Maybe he knew he'd gone way too far. David started acting all soft and attentive out of nowhere. Back when I still fussed over his health, I'd carefully prep every single meal for him. Now, though? He was the one cooking me meals to bring to work, of all things. I couldn't taste a single shred of sincerity in his food anymore.
