Arriving at Waning Moon

1643 Words
Alpha Damien's POV: The drive seemed to last forever. Even though my pack was only a few hours from Jerome's, it felt like it took all day. I still don't want to have feelings for Amelia, Alison's death still kills me everyday, I'm not sure I could be open to Amelia like I was with Alison. I lost a part of myself when she was murdered. But also, when I think about Amelia's long blonde hair, voluptuous body and piercing green eyes I find myself growing hard instantly. I still do not understand why the Moon Goddess gave me a second-chance mate. The last two weeks, since the Alpha meeting, I just keep thinking she made a mistake. Amelia shouldn't be put through having someone broken like me as a mate, and I do not deserve another chance at happiness while Alison rots in the ground. The Moon Goddess's ways are so mysterious. We pull up to the front gates of Alpha Jerome's territory, the Waning Moon Pack. The gates are opened immediately by border patrol since Jerome is in the front SUV of the convoy. As we approach the packhouse I address Claire. "Claire, when we get inside and settled find Amelia, check on her and make sure she is unharmed." I said gruffly. "Don't you think you should check on her?" Claire asks, distain clear in her voice. "I told you too." I growl out. Jay gives me a dirty look, he obviously doesn't care for the way I spoke to his mate. He doesn't say anything though, surprising to me, he and Ray have been the most critical of my behavior since Alison passed away. Claire doesn't answer, instead she turns toward the window, looking at the passing scenery. When we parked, Jerome had a couple Omega's show us to the rooms we would stay in for the night. I quickly put my luggage up and headed to Jay and Claire's room, anxious to hear any news about my mate. Knock, Knock, Knock "Come in!" Jay yells through the door. As I enter, I see Claire has already left to check on Amelia. Nervous to ask if he has heard from Claire I strike up a conversation about training. After a couple minutes of small talk I feel Claire mindlink Jay and I. Amelia is fine Claire said, as a breath a sigh of relief. We discuss different border patrol strategies for another minute before we get another mindlink. She was not alone at first during the attack, Amelia and her sisters got sperated fleeing. Amelia said the rouge that she fought was untrained, he barely touched her before she knocked him over a cliff. Claire said before cutting the link again. "She's tough" Jay whispers, more to himself than me. "Yeah... I guess she is." I said back, plopping myself into a nearby chair. Getting lost in my thoughts of Alison again. Alison was never the best fighter, but she trained and tried to get better. Maybe if she was a better fighter, if I had paid more attention to training her than the pack warriors she would still be here. Maybe if she was stronger she could have held them off long enough for me to get to her. "Dude! You have to quite blaming yourself!" Jay yells in a annoyed tone, pulling me out of my spirl. "That's hard to do." I said sorrowfully. "Look Damien, I may not completely understand what you are going through, but you have to quit blaming yourself for the Luna's death. You did everything you could to save her, and thinking Alison could be stronger, really? I am just assuming that is where your train of thought went. You know she trained everyday, even during pregnancy, to be a better warrior, to protect herself and Wyatt. Blaming yourself, or her lack of strength, for her death is wrong. Sometimes the Moon Gooddess just has other plans for our lives. You were given a second-chance Alpha, dont waste it." As Jay finished his monolog, Claire came back. Shutting the door thight and locking it before turning to look at us. She didn’t have her normal cheery smile anymore, instead she looked worried. "What's wrong? I thought you said Amelia was unharmed." I said jumping up from the chair I was sitting in. Claire nods, seemingly gathering her thoughts as Jay takes her into his arm's. "What happened then?" I say in a gruff tone. "Shut up Damien!" Claire yells, surprising both Jay and I. I let out a low dominanting growl, Claire gives me a mean eye and moves from Jay to sit on the bed. "Amelia had a dream. One you should know about." Claire addresses me directly once comfortable. "According to Amelia's father she had a shared memory of Alison's death, the night after you first saw eachother at the Alpha meeting." Claire said. "Wait, a what? I have never heard of a shared memory." Jay said moving closer to Claire. "Apparently it is very rare, Amelia said her father has been doing research into the phenomenon. She explained the dream to me in detail, she saw Alison's death, she relayed details only our ranked members know. No one knows she had a shared memory with you except her family, a few elders and us. They were told to keep it quiet because it is not known how long it has been since the Moon Goddess has blessed a wolf with a shared memory, the last time it was written about was many generations ago. Also from what her father found out, it only happens between powerful or extremely close mates." Claire said the last part with hesitation. I collapsed into the chair again, my head swimming with the new information. Only happening between close or powerful mates? Well we are not close, we haven't even spoke. Does that mean we were suppose to be a power couple? You know that is what it means. My wolf, Rider, interjected. This still doesn't feel right Rider. How would Alison feel about us getting another mate? I asked him. She would want you to be happy, and to come back to Wyatt. If Amelia can help heal us and we are suppose to be powerful together, why not give it a try? Rider said before disappearing into the back of my mind. With that I got up from my seat to go down for dinner. Maybe I will try to talk to her at dinner. Jay, Claire and I made our way into the dinning hall. Amelia's scent was there but not very potent, she must have ate and left already. After sitting at the Alpha table with Alpha Jerome, Luna Ava and Luna Ada we began to eat. I only got a few bites fettuccine alfredo into my mouth when the alarms sounded. "Everyone we are under another rouge attack. All children and caregivers, please remain indoors while all available warriors report to your stations." Jerome addressed the crowd. "I'll go check on Amelia, do you know where she went?" I overheard Luna Ava whisper to Luna Ada. "No, she ate and left in a hurry" Ada answered, eyeing me as she spoke. Ava nods before heading out the dining hall doors. "Jerome, do your warriors need any help?" I asked, making sure to offer anything since we are at a ally pack. "No, they have it under control, it's only a small group. Just with it being the second attack of the day we aren't sure what they want. We are going to make sure we take one alive this time to get answers. You could help get answers later if you would like." Jerome says. I nod in acknowledgement, willing to help in whatever way needed. Alpha Jerome kisses the top of Luna Ada's head before heading out with the other warriors. Looking over at Ada I notice she looks extremely worried. "Is everything okay Luna? He said it was only a small attack." I asked her. "Oh, it's uhm....I.... nevermind." Ada rambles, never looking me directly in the eye. She goes to stand up and I grab her wrist from across the table. "Luna, if I can be of help to you in any way, please let me know." I tell her in a low voice. Luna Ada sighs and sits back down, looking around to see if anyone is paying attention. "Ava just minlinked me, she went to look for Amelia but can't find her. She was not in her guest suite or any of the main areas. Ava lost her scent in all the others due at everyone scattering to fight off the rouges. We are not sure where she is, or if she is even in the packhouse still." Ada said in hushed tones. I jump up running out of the dinning hall with tremendous speed. As soon as I got out of the doors I took a deep breath. Her sister may have lost her scent with all the others, but I know I can find her. Amelia's scent is so distinct from the others to me. Running down a series of halls, following her amazing scent of vanilla and honeysuckle I came to a set of double doors. Slamming them open with a loud thud I locked eyes with my beautiful second-chance mate. My eyes roam her curvaceous body, noting no damage done. Only then did I notice her sister standing directly beside her, she must have found her right before I did. Turning around and leaving the gym I hear my mate yell at her sister as the doors are swinging shut. "See, how am I suppose to try when he won't even speak to me!"
