Amelia really didn't want to go down for dinner and face Alpha Damien. She thought about making the excuse of fighting off a rouge to take dinner in her room, but when she evaluated the situation she decided it would make her look weak. She didn't want to seem emotional and bothered by her stoic mate. So, reluctantly Amelia trudged herself downstairs toward the dinning hall.
When Amelia got to the dinning hall doors she felt relieved she didn't smell her mate. She thought if she made sure to speak to plenty of people, and eat something small at a fast pace she could still successfully avoid Damien. She didn't want to look weak to ally pack's by staying in her room but she also didn't exactly want to face her problems head on at the moment.
The kitchen Omega's had gone all out for a visiting Alpha. They made baked spaghetti and fettuccine alfredo for a main course, with side salads and garlic knots, there was also wine flowing in most people's cups. With werewolves having an extremely high metabolism it was quite a feat for anyone there to actually get drunk, so alcohol was served with most dinners.
Amelia made herself a small plate at the buffet and made her way to the Alpha table to sit with her sister, Ada, who was already eating. Bowing her head to Alpha Jerome in a show of respect, Amelia took the seat to Ada's left.
"Where is Ava?" Amelia leaned in and asked Ada.
"She is waiting for the last of the parents to pick up their children. There were a few pack members on repair duties that haven't finished. She should be here soon." Ada said smiling at Amelia.
Amelia nods her head in acknowledgement before diving into her food. She finished in record time, politely excusing herself from the table before Ada and Alpha Jerome were through with their meal. Amelia pulled out her phone and air pods as she walked through the halls toward the packhouse gym. Starting Olivia Rodrigo "Good 4 u," she popped the air pods into her ears.
Amelia was in her own little world letting the music sing to her soul as she walked through the double doors into a empty gym. Doing a few stretches to warm up her muscles Amelia tried to clear her mind of any troublesome thoughts. Just as she got on the treadmill and began a long run, Ava bursts through the doors frantically. Wide-eyed she looks around and calms when she sees Amelia staring back at her surprised. Amelia pulled her air pods out of her ears as Ava shuffles her way to her.
"Amelia you scared us! There was an attempted rouge entry at the eastern border. I couldn't mindlink you, you won't in your room, and you didn't tell Ada where you were going." Ava said as she grabs Amelia and pulls her into a massive hug.
"I've been here since I left the dinning hall. I was listening to music so I didn't hear the alarms going off, and I blocked out mindlink just to try and clear my mind. I'm sorry if I scared you." Amelia says as they pull apart.
Just then, the double doors to the gym fly open, banging into the walls with a massive thud. Standing infront of them with his chest heaving up and down was Alpha Damien. He let his eyes run the length of Amelia's voluptuous body, before turning around and walking away without one word.
ALPHA DAMIEN'S POV:
I was in my office, meeting with a nearby pack's Alpha, Alpha Jerome, when he got a frantic mindlink from his Gamma. There had been a rouge attack on his pack grounds. My interest was peeked at the new information. He had to cut our meeting short so he could check on his two twin mates and the rest of his pack members. The few details coming in to begin with sounded like more of a random attack, not a carefully coordinated strike like was planned against my pack. The attack that killed my first mate, Alison.
Packing his paperwork into his briefcase Jerome and I listened to his Beta give more details about injuries and property damage as they came in. I was still half listening but not taking in all of the details since it didn't pertain to my pack. That is, until he mentioned Jerome's mates sister being attacked alone while on a run. I knew my second-chance mate was one of Jerome's mates sister's.
"Which sister?" I asked, trying to hold the emotion in my voice back.
"I'm not sure." Jerome's Beta tells me. Grabbing him by the collar, hoisting him into the air, I yelled in his face. "I asked you, which sister?!"
Jerome grabs my arm, pushing me back roughly and ripping us apart. Huffing and puffing I try to regain my composure.
"I know you are having some personal issues with my sister-in-law Damien, but do not put your hands on my pack members again or our alliance will be abolished. You DO NOT want to make an enemy out of me." Jerome warned, putting emphasis to the do not.
"Yeah, I didn't mean to loose my cool. My head has been scrambled the last couple weeks. Sorry Beta." I said addressing them both.
Jerome's Beta, who I can never remember his name, gives a slight bow before retreating from the room. Jerome latches his briefcase, looking up at me intently.
"It was Amelia. She is safe, only a few scrapes and bruises." He says walking toward my office door. Turning back around he pauses before speaking again.
"If it would put you at ease, you are welcome to come with us back to the packhouse and check on her. Just try to keep it together. She's a sweet and beautiful girl Damien, she deserves better. After dinner we can finish up this meeting in my office." I nodded at him, grabbing my things and heading to the door.
I mindlinked Jay and Claire to meet me outside. I wanted Claire to go with as a buffer with Amelia. She seemed to like Claire from the limited interactions Claire told me about.
