Chapter 144

959 Words

Ava's POV My head snapped toward the sound, my instincts kicking in instantly. "I don’t know you! I’m not your daughter! Help!" My wolf surged forward, alert and sharp, cutting through the haze of anger. A scent hit me. It was spiked with fear, pure, panicked fear. I turned fully and saw them. An elderly woman and a middle-aged man gripping a small girl between them, trying to drag her away. The child couldn’t have been more than four. Her face was flushed red from crying, her small body twisting, kicking, fighting with everything she had. The moment I saw them dragging that child, something in me snapped into place. All those recent cases of children and women disappearing, packs whispering about traffickers moving through cities, stealing the weak, the young, and the unguarded.
