When Sienna woke up, she was lying on the soft king-sized bed inside the mansion.
Nikolai leaned over her, his long fingers carefully applying medicine to her wounds as he lowered his gaze and said quietly, "I only told those people to scare you a little. Was it really worth trying to kill yourself over? I had this special medicine flown in overnight from overseas. Does it still hurt?"
When she remained silent, Nikolai softened his tone.
"Lucie has already forgiven you. From now on, I’ll treat you the same way I used to. Sienna, whatever you want, I’ll make it up to you."
Make it up to her?
Sienna stared at the glaring red marks on his neck, and a trace of mockery rose in her heart.
She truly wanted to cut open his chest and see what kind of heart he had.
How could he hurt her so mercilessly, sleep with the woman he loved, and then calmly pretend to care about her afterward, talking about compensation as if nothing had happened?
Sienna silently mocked herself. Then she handed him an agreement and spoke softly, "Didn’t you say you wanted to compensate me? Then sign it."
Nikolai curled his lips into a smile, assuming she had finally decided to compromise. His mood visibly improved.
"It’s rare for you to ask me for anything voluntarily. Do you want designer handbags, a sports car, another mansion, or maybe a luxury coastal estate?"
Instinctively, he reached to open the document, but before he could, Lucie’s complaining voice drifted in from the living room.
"Nikolai, where did you go? The baby kicked again. Come rub my stomach for me."
Sienna glanced at him indifferently.
Nikolai cleared his throat awkwardly. Without even reading the document, he signed it while explaining, "Lucie’s pregnancy has been unstable lately, so she’s staying here for a few days to recover. Don’t misunderstand."
After speaking, he deliberately paused for two seconds.
He expected her to cry, make a scene, or hysterically question him. He had even prepared excuses to calm her down.
But nothing happened.
Nikolai looked up in surprise. When he saw the complete indifference on her face, he frowned.
"You’re not angry."
Sienna replied calmly, "You’re helping take care of your late brother’s widow. That’s understandable."
Nikolai’s brows tightened instantly. A strange feeling rose inside him, as though something had slipped beyond his control.
"You…" He wanted to continue, but Lucie urged him again impatiently. After hesitating for a moment, he hurried away.
Not far off, Lucie revealed a smug smile. When she saw that Sienna showed no reaction at all, she became even bolder with her provocations.
She deliberately stole Sienna’s sapphire necklace, wedding ring, and jade bracelet. She even allowed her dog to urinate and defecate all over Sienna’s clothes, and she secretly changed the mansion’s security passcode.
Yet Sienna remained expressionless.
She carefully stored away the divorce agreement before dialing a number she had not contacted in years.
"Didn’t you say you wanted the Lennox Group to collapse? I have plenty of evidence in my hands. Meet me at the usual place in five days."
After hanging up, she packed her luggage and booked a flight home for the following day.
Lucie leaned lazily against the doorway and suddenly laughed.
Sienna paused and looked up at her. "What are you laughing at?"
The smile on Lucie’s face twisted slightly with jealousy.
"Sienna, don’t think I can’t see through your little game. You’re just pretending to leave, so Nikolai will chase after you. The position of Mrs. Lennox belongs to me alone. Since you refuse to know your place, I’ll give you a special gift." After saying that, Lucie turned around and left.
A faint sense of unease rose inside Sienna’s chest, but she reminded herself that she would be leaving tomorrow. Surely Lucie would not act that quickly.
However, in the middle of the night, she suddenly received a phone call from her mother.
The moment the call connected, she heard heartbroken sobbing.
"Sienna! Nikolai sent people to demolish our old family house! They even scattered your father’s ashes and fed them to stray dogs! That was the only thing our mother and daughter had left to remember him by!”
Those words struck into Sienna’s chest like a knife. Her emotions completely collapsed.
She rushed into the bedroom and grabbed Nikolai’s sleeve with trembling hands.
"Why? My mother treated you so well. Why would you do something like this?"
Violent emotions surged through Nikolai’s eyes as he sneered coldly.
"Lucie’s parents were deliberately hit by a car. When she heard the news, she nearly jumped off a building and killed herself and the baby. And you still dare ask me why? I thought you had finally realized your mistake. I never expected you to become even more vicious."
Sienna stared at him in disbelief. "You think… I tried to kill someone?"
Nikolai let out a cold laugh. "If it wasn’t you, then who else could it have been? Sienna, since you dared hurt her parents, I’ll make you experience the pain of losing your own family!"
He turned toward the servants and barked an order. "Lock her in the isolation room and let her reflect on what she’s done!"
Sienna struggled violently as she shouted, "Let me go! I didn’t do anything! Investigate it if you don’t believe me!"
But no one listened to her explanation.
The bodyguards forcefully dragged her into the isolation room. The heavy iron door slammed shut behind her.
But the next instant, countless venomous snakes suddenly appeared inside the dark room.
Their cold bodies slithered across the floor as glowing green eyes fixed themselves on her. The snakes raised their heads and hissed sharply.
Terrified beyond reason, Sienna desperately pounded on the iron door.
"Help me! Open the door! There are snakes in here!"
