An Alpha's Rejection

Chapter 13

As I look towards the crowd my eyes land on a pair of hazel ones watching me closely, Nate puts his arm around my waist, we make it three quarters of the way down, 

I look to Zach’s right, I see my brother Levi, I smile, I’m excited to see him I can’t wait to hug him, when I look to Zach’s left anger and jealousy washes over me, I can feel Alexandra trying to push to the surface, i closed my eyes,  it takes all my will power to contain and repress her,

To his left is the blonde from the images, and it is no other than Celine, a growl involuntarily rips through my chest and bounces off the walls of the hall; causing a few of the women and Beta’s to jump, some Alpha’s just watch in amusement, I could see Nate watching me in the corner of my eye, Roman and Will look back at me,

‘Are you okay Flower? What was that about?’ Roman mind links me,

‘Damn wolf wants to rip the woman apart that is clinging to Zach’ I reply

‘Try and keep it together Flower, I know the Mating bond is strong, however let's not make a bad impression’ he states, I nod at him, he's right my first impression is one of jealousy, I internally cringe at myself  

Chatter starts to pick up again as we hit the bottom step, with that an older man about Romans age comes over to us chuckling,

“Roman, how good it is to see you again” he puts his hand out to greet Roman, he accepts his hand,

“Your Highness, nice to see you again” Roman replies,

“You can drop the formalities, we’re cousins after all” he turns to me smiling,

“You must be Emily, it’s a pleasure to meet you my dear, I’m Darius, King of all Alphas and first cousin to your father…” he gives me a hug, ‘holy sh*t I’m related to royalty!!’

“…...I must say, your entrance was fierce, I can already tell you are a force to be reckoned with, you're  definitely your father's daughter, I look forwards to seeing what the future holds for you”, I look at Roman and Will, both holding smiles on their faces,

“Thank you” I smile at Darius bowing my head in respect,

“If you will excuse me, I have a few more guests to see, and a Mate to find, ......she is here somewhere, probably giving one of my sons an earful, I will see you all later, enjoy the ball” he chuckles and leaves, he’s a ball of energy but I’ve hear how vicious he can be if you ever cross him,

Roman started introducing me to other Alphas, while Will and Nate went to mingle for a little, he started with an alpha of a neighbouring packs, they were all nice to me for now, then we came across to a gentleman standing alone,

“Alpha Lucas, It’s nice to see you again” Roman shook this man’s hand he seemed to be mid to late 20’s, he emanated power, he was scary tall and built in proportion to his height, he reminded me a little of Zach with his hair, but his face was much more defined than Zach's, he had a warm smile and gentle Brown eyes, his mate is a lucky woman indeed,

“Alpha Roman, It’s a pleasure as always” Alpha Lucas replies,

“I would like you to introduce you to my daughter Emily, Emily this is Alpha Lucas, he has the largest pack in the United States” Roman introduced me,

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Emily” he puts his hand out his eyes feel like they're staring right into my soul, I extend my hand to shake but before I can touch his hand the smell of cinnamon and fresh rain gets overwhelmingly stronger, we’re then interrupted but Zach and Celine, Celine is clutching on to Zachs arm for dear life,

“Alpha Roman, Alpha Lucas, Miss Ashford” Zach speaks, his eyes keep flicking between all of us, Celine's eyes are firmly on me, her head slightly tilted to the side, 

“Alpha Zachary, how are you finding your first Alpha gathering as an Alpha?” Alpha Lucas asks, I just roll my eye, Zach is about to speak when he’s rudely interrupted,

“Do you have a problem B*tch?” Celine shouts at me, she clearly saw my eyes roll, the three men go dead silent, this will be the perfect opportunity to have a bit of fun to mess with them,

“Alpha Zachary I suggest you control your Mate, otherwise you may be taking her home in a body bag” I state with a cocky smile, I see amusement in Zach’s eyes he quickly composes himself, I feel Roman touch my shoulder, as a gesture to take it easy, before Zach says anything Celine speaks up again,

