Her Cursed Mate

Chapter 7

Xander POV

I lay on the bed staring at the ceiling. I was feeling much better. I was getting strong with each passing day. I could sense that my wolf is healed up but he still hadn't shown up. I was eagerly waiting for him. Once he surfaces I will immediately return to my pack.

A few days ago when I said to Amelia about my return she said to wait for my wolf. At first, I thought that she didn't know my rank or my responsibilities so she had no right to say

"Your pack won't crumble just by your absence"

I got a little furious about it. But then I maintained my calm. I just said

"I am tired. We should return"

After returning to the cave she left. I had thought that I would leave once she left but then decided against it. After pondering on her words, I felt that her words made sense.

It's been three months since I left. If I return immediately without any planning I don't know what lies ahead of me. I may be walking into a trap. Though he knew that I was dead but if he had taken the role as an Alpha then the pack setting must have been changed. I must be careful with my every step.

I really hoped that Nick would be alive. Though the chances are minimal but he wasn't one of those who would easily depart the world. People called him

"Hell Cheater"

I desired that he live up to his name.

Suddenly my thoughts were drifted off towards the Angel. I wanted to leave this place for the sake of my pack but my heart wanted otherwise. These few days spent, with her were pure bliss. Though this place lacks the basic living style but it was like heaven on earth.

Amelia would come every morning with breakfast, Ask about my health and then leave. She told me that her classes start from morning till evening. She practised magic in those classes. She told me that her magic wasn't mature yet. She still had a long way to go before becoming a powerful witch.

In the evening she would come with lunch. She stays for some time to chat. We chat about general things. Never did she disclose her identity nor did I. From her chats, I came to know that she isn't allowed to leave her coven. But then how did she save me? Maybe she had sneaked behind others' backs. I never asked her this question.

Well then in the night she would come again with dinner and leaves immediately. Nonetheless, we have spent a little time together but that little time seemed better than the years I had lived. I felt free and unconcerned about my responsibilities. Honestly, I dreaded the day I had to leave. One thing I know was that I will forever remember her.

"Hey, I came with lunch. Today Nanny made my favourite platter with mint. Eat it I am sure you would love it" she said snatching my attention.

Four platters were placed in the box along with mint. She gave me a bottle of juice. I smiled at the number of platters. When I previously asked her to bring me a good quantity of food, she laughed and said

"A big wolf surely needs more food to recover"

Since then she brought more food. But little did she know that this food was far too little for my daily diet.

I took a big bite of the platter. Flavours erupted in my mouth. Its taste was satisfactory.

"It tastes good" I said to her.

"See I told you. Nanny makes the best platter in the world" she beamed with joy.

"How was your day?" I asked her.

"Same as usual. Elder Caroline made me practice for extra two hours. You know I told her that this was already my best but she..................." she begin her series of complaints.

I laughed at her. If four months ago someone had said that one day I would be sitting next to a girl and will listen to her rambles and then will laugh at her thin patience, I would have smashed his head off. But now, This all seemed destined.

She suddenly stopped her rambling and became serious. I looked at her in concern.

"Is everything ok?" I asked.

"No, I mean yes...." she said. Her attention was somewhere else.

"Why had your wolf not surfaced yet? He should have shown till now" she said as worry filled her voice.

"I don't know. I can feel that he is healed up but he is not responding to me" I explained.

"Maybe he is still having after-effects of the battle" she mumbled.

"Give me your hand. Let me check upon him" she said.

I extended my hand. She took it. A buzz of electricity was generated on the contact. I looked at her. She felt it too but this time she didn't withdraw her hand.

She closed her eyes. I could feel a power gush in me. But it didn't seem like the one that appears from magic. Energy begins to fill my veins. I closed my eyes. Power was like someone was forcing his way through my system.Suddenly a voice emerged in my head.

"Mate"

My eyes widened in shock and I quickly pulled my hand away.

