{Angelo’s POV}
I ran for my brothers room, ready to tear him a new one, but a text from Maisie stopped me in my tracks. “Don’t be so hard on your brother, he’s going through a lot, also, don’t worry about telling him about my past. He’s hurting, and I don’t want to give him a reason to feel bad. Sometimes anger is a good motivator when you’re feeling defeated, so if that’s what he needs for now, then just let him be angry with me.”
“You’re too perfect..” I typed, sending it and smiling down at my phone.
An immediate reply had me smiling, even wider, thinking of going back and kissing those sweet, perfect lips. “No, I’m human, and I know how it feels to feel so broken. He’ll get through this, right now he just needs his big brother.”
“Thank you Maisie..” I typed back, before putting away my phone and walking into Silas’ room. As I walked in, I could see him sitting in his wheelchair, staring out the window.
“If you’re here to chew me out just leave!” He shouted, not even bothering to turn around.
I sighed, walking over and placing my hand on his shoulder. “I’m not here to chew you out, I’m here to check on you, I want to know how you’re feeling.” I said, turning his chair around to face me.
“I feel like I can’t walk, I can’t do anything for myself, oh yeah, and I also feel like this is all Maisie’s fault! If she would have just stayed out of the doctor’s business then I wouldn’t be like this!” He shouted, turning his face away from me.
I nodded, turning and walking to the chair across the room and sitting down. “You’re right..” I replied, staring back towards the door. “You’re completely right.”
She turned to me, a look of shock flashing across his face. “What did you just say?”
“I said you’re right.” I shrugged, as if it were no big deal.
“This isn’t the time for joking around Angelo!” He snapped, tears pricking in his eyes.
“Who’s joking?” I said coldly, turning back to face the door again.
“So what? You’re not going to defend her? You’re not going to yell and tell me this is all my fault, not hers? You’re not going to berate me for being an i***t and going after them, after you told us to back down? You’re not going to argue with me?” He shouted, tears spilling from his eyes.
“I think you’ve beaten yourself up enough Silas.. you’ve been telling yourself this crap since you woke up haven’t you? That you’d been better off dead.. that you’re an i***t, and all of this is your fault! You’re not stupid Silas, you’re loyal, and loving, you have the biggest heart of anyone that I know, and you just wanted to help your brothers!” I said, beginning to raise my voice. I stood up, walking to his side and placing my hand on his shoulder. “Do you know how worried I was when I had heard you were here? I was in shock, barely able to string a thought together. Maisie got us back here, helped make sure that you got the best care you could have gotten. Told us that she can help with your recovery, wanting to make sure to take care of not only your physical health, but your mental health too. She cares about you, I care about you, and now that you’re out of surgery, and out of danger, I want nothing more than to keep you that way!” I said, leaning down, and hugging him softly. “I love you bambino, and I’m going to make sure that we get our entire family to safety, taking out the MonRoy’s for good!” I said, pausing for a beat. “But! There is nothing more important to me, and to our family right now, than making sure that you recover!”
“Why are you being so nice to me?” He asked, as I felt tears on my sleeve.
“Because, you’ve been nothing but nice to me our entire lives. You’re kind, loving, affectionate, you’re the heart and soul of this family Silas, and I’ll be honest.. I’m just so glad that you’re okay!” I pulled back, looking at him. “I know that you’re struggling, but shutting people out, and being angry isn’t going to solve anything. It’s just going to make you feel worse in the long run. If you really blame Maisie, and you’re really angry with her, then that’s fine, you have a right to feel however you feel. But, if this is because you’re feeling angry about how you are right now, and feeling sorry for yourself, and instead of dealing with it, you’re blaming someone else.. well, that’s not okay. You need all the love and support you can get right now, and believe it or not, we’re all here to help you!” I said, smiling softly at him.
“I.. I just.. I hate being a burden..” he said, looking down at his legs. “I was the one who took care of the twins when everyone else was busy.. I’m the one who always was down to go and do whatever you guys wanted or needed. I can’t be that for you guys anymore.. I can’t be anything for anyone like this..”
I shook my head. “That isn’t true Silas.. you can be a good brother, a good uncle, and an amazing friend. Like you said, you’re always here when we need you, now, we’re going to be here for you, 24/7, until you recover. You’ve got all of our family as a support system!”
“Thanks Angelo..” he said, looking up at me, his eyes still leaking tears down his cheeks. “I think I should go talk to Maisie.. I think I was a little hard on her..”
“She knows that you’re just angry right now, that you’re feeling down, and out. She understands, and I’ll leave it at that. For now, you should get some rest, that’s what you really need. Soon we’ll have your new room all set up, and we can all finally go home!” I said, lifting him from his chair carefully and placing him in his bed. He’s gotten so big, so heavy.. I can’t believe that my bambino is all grown up, and taking care of our family now.
