Chapter 1- Welcome to Paradise
Chapter 1- Welcome to Paradise "Ivory! Please help me bring down your bags." Mom emphasize the word your so that she could guilt me in to helping her bring my very heavy bags down the stairs. "This would have never happen if you didn't bring the whole 'why don't you move in with your father for a year so I could make sweet loud love with my new husband'." I roll my eyes at her and grab a much lighter bag and hop down the stairs. A light blush taints my mother’s pale cheeks. "I did not say that," She stammers. "Yeah, and I don't have a vagina." I run back upstairs and grab another bag. You may see me being disrespectful to my mother, but that's how we roll. We're more like best friends than mother and daughter, I could cuss all I want and she'd never bat an eye. Bryce, my mother’s new husband, came out from the kitchen. When he saw his new wife struggling with my bags he throw a scowl at me. On the other hand this jack ass don't like me one bit and the feelings are very mutual. I don't why but maybe it because he isn't my real dad or maybe he's just a complete d**k and my mom is blinded by love to see it.  I'd rather prefer her dating my English teacher who was totally into her and man was he good looking, but no. She's had to go with this d**k wad who thinks women should stay in the kitchen, serve men food and not work. So you see the reason I hate this man my mom calls ‘husband’ "Cynthia, you shouldn't be the one carrying all of Ivory's luggage." Bryce chastise my mother who wasn’t looking at him which gave him the chance to sneer at me. "Ivory is a big girl and-" My mom cut him off. "Quite Bryce, now be a darling and help us with the luggage." He was about to protest when mom gave him the look. Ah, the look. I could totally read it. It was the 'Do it or you are not getting it tonight'. And clearly he complied. Men and their damn hormones. "Honey, are you excited to stay with your dad for a year?" Mom asks with a hopeful look on her face. You see, my dad was a bit- how should I put... I would have said bat s**t crazy, but then he's my dad so I'll stick with nuts. When I was five, he was convinced that vampires really do exists and he wanted us to join him to his journey to unveil the secret coven of the vampires, of course my mom being the only sane person at that time refused to go with him and then one thing lead to another. BAM! Divorce was going on and next thing I knew I was under the custody of my mother. "Yes, he and I could go hunting for vampires!" I sarcastically replied. It's not that I hated my father, it's just he makes the worst decisions ever. One time I called him and asked if he would like to meet up and you know what he said, "Can't, vampires are trailing my ass." and he hung up on me. Since then I never bothered contacting him because I don’t know what other weird s**t of an excuse he will make this time. So to say that my relationship with my father is great would be an understatement. "Honey, please understand your father." She grabs my last luggage and together we went down the stairs and to the car where all my stuff was. "Give him time." "Whatever." I mumble under my breath. I really wanted to give my dad a chance but I just didn’t want to hope that he would change and end up disappointed. That’s how my mother felt. He told her that one day he would give her the world but instead he gave her heartbreak. I knew it broke her. And I hated my dad for that. I felt my phone vibrate on my pocket. Hey b***h! Kyle and I are coming over, so don't you dare go yet! -Lily "Hey mom, can we like wait for a few minutes before we go, Lily and Kyle are coming over." I place my phone back on my pocket and lean on my mother’s red Honda civic. "Sure." She close the trunk of the car and went inside the passenger seat. "Ivory." Bryce sneers my name. I look up to see Bryce standing in front of me with his arms cross. Today he was wearing the ugliest sweater my eyes has ever seen and knee length shorts. His hair was push back with gel, which was disgusting to look at, and he decided not to shave his weird lip mustache and it has crumbs on it.  What the f**k, that is nasty. What if there are lice living there? Oh God, my Mom likes kissing that? "Jack ass." I spat back. See? He's a d**k was and my mother is too blind to see! "I'm so glad that you're finally going to spend some time with your father." He smiles at me. Does he really take me to be a dumb b***h? It was clear what he is trying to say to me is 'I'm so glad you’re finally out of our lives!' Well not for long d**k. A loud honk echoes through the neighborhood and I could see Lily’s black car racing through the streets.  This girl she thinks she’s in a Fast and Furious movie and someday will give Kyle a heart attack with her driving. I push myself of the car and wave like crazy at them. Lily parks her car behind our car and literally jumps out from the driver’s seat without turning off the engine and lunges at me. Her strawberry scent greets me. "I'm going to miss you baby bitch." She wails like a three year old. I laugh out loud. Seeing and watching her act like a baby made me forget my situation. She pouts at me and mess up my blonde hair, she was trying to make light of me moving away from home but I could see her green eyes tearing up. Jesus Christ, now it makes me want to cry, wail like a three year old and cling onto her till mom says I can stay. Sniffling I hug her back. "I’m going to miss you too, I hate this.” I whisper to her. “But we shouldn’t worry, we always have Facetime or Skype.” I reassure her. "f*****g christ Lily, you could have hurt yourself! Next time please turn off the engine and park like a normal person." A masculine voice scolds Lily. "But Kyle-" She pulls away from our hug and tries to protest but was cut off. "Not but’s." He glares at her for a second then turn to me. "Hey Vy," He smiles awkwardly at me while his green eyes look at me with an intensity that made my heart go ‘oh s**t, boy watcha doing? You tryna give me a heart attack?’ Kyle and Lily were twins and not just any twins but very drop dead gorgeous twins. Blond hair, green eyes, perfect body. Anyone would fall for them, and anyone includes me. I've had a crush on Kyle since the first day we first met, it was through him that I met Lily, my best friend in the world. It was second grade when Kyle saved my face from being slap by a spoilt brat and from then I have love him. Just last year I finally had the balls to tell him how I feel. I walked up to him while he was dancing with his prom partner and straight up told him “I like you Kyle. I really like you.” Though the feelings were not reciprocated and I was so embarrassed we were still cool. "I see you’re all ready to go." Kyle comments. "Yeah," I smile at him and gave him a hug. Ugh, it still very awkward. I wish I never told him about my feelings "Ivory, we have to go or you'll miss your flight!" Mom hollers at me. Her head was stuck out on the passenger side. Already? "But Lily and Kyle just arrived!" I complain. "Just hurry up!" Bryce shouts out at me and then starts the engine. I want to kick that d**k wad in the face with his non existing d**k. You sure know how to rile me up. I turn back to look at Kyle and Lily. Kyle was looking sad while Lily already had tears in her eyes and was biting her hair to muffle her sobs. "I guess this is it huh?" I try containing my tears, but it fell anyway. "Don't cry baby b***h or I'm going to cry too!" Lily sobs out and bear hug me. We fell silent for a while. "Don't expect me to cry, I'm a man for your information." Kyle states and we all burst out into laughter. That's what I like about Kyle, he can break the tension in a situation. "On the bright side, it's only a year guys and I'm going back here to finish Senior year!" I try cheering up my sobbing best friend. "You better." She sniffles and gives me a sharp look “We are going to graduate together and party hard, okay?” I smile at her and nod my head. An obnoxious horn broke our moment. "s**t face." I mutter under my breath. "He still being an asshole to you?" Kyle asks. I gave him a look and he laughs “I do not know what your mom sees in him to be honest.” He shakes his head and then smiles at me, this time it was real and not awkward. "Okay, we need a big group hug before you go and leave us." She held out her hands and Kyle and I dive straight into her arms. One of the reason why I hate moving is leaving my friends. Another honk blares. There he goes again breaking another moment of us being an emotional mess. "Jack ass is calling me." I pull away from both of them. "So skype?" I ask both of them. "Definitely." Lily answers. "No need to ask." Kyle replies. And with a heavy heart I walk towards the car, slip into the back seat and turn back to look at my friends for the last time. They were waving at me like there was no tomorrow. As the car starts to roll away from the driveway and their figures we're getting smaller a lone tear slips through my eyes. * * * "And remember, call me after when you land." Mom brushes my hair with her hand. "And don't forget to-" "Mom, chill. I remember everything you told me in the car." I smile at her, tears were pooling on her hazel green eyes and her long auburn hair was a mess. "I'm going to miss you!" She kisses my forehead then my cheek. "Me too Mom." I weakly laugh at her. "All passengers that are to board flight 233 please proceed to the station now." The girl repeats the announcement again. "I guess this is it Mom." I give her one last hug and kiss her cheeks. "Love you so much, don’t miss me too much, okay?"  Finally a tear slip through her eyes. "Love you too. And honey that is impossible, your my little peanut." She sobs. With that I turn away, well not before giving Bryce the finger, he looks at me with shock and he looks at mom hoping that she saw what I did. She didn’t notice. I snort and laugh at him. * * * "Ivory! Over here!" A tall man waving a board that had Ivory written all over it screams through the crowd. Dad. Walking towards him, I drag the only luggage that was light with me. He still looks the same as the last time I saw him, well except for the wrinkles and grey hair sprouting here and there. "Hey Dad," I awkwardly wave at him. "Hey." He replies. "Where are the rest of my luggage?" We weave through the crowd and head towards what assume was the parking area. "Already got it, it is in the truck" He winks at me and grab luggage. "Come on, I'm you’re very tired." Nodding, I follow dad. Tired would be an understatement of the day. I was not only tired, I was pissed, frustrated and I smell like the person that was seated next to me. Why you ask? Well first of all I ordered to have a window seat then out of nowhere another person was sitting at my seat, I told him that it was my seat but he wouldn't budge, I tried calling for a stewardess but the plain was f*****g crowded, so I had no choice but sit beside him. I wanted the window seat so I could listen along to sad music and just look at the view. I regretted choosing to sit beside him because he smelled so bad. I tried holding my breath but I ended up wheezing. Second, there was another person sitting beside and he was sleeping on my shoulder! He snored all throughout the flight which was why I had no sleep the whole flight. So I was sandwiched between smelly dude and salivating dude! I was sitting there, thinking of ways to torture both of their ass. We stop in front of a beaten up blue truck. It was cute and quite homey. I hop in to the passenger seat and turn on the radio. "So, tomorrow classes starts." Dad said. "What? Isn't it too early?" I jump out from my seat when a dad said that. "Not from where I live." And with that we fell silent, the only noise was the radio and the engine. Looking out the window all I could see was trees and bushes and grass and trees and lots of trees! God, I was not used to towns. How I will miss the noisy streets and guns and gangs and s**t that happens in a city. "Ivory," Dad calls. "Yeah?" Snapping out from my daze I look at Dad. "Welcome to Paradise!" He happily says. Nodding his head at the side, I look out and saw a billboard that said 'Paradise town' and below it was Population: 589. Great.