“EXCUSE ME! ARE YOU THREATENING ME!” Celine shouts at me, edging closed Zach grabs her arm to try and control her, this is all causing a few people to look to see what is happening, I grin at her and chuckle, she pulls through his grip and is about to slap me when Alpha Lucas steps in between us and takes the hit, taking away all my fun, Celine looks mortified when she realises what just happened, 

 “How disrespectful. That is no way to speak to a future alpha, or no way to act in the presence of Alpha’s, SUBMIT!” Alpha Lucas uses his Alpha tone, Celine bows her head in submission, wow I just got chills,

"Alpha Lucas..... I...I am so sorry th...that slap wasn't mea...meant for you, I didn't know she was a future Alpha" she scrambles to say,

"Don't you dare play dumb with me! Alpha Zachary get your Mate out my sight!" Alpha Lucas demands, he was scary, but I liked it, probably because it was Celine on the other end of it.

"I apologise for her behaviour" he says grabbing Celine's arm clearly embarrassed by her actions,

"You owe Miss Ashford an apology!" he says through gritted teeth, I chuckle making him look at me,

"No apology needed, if she thinks she can take on an Alpha then I accept her challenge......" I pause smiling at her, Celine looks irritated but unsure whether to try her luck,

".....let me see how about to the death?" I suggest mocking her,  I know she'd probably be able to fight better than me at the moment, but she doesn't know that,

"NO.....that won't be necessary Miss Ashford i mean no disrespect, I will deal with her punishment myself" comes from Zach, of course he would want to save his little play thing,

"Okay I would do the same for my MATE, I understand Zee" his name slipped out I didn't mean it to, but it did, his his eyes flicker at me he noticed, but he hasn't said anything, 

Next thing I know a pair of arms wrap around my waist, I get turned around, it's Nate he lifts me up and spins me in the air making me chuckle and squeal, his timing couldn't of been more perfect,

"Hello Princess" he says when he puts me down, everyone's eyes are on us, Roman and will are just grinning at us, Zach and Celine, don't look amused,

"Hello Handsome!" we chuckle, My wolf is really uncomfortable right now,

"This must be your Mate?" Alpha Lucas ask, I look over to him when Nate answers for me,

"No, I wish...." he wraps one arm around my waist pulling me closer to him"...I'm her Beta though, I'm Nate" he places his hand out to shake his hand,  I could hear a very low growl coming from Zach's direction no on else heard it but with my hearing being a lot better than any alpha here I don't miss it, 

I look at Zach and his eye are burning into Nate's head, 

"I'm sorry I just assumed you were her mate, Miss Ashford do you have a Mate?" Alpha Lucas asks me, I can feel everyone eye's on me, I'm starting to freak out a little, I don't let it show, why is he asking me such a personal question,

"I did, he rejected me" I say out right keeping my eyes focused on his, "...do you?" 

"I'm truly sorry, however one man's loss is another man's gain, my mate died not long after I found her" I could hear the pain in his voice, I heard Zach scoff during his answer, I just internally roll my eyes,

"I'm sorry Alpha Lucas" I could feel his pain, my eye filled with tears, this is weird why am I nearly crying,

"Alpha Roman May I have a word with you please? in private", Alpha Lucas addresses Roman, he nods in response, and they disappear, leaving Will, Nate, Zach, Celine and I in awkward silence,

"Where is your Beta Alpha Zachary?" I ask breaking the silence,

"He's around here somewhere, why do you ask?" he replies, with a intrigued expression,

"Just out of interest" I shrug my shoulders, with that Levi turns up, speak of the devil and he will appear, i chuckle out loud,  he looks at me and freezes for a split second, I can't tell what his eyes are reading, he clears his throat,

"Excuse me miss, but may I have a dance?" he asks, Nate grip gets slightly tighter, and everyone looks at Levi in bewilderment, I smile at Levi,

