{Angelo’s POV}
We made to the warehouse, finding an all out fight breaking out. There was gu*shots ringing in the air, and shouting from in front of the warehouse. We had stopped by to pick up Damon and Carter, they said they wanted to be here, to help us rescue their wife. We all jumped from the car, opening fire, and mowing down the men in front of the warehouse. Soon, the fighting was over, I shouted out. “Margo? Maisie? Where are you?”
“We’re here Angelo!” Margo said, standing up, I looked over, watching as her and Maisie began to make their way around a car not far from where we were.
Maisie held onto the back of the car, before turning to Margo. She said something, her smile fading, before suddenly she dropped to the ground. My heart dropped, feeling as though it completely stopped for a moment. “Maisie!” I shouted, running to them and dropping to my knees, pulling her onto my chest. “Maisie, Maisie wake up!” I shouted. She was covered in blood, and her face was bruised, but she didn’t look like she was hurt too badly. Why did she suddenly pass out.
Carter and Damon ran to Margo, pulling her into their arms. “Thank god you’re okay!” Damon said, kissing her head.
“We were so worried!” Carter added, turning her to face him. “Did they hurt you? What happened?”
“No, Maisie is the only one that got hurt.. some guy hit her, but.. I don’t understand why she passed out so suddenly.. she was fine just a minute ago.” Margo said, moving away from them, and over to Maisie. She grabbed Maisie’s hand, holding her wrist and checking her pulse. “Her hearts beating.. but she isn’t waking up..”
She pulled out her phone, calling dad. Soon I heard him answer. “Hello? Margo, are you and Maisie alright?” He asked, panic evident in his voice.
“We’re safe.. we made it out okay, but Maisie, she just passed out all of a sudden..” Margo said softly. “We’re going to bring her back to the hospital!”
“Hurry! She has low blood sugar, if she doesn’t get her injection she could end up having a seizure.. or worse.. severe hypoglycemia is dangerous if left untreated!” He said through the phone. “I’ll let the doctor know you’re on your way!” He hung up the phone, and I immediately ran to the car with her in my arms.
“Someone else needs to drive! Get us to the hospital now!” I shouted, buckling myself and Maisie up.
I cradled her in my arms, Margo, Carter and Damon scooting into the back with me, while Mikey and Marco sat up front. Marco drove like a madman back to the hospital, and when we arrived I rushed Maisie in, lying her on the gurney that the doctor had waiting for her. “We’ll get her taken care of right away!” He assured me, I pushed on behind him, following him to the room.
“I’m not leaving her, not after everything that just happened!” I said, sitting in the chair on the other side of the room.
The doctor nodded, grabbed an iv and sticking her with it quickly, hooking up a machine with fluids, and putting a syringe full of medicine in through the other port. “She should wake up in about 15 minutes, if she doesn’t, then we’ll have to give her another dose.” He said, pulling up her chart. “I should warn you, she could slip into a hypoglycemic coma, and it could be days before she wakes up..” he said, setting the chart down. “When she wakes up, she’ll need to be sure to get plenty of rest, and fluids, juices, or sodas, along with a long acting source of carbs with protein to help her stabilize properly. You’ll need to make sure that she eats plenty, and rests as much as possible.” He sighed, before turning back towards Maisie. “She’ll be okay, we’ll make sure of it.” He turned leaving the room.
I looked over Maisie, seeing dried blood all over her hands, along with some that’s in her hair, and smeared across her face. “Maisie.. what happened to you?” I asked, leaning down and kissing her head.
I heard a soft knock on the door, and Margo walked in slowly. “Angel.. Silas is awake, he’s asking for you and Maisie..” she said, walking to Maisie’s bedside. She turned, grabbing a towel from the cabinet in the room, wetting it down with soap and water. She walked over, wiping off the blood stained on Maisie’s face, before washing the blood off of her hands. She sighed, once Maisie was all cleaned up. “She saved me Angelo.. I was trying to keep calm, and trying to direct her in what to do, but she ended up saving me..” Margo said, brushing the hair gently away from Maisie’s face. “She kil*** those men, and helped me escape. She came up with the whole plan, making sure that we made it out safely.” She leaned down kissing Maisie’s forehead. “She’s family now Angelo, whether you choose to be with her or not.. like it or not, she is a part of our world now. The only thing that you can do now, is decide how you want to handle things going forward. I’m going to warn you now, myself, my husbands, my kids, and our brothers all love her now, so don’t screw it up!” She said, walking to me, and placing her hand on my shoulder.
I nodded, not really sure what to say, I wanted her, I wanted her more than anything, and Margo was right, no matter what happens from here on out, Maisie is a part of this world now. The world that I’ve tried so hard to keep my family out of, now, instead I’ve dragged someone else, someone who has become irreplaceable to me, into it.
