can hear Nate, Roman and Will talking, I stop just to listen in,

“Whatever happens tonight you keep Emily by your side, especially when Alpha Zachary is around, make sure he keeps his distance tonight, I have a hunch that even though she can hide her scent from us, I don’t think it’ll work as well with him with their mating bond still intact” Roman orders,

“Yes Alpha, Do we know when she’s accepting his rejection?” Nate responds

“Not sure, we did discuss her doing it during this trip, However I doubt she’ll do it this evening to prevent a scene”

“Okay the sooner she does it though the better, I hate watching her in pain” I could hear the hurt in Nate’s voice, with that I head down stairs, as I hit the bottom step the three men turn around smiling at me, Nate winks making me blush slightly,

“Wow” Will whispers,

“Flower…..you look absolutely gorgeous, I like what you’ve done with your hair” Roman comes over wrapping his arms around me, Nate comes over and takes my bag off me,

“Now that we’re all ready to leave, the limo is outside waiting for us”

“WHAT!! A LIMO?” I shouted out in excitement, Roman chuckles and I get embarrassed slightly,

“I take it you’ve never been in a limo before?” Will asks,

“Nope” I smile shaking my head, we all head to the limo, Roman opens the door for me and I get inside, Nate sits next to me, Roman and Will sat opposite, we made small talk for the entire way, when we arrived, Roman spoke to me,

"Flower when we enter they will call our names out introducing us all to everyone who has already arrived, they will want your name, I’ve put you under my surname for tonight I hope that’s okay?"

"That’s perfect, besides I think it’s time I start using it from now on, don’t you?" I smile back, his eyes and smile lit up,

“So be it, Emily Veronica Ashford” He says out loud, I love it, I feel like a missing piece is found, 

My nerves start to get to me as we approach the ball, there are Alpha’s from all over the world here and there’s only one I’m dreading on seeing, I mask my scent so no one can smell me, I put my mask straight on the hide my face,

In minutes we pull up outside the steps of the venue, Nate gets out first then hold his hand out for me, as soon as I got out the scent of Cinnamon and fresh rain invade my nostrils, I can feel my wolf she’s excited but sad,

‘Mate’ Alex whimpers, I feel her hurt, my heartbeat starts to race and breath become uneven, I feel a hand around my waist,

“Breath Princess, you can smell him can’t you?” Nate says holding me tighter, I just nod and steady my breathing, giving myself a pep talk,

‘You can do this, you are to be an Alpha, Alpha’s aren’t scared of anything, he’s just a silly boy’

‘He’s not just any boy’ Alex buts in,

‘Not helping’ I Scold her. I eventually find my calm, we head inside we’re one of the last to enter, when we get to the doors, the gentleman at the door is announcing everyone who arrives as Roman said, we step forward and the gentleman nods his head at Roman and smiles at me politely,

“Good evening Alpha Roman, it’s a pleasure to see you again, are you ready to head inside” he speaks, Roman nods his head, the man turns to the room and I notice we’re at the top of some stairs leading to a massive ball room,

“Alpha Roman Ashford of the Blood Moon Pack accompanied by his Beta William Crawley” he shouts out to the ball room, it went quiet and all eyes were on us, I knew Roman was a well known Alpha everywhere, but I didn’t think his presence would silence an entire room of Alphas,

Roman and Will, start walking down the stairs, Nate and I step forward

 “Also Emily Ashford Daughter of Alpha Roman Ashford and Future Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, accompanied by her future Beta Nathaniel Crawley” all eyes are now on us, I look at Nate when I heard his full name, he gave me the ‘DON’T SAY ANYTHING’ look and I just laugh, we start to descend the stairs as I look towards the crowd my eyes land on a pair of hazel ones watching me closely…...