"Of course you may" I reply, Nate looks at me slightly confused, I mind link him,

'Levi is my brother' I tell him, he loosens his grip and smiles at me, 

Levi offers his arm and I loop mine with his, we go to the far side of the hall, he looks around then grabs my wrist and we exit the hall with no one looking, he's silent, he doesn't say anything, we find an open door and go inside, it's the library and a massive one,

Levi lifts his nose sniffing the air to ensure no one is in here with us, when he's satisfied we're alone he just grabs and hugs me, we're like this for what feels like hours,

"For f*ck sake Emily, I've missed you so much, where the hell have you been?" His voice is shaky, he holds me tighter,

"How did you recognise me?" I reply removing my mask,

"I don't know I've only known you your entire life!, I'd recognise you anywhere, your chuckle gave you completely away though, but you don't smell like you, in fact you don't smell of anything" he say confused, I laugh at him,

"That's because I can mask my scent" I state, I've never seen anyone so confused in my life, I laugh out loud at him, I unmask my scent to allow his to scent me, he nods when he can smell my scent, i forget to mask it again though, however what I didn't know was by doing so, it was a mistake but a blessing  in disguise, 

I explained to him everything that had happened since I left, I gave him the short story otherwise we'd be here for hours, he stares at me in bewilderment 

"Holy Sh*t Emmy......You're a freaking Alpha........ and the Legendary White Wolf? you'll have to explain the white wolf thing another time," he seems to struggle to process everything, he then starts laughing hysterically, oh Goddess I've broken him, I facepalm myself,

"Wow.....ummm.....how have you been able to processed all of this!, you know what I'm proud of you! My sister is an Alpha! Oh my Goddess... Does Zach know? I saw you talking? did celine bother you? have you accepted his rejection? how did he take it? did he say anything?" he speaking so quick,

"Levi slow down!, Zach doesn't know I'm an alpha, he doesn't even know I'm here, as for his rejection I'll be accepting it first thing in the morning,  I know him and Celine have been together over the last couple of weeks trust me!, but Levi it is so important you not tell anyone who I am, or that i'm the white wolf okay?" I answer,

"Okay!, but how do you know he's been with Celine?"

"Well because of the Mating bond I can feel him when he's umm.... you know.... with someone else, I get images of what he's doing, and the pain rips through me and it is intense, in fact I nearly killed myself trying to rip my heart out involuntarily I was in that much pain", I can see the hurt in his eyes then anger, his eyes flicker blue his wolf is fighting with him for dominance,

"Levi calm down, see reason here!"

"NO EMILY, HE'S YOUR MATE HE SHOULD BE WITH YOU, NOT TOUCHING THAT SKANK" he's starting to shift, none of his clothes have ripped yet,

"ENOUGH" I use my Alpha tone on him, he bows his head and stops, I hate I used it on him,

"Levi, I'm sorry, he is your Alpha, you are his Beta you vowed to protect him and his Pack at all costs, Yes I'm your sister but do not risk your life over something so stupid, I'm dealing with it!" I point out,

"I'm sorry Em, I'm so protective over you" he sighs hugging me, I check the time and the door opens, I panic as I realise I didn't mask my scent, when I saw Nate I relaxed, 

"Princess what's happened, I can smell you down the hall, if you're not careful Alpha Zachary will find you" Nate seems annoyed, but I understand, I've been reckless,

"It was an accident it won't happen again.... Levi this is Nate, he is my Beta, Nate this is my brother Levi also Zach's Beta" they stare at each other for a minute before shaking each others hands, 'MEN'

"Nice to meet you Nate, I hope you are taking good care of my sister!" levi says,

"Of course, my life depends on it" he relies, smiling at me, he places he arm over my shoulder,

"Anyway, we better be heading back, don't want Zach to suspect anything or catch a whiff of my scent in....."  didn't even finish my sentence when what I heard gave me chills and butterflies at the same time, my wolf starts howling, 

"Hello little Mate!"........
