His coming

1419 Words
I was once told by mum that God communicates with you through your dreams, that was why when I woke up that morning due to a terrible nightmare I felt somehow down, it was out of my control, I couldn't help but feel that way. In my dream, well I wasn't there anyway, but my imp, he had pushed Asher down the stairs and her horrid scream still had my blood frozen in my veins. I forced myself out of bed when I wouldn't fall asleep. I took a shower and got in my usual casual outfit. A khaki pants and a royal blue hoodie. I styled my golden blond hair in their natural locks and I did a quick prayer before walking out of the room and shuffling down the stairs with my backpack hanging on one shoulder lazily. The first words I heard were from dad speaking sternly to Mason while he hung his head low and mumble to himself. "I won't have it, Mason. You were knocking like crazy at 3 pm. Waking up all the household. How responsible do you think that was?" Dad had his green eyes fixing Mason deadly. I could feel his anger from here. "Morning," I grumbled while going over the counter finding a sit for myself far from the scene. Dad ceased his sermon as soon as he saw me, he glanced at me his brows still furrowed, and mumbled a "morning" before going back to murdering Mason with his stare. "But Dad I had permission from Aunt Dian." Mason defended meeting Dad's gaze for a second before throwing his gaze back to the counter. "Late practice. how is it that you finished soccer at 2 am then? I can call Mr. Harson to check you know." "I never said we ended practice at 2 am, but after practice, I had to see Emma she was not feeling good and you know she lives in the other part of town so it took me four hours for both rides. That was why I was late and I could've sneaked in silently if some genus hadn't decided to lock the bad door." Mason glared lightly at me and I rolled my eyes. "Is not an excuse Mason, sorry I'll have to take your car keys, your brothers look up to you, this is for your good," Dad said as he stretched out his hand. "Aww, come on dad. It was just a tiny mistake, that shouldn't take my driving right." He whined. "I'm not trying to cage you, son, you're free to do what is good for you, but you kinda abused our trust, so I'm leading you back to the right path." He beckoned for the keys and Mason handed them over with a sigh. "Morning babies." Mum kissed me on the cheek and she walked in with Asher and I pulled away. She moved to Mason who gladly leaned in, then she went to peck Dad on the lips. I guess she kissed the anger off his face cause he looked slightly better after. He grabbed Asher and toss her in the air making her giggle. She poured a bowl of cereal for Mason and me Just then Adrian came down with his head hung low, he took a seat beside me and we all watched him. "Morning." He greeted hoarsely and we responded. Mum walked over to him going to stand by his side she mumbled something in his ears and he nodded, then she hugged him. "What's up with him?" I asked. She glared at me lightly and mouthed a 'leave him alone' as she served him his bowl. I shrugged to myself. "Hello people, I'm back." We heard Elliot walk-in adjusting his glasses, but as soon as he saw our parents he put up a smile, but it looked exhausted. "Hey, El," I responded along with others. "You shouldn't be studying so much Elliot is not good for your health," Mum said while going to scan his face, with her worried mother hen eyes like x-rays. "I have IT exams next week. I need to be to the best of my knowledge. Sorry I had you worried." He said and mum pecked him on the cheek. "It's okay, baby." she smiled. I rolled my eyes. I was not jealous, it was just annoying, um, to see your mum bear attention for another other than you. Dad cleared his throat and I look up so did everyone. Dad never clears his throat. He is the kind that chose words over action. He gave mum a look and she strode to his side confidently. "We'll like to announce you all something." Dad started as he dropped Asher on her high seat. We all listened attentively. Mum was not having a baby, was she? I thought jealously. "Is mum, um, having a baby?" I asked. Mum chuckled. "Why should I? Asher is barely two." I shrugged in shame but satisfaction. "We're bringing in a patient and he is six," Dad said. I froze right on the spot, fork in hand, mouth in a slight gasp. "Six? P-patient?" I stuttered. "Yeah, and he is homeless, he was kidnapped from a very young age, and he was tortured heartlessly by some ritualist, they abused him in all ways possible and he is still bearing the scars. He can't speak cause he does not have vocal cords and he has never lived around people with normal mindsets so don't expect anything of him too soon. I just want you to show him care and affection, together we'll help him heal." Dad explained. I was already having it on the other side of the story. Who the hell is entering into this family as a foster son? No way! Asher was already too young to take my place but I don't think six years old with a so-called tragic past making him even pathetic won't. "What's his name?" Mason asked. It took me all not to glare at him with all my might. "Freddy," Mum replied and he nodded with a muse expression. "Kids I want you to be nice with him, and don't speak to him about his abuse, your missions are to make him want to live. To make him know what to live is." Mum said passionately and they nodded. "When is he leaving?" I asked after snapping out of my state of shock. Everyone stared at me and I pretended not to see while trying to force the oat down my throat. "When he is better. And Owen I want you to understand that is not his fault that he doesn't have a home. I just want you to be there for him." Mum said to me. "We'll sort this like one big family, then if Freddy is well he would be adopted," Dad said. I frowned at the word adopted. Adopted as to by Dad and mum or other couples? I thought. "Another piss butt, wow." Adrian groaned. "Adrian," Mum called in a warning tone. "Sorry, mum." He quickly apologized. "When would he be here?" Elliot asked while adjusting his eyeglasses. "Today, Dad and I would go and pick him," Mum said cheerfully. "Oh great." I huffed while grabbing my backpack and walking out the front door ignoring the disapproving look mum was giving me. I went to the car and put on my seat belt while pulling out my phone and scrolling on **. A few minutes later Dad came in shutting the door and reviving the car engine, then we drove off. During the ride, he adjusted his rear mirror so he could have a good look at me. "Why are you staring at me?" I asked not looking up from my phone. "When I had seen Freddy in the hospital bed I felt like I should protect him and give him what he never had. You know Freddy was not burn dumb his vocal cords were taken forcefully." Dad said to me and I froze. I had many horrible pictures playing in my head when he said the word 'forcefully' "I shouldn't be telling you this but I felt you should know about it. Freddy needs your help to forget." He added, he had that serious expression on that gave me the creeps. "I know." I simply said. I knew for sure Freddy was not as normal as every six years old. But what I never even thought of was yet to happen. My end.
