The week after Amelia got home was slow and depressing. All she could think about was Damien. His hot and cold nature. The attraction that she couldn't deny. How he attacked her brother.
Amelia did her normal daily routines everyday. Running five miles in human form, 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 lunges, 100 squats, and running five more miles in wolf form. She also sparred with one of her brothers for at least an hour during the weekdays. Amelia was at her top physical capability. Her emotions were all over the place though.
Amelia's younger sister, Ariel, suggested Amelia go to Damien's pack and try to talk to him. Amelia just couldn't get the nerve to confront her mate yet. She was afraid he would officially reject her.
Amelia knew that Damien would be coming for a visit in 2 weeks for a missed treaty meeting with her father and Aaron. She wanted to sort out her feelings to be able to confront him then. She decided going to her older sister's pack and getting advice from them might help her. Ava and Ada's pack only being a two hour drive from her pack.
She arrived on a Thursday night, planning to stay the weekend. Amelia had a wonderful meal with her sister's that night, catching up and joking together. Amelia felt more normal that night than she had since she first met her mate. After dinner they watched movies together in her sister's bed. Their mate, Alpha Jerome, being out of town for business that night, Amelia just slept with her sister's.
The next morning, Amelia woke up to an empty bed. She dressed in black leggings and a hot pink sports bra, before going to find Ava and Ada. They were in the pack house kitchen helping the kitchen Omega's to make breakfast.
"It smells delicious, what are you cooking?" Amelia asked, taking a seat on a stool at the kitchen island.
"Eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, biscuits and fruit parfait." Ava said while cracking an egg.
"Did you want to train with us this morning?" Ada asked, dicing strawberries for the parfaits.
"Yeah, I would like that." Amelia told her.
Ada and Ava finished helping with breakfast, the three of them making plates and finding seats in the dining room.
"So, how are you holding up really Amelia?" Ada asked, taking a bite of her scrambled eggs.
"It hurts." Amelia whispered, not looking up at them. Ava and Ada gave eachother a knowing look.
"Look Amelia I know it hurts. You have always dreamed of a perfect mate, but people aren't perfect. You have been dealt a tough hand, I can't imagine what it feels like to be a second chance mate, but the Goddess doesn't make mistakes. You are meant to be with him, it will work out in time." Ada said in a low voice.
Amelia looked up, making eye contact with Ada. Her eye's misty, on the verge of braking into a sob.
"From what Jerome told us, Alpha Damien had it hard. He watched his first mate die in front of his eye's. That has to be devastating. I think you should try to get through to him, just don't give up so quickly." Ava said.
Amelia nods, still unsure of what to do. She has always been a true believer in the mate bond and the Goddess gift. Amelia knew in the back of her mind she should go to him, to give it a chance. To try and create a bond with her mate, but she was also afraid of rejection.
Amelia enjoyed training with another pack. She spared with both Ava and Ada. The three of them deciding to go for a long run in wolf form after working out. Stipping and shifting into their wolves before taking off into the woods. Amelia felt free with the wind blowing through her fur. Winnie was panting in her head, enjoying being with her sister's wolves again.
After running and playing for some time, Winnie perked up. Amelia searched the area with her eye's, looking for anything out of the ordinary. However, she didn't see or hear anyone. Ava and Ada seemed to notice the change in atmosphere too, because the fur on the back of their necks were standing up.
Watch your backs, I smell rouges. Ada mindlinks.
They sprinted back to the pack house, rouges chasing them closely. Amelia got separated from her sister's when a rouge jumped into her path. She dashed the other way, the rouge hot on her heels.
Not knowing the area Amelia didn't know she was running straight towards a cliff. She stopped just shy of running over the edge, shifting back into human form. The river rushing below her. Amelia was barely able to jump out the the way when the rouge tried to tackle her.
She got in a fighting stance, ready for another attack. The rouge growled lowly at her, jumping to his feet and shifting. He ran at her again, now in human form. Amelia noted the rouge seemed to be fighting with no apparent strategy to his attacks. Amelia dodged him, landing a blow to his rib cage as he ran past. The rouge winced, growling again, before lunging at her.
This time Amelia wanted to end the fight. She dodged his punch to the face, grabbing his arm and twisting it behind his back hard. Kicking him from behind and taking the rouge to the ground she twisted his arm roughly, dislocating his shoulder.
He rolled over abruptly grabbing Amelia's leg and knocking her to the ground, on top of his naked body. The rouge tried to roll Amelia over, pinning her under him, only she kneed him in the testicles with all her strength. He screamed, grabbing his genitals, giving Amelia a chance to roll away from him. She jumped to her feet preparing for another attack.
The rouge stood up slowly, stumbling towards Amelia. He was mere feet from the cliff's edge, so Amelia ran at him with all her might. Slamming into the rouge, he stumbled back before falling off the cliffs edge to his death.
Amelia gave control to Winnie before slowly walking back to the pack house. Mindlinking Ava on the way, checking on her and Ada, and letting them know she killed a rouge.
