Proper Regiments

{Maisie’s POV} It’s been a few days since I’ve woken up, the doctor wanted to keep me in the hospital for observation, along with Silas and Max, but Angelo had devised a different plan. He wanted us all to go back to their house and for the doctor to come check in on us daily, even offering a ton of money for this idea of his. Then once I’m healed up, he wants me to take over the doctor’s work for Silas. I’ve been telling them that I’m fine, I’ve felt much better these past few days. I just have to keep my sugar levels up, which usually isn’t too hard as long as I make sure to eat something throughout the day. Angelo even brought up the idea that I’d live with them for up to a year to help with Silas. I’m not sure how I feel about moving in with them for that long. Especially since Marco’s attitude towards me hasn’t changed much at all. Silas came to me and apologized, which was sweet, but I told him that it wasn’t necessary, that I understood what he was going through, and knew that he wasn’t really mad at me. Since then, the two of us have gotten along much better, and he’s even beginning to like the idea of being able to talk to me and work through some of his problems with me. He’s such a good kid, I told him that if he ever needs to talk, I’m just a phone call away. Though now, I may be only a regular call away. There is however the possibility that I wouldn’t even be able to hear him if he called me from somewhere in this house. If I’m honest, this place is massive, maybe too big.. and I’ve gotten lost in here twice in the past few days. Since coming here, I’ve found myself in a library, a pool, a movie theater, and even a gaming room. Each time I’d stumble in on another LaRoux sibling, that thought that my getting lost, was the best thing they’d seen in years. I’ve also learned that I did hear Margo right, and she has two husbands. Both of them have been very kind to me, thanking me over and over again for saving their wife. Everyone here is so welcoming, and nice to me.. except Marco. He seems to think of me as the enemy, which is understandable. I wasn’t born into this life the way he and his family were. Even their friends and Margo’s husbands were apart of this world since birth. I’ve tried my best to find some kind of common ground with him, but every time we speak he just seems more and more annoyed with me. As of right now I’ve been sitting in the living room, cross cross on the couch with a blanket over my lap. I have the medical records of Silas, Max, and Mikey, making sure to go through them, along with some pages that I’ve been writing out for their physical therapy regiments. I figured that they really only brought me in to help with Silas, but Max was stabbed, and Mikey shot.. they need just as much help before diving back into their regular activities. I sat down the page that I was writing about Mikey’s physical therapy, and pinched the bridge of my nose, sighing. “What are you doing?” Margo’s voice came from the entry way. I looked over to see her holding Aurelio and Anna in her arms. “Just trying to figure out which exercises the boys should do to help with their specific injuries. Coming up with a regiment for them to follow would do a lot of good in the long run. Max dislocated his shoulder, and was stabbed, so working out the muscles is important, but it’s also important not to strain himself too much. Same thing with Mikey and his shoulder..” I said, grabbing the glass of wine that Angelo had brought me earlier. He had told me that he had some work to do, but I could stay in here as long as I wanted to. I took a sip, setting it back down, and picking up another paper, this one about Silas’ care. “It’s getting late Maisie, maybe you should take a break.” She said, smiling at me. She walked over, placing Anna and Aurelio in my lap. I reached across the twins, setting down the paper. “I guess I could use a little break. How would you two like a bedtime story?” I asked, smiling down at them. Both of them nodded excitedly, scooting under the covers and laying their heads on each of my sides. “Okay, this one is about a dragon..” I giggled, beginning the story. I told them about a dragon that was cursed to watch over the princess, not allowing anyone to come near her. One day, a handsome prince comes to save her, and the dragon scares him away. This continues for years, the Princess, miserable and alone asks the dragon, why do you do this to me? The dragon can only shake their head, until one day, a band of bandits come to the castle. The dragon fiercely protects the princess, but is injured badly. The princess rushes to the dragons side, thanking the beast for saving her. She realizes that she cares for the dragon, as it had been her only friend for all these years. She kisses the dragons nose, and watches as he turns into a handsome prince. The two then wed, and they lived happily ever after. As I looked down, the two of them were asleep, and I giggled noticing that Margo, who had sat down on the other side of the couch, had also fallen asleep. I quietly went back to work, trying to finish the plans for their regiments before bed tonight. Suddenly a scoff from the doorway brought me out of my thoughts. I looked up, seeing Marco standing there with his arms crossed. “You really have weaseled your way into their hearts, haven’t you!”