"What happened?" she asked

"I was unable to respond. Did I hear my wolf correctly? It was not possible. How could I have a mate? I was fated to live a lonely life. What kind of sick joke is he playing on me" I thought.

"Mate, She is our mate, Xander. Moon goddess endowed us with her" my wolf said.

"How is it possible?" I asked him.

"I don't know. Maybe Moon Goddess took pity on us and lifted the curse" he said.

"That woman won't do that," I said

"Are you alright?" she asked.

I looked at her. She looked completely different now. She surely was pretty before but now she was a Goddess in my eyes. Her rose-honey scent invaded my senses. A strong force of attraction was eradicating me. A change of air could be felt around us.

"Yes, I am alright" I answered.

"I gave a light push to your wolf but then I felt a huge amount of power. It backfired on me. What happened? Did your wolf emerge?" she asked.

"Her voice is so silky and sweet. Look she is concerned about us. I want to claim her" my wolf said.

I resisted all my urges to pull her to me. I can not claim her now.

" No, my wolf didn't emerge. Maybe it was the natural defence system that backfired on you " I lied.

I hated doing it. But at the moment it was the right decision.

"Yah! maybe, don't worry your wolf will show up soon. You rest up. I will get going" she said.

"Okay" I said to her.

With that, she left. I wanted to stop her. I now wanted her forever by my side. Moon Goddess had finally granted me a mate, I never wanted my eyes off her. I wanted to protect her, cherish her.

"She is my queen. From now on no harm will come to her under my watch. But first I had to make my pack save for her" I thought.

"Why did you do that?" my wolf growled furiously in my mind.

"I had to do that. At least I think with brains. Unlike you, who only think about claiming her. The pack is not saved. Where do you think we will take her. And most importantly we don't know what lies ahead of us. Victor is a sly person. Once he gains information about us being alive and finding a mate. Our life as well as hers will be in danger. She is protected presently. Once our enemy is eliminated she won't be far from our eyes" I tried to reason with him.

"Let the show on the road. Once Victor is destroyed we will come and get her" my wolf said.

Finally, some sense had knocked on his door. I was now fully ready for the battle.

I tried to mind link, Nick. But my message got blocked by a wall.

A smile erupted on my face. I knew that he won't die easily.

"He surely is a tough guy. That's like the beta of Blood moon pack. He lived up to his name" I thought.

He had blocked his mind link. He might be in danger but at least he is alive.

I closed my eyes and used my Alpha command on his mind link.

"Nick" I voiced.

Linked opened and he responded.

"You are alive!!!!!!!!" he said with shock.

"Never thought you wanted me dead" I joked.

"What's happening, bro. I felt the Alpha bond break. How come you are alive?

Where were you from three months?" He bombarded me with questions.

"Leave that discussion to later. Tell me about the pack?" I asked him.

"Now, that you are back everything will fall in place. That bastard Victor became the Alpha. As the pack members felt the bond break so they were convinced about your death. On the battlefield, Victor tried to kill me but I fled after a very tough battle. I barely survived. When I felt your disappearance of bond I at first didn't believe it. I managed to go back to the field but the whole field was burned with fire. I am still running from Victor. After returning to the pack Victor put the whole betrayal scene on me" Nick explained.

"That bastard!!!! we will kill him together, brother" I said furiously.

"I have been keeping an eye on the pack. Victor had replaced all our trusted members with his. He had introduced new laws. He is killing the pack members for little crimes. He is destroying our pack." he said.

"I have a plan in my mind. Don't worry he only has a few days left. Where are you now?" I asked him.

"I am hiding deep in the forest. A little further away from the pack. Where are you ?" he inquired.

"I don't know my exact location. I will confirm it by midnight. You can start your journey. We will meet at the cabin next morning" I said.

"Okay, will be waiting for you" he said.

With that, he closed his mind link. I know about this place a little but I still do not know where this coven is located. My sixth sense indicated that it is not too much far away from my pack.

I will depart at midnight. I want to see Amelia at the dinner for the last time.

She will be mine sooner or later.
