chapter 14

piper.

it's been a few days of me avoiding neals messages. he just keeps checking in and I don't know what to say so I don't respond because I put on my brave face for sadie but in reality I'm not okay. today as I'm getting ready to leave for work mom looks at me worried " I'm fine mama" I say as I kiss her goodbye. she just nods, I haven't gone into detail about what's going on with her but I did let her know that's I'm just not sure about our relationship she of course disagreed with this. tonight sadie is going to their house because they have plans to go to the beach tomorrow and I'm going to meet them there after I get some rest.

I'm pulling into work when my phone chimes I sigh loudly before checking it but I see it's only maddy.

maddy- hey girl! I've heard about everything and I promise you neal isn't cheating from what I I'm understanding he really just wants you to hear him out. promise I'm on your side and hopefully we can still be friends

I watch as blade tells him something and he simply nods waving down Jim and getting another shot. I watch as he takes it sets the glass down and slowly makes his way to me. I watch his every move trying to figure out how this is going to go but he stops right beside us " can I cut in?" he asks his blue grey eyes never leaving mine

" not tonight bud" gabe says

but I simply stop dancing and nod.

gabe mumbles something but walks away

as he slowly takes me in his arms I wrap mine around his neck taking in the smell of the world and his mixture of cinnamon. I instantly feel like I'm at home and safe in his large arms I just want to cry but I contain myself as he puts his head beside my ear and starts whispering the lyrics to me sending a wave of pleasure straight through my body.

I rushed back to the bar, maddy had let me know piper was at least okay because she had replied to her so it's just me she's avoiding and I can't take it anymore.

a few other guys are outside of the bar along with Maddy when blade and I pull up

" figured if a few of us showed up maybe she wouldn't run to fast" maddy says trying to smile

I just nod my head and head for the door.

when I get inside my eyes find her first in the arms of f*****g gabe. I swear if I wasn't trying to get her to talk to me I'd rip his arms off of her and show him how I ended up with the name gunner. I go to the bar and take a shot, my eyes watching her and she's watching me. good girl I think to myself at least she knows daddy is here. blade tells me to go about this calmly as she's got a rough past and I just nod taking one more shot before I go to her. I shut off my bike and get my phone out and call her mom's number

sherry- hello?

she says half asleep

neal- hey Mrs sherry I'm sorry for waking you, it's neal. I'm outside pipers house but no one is here.

sherry- it's no problem. I have sadie here for the night. everything okay?

neal-it will be. is there a key anywhere?

sherry- yes around back under the plant by the back door. care to explain to me what is going on

neal- your daughter is stubborn. I've given her the space but now we need to talk. it's her choice after I explain things to her

sherry- good luck

I chuckle

neal-thank you ma'am

we hang up and I get the whiskey and food I picked up set by the swing, I start a small fire and open the back door so she knows where I am. now I just wait.

when I got back to work I figured he'd stay and order something but to my surprise he left. I let out a long sigh as I continue working, I don't know what to do or even say to him. my brain is on over drive trying to figure him out.

I take care of my table the rest of the night including his biker buddies.

when I pull into my driveway I notice his bike is here. I'm suddenly nervous, is he pissed I've been ignoring him? will this end bad. I take a deep breath as I make my way into the house, from the front door I can see that the back door is open so I throw my things down and make my way there. as I get outside I see him sitting on my swing by the fire, I slowly make my way to him trying to figure out how to approach him but to my surprise he speaks first getting up and offering me his hand.

I give him a small smile as I set the food down and place my legs close to my chest
