The encounter
Chapter 1 Samantha's POV And here we are again… *Bang* "What exactly is your problem woman? Do you know how much it cost to buy one of these plates for those fancy rich people?" My manager yelled at me as he pointed at the four broken dishes scattered on the floor. "Each plate cost over fifty dollars and yet you can freely smash it like you bought it with your own money. Your payment would be delayed this month and the next and all your last months outstanding would be held because of this accident." He said before walking out of the kitchen. I rest my back against the kitchen cabinet as I looked at the ticking clock. It was thirty minutes to my shift at the clubhouse and my shift here was up. I forced myself up and my eyes wandered to the plate of steak in the microwave and I heard my stomach growl but I ignored it and walked out of the restaurant through the staff's door. I had a lot to deal with and I had to make enough for rent before I was thrown out of the apartment with my daughter. I walked down the street thinking of how miserable my life was becoming day by day and the only reason I kept going was because of Ariel. Few years ago, I was humiliated and had to give everything up in order to raise her on my own and I would not let anything at me back on this my goal. I will make sure she grows up not to make the same stupid choice I made when choosing a man. I picked up the pace of my walk to get to the clubhouse early so my shift money won't be deducted. I was short on a few hundred dollars already and I couldn't let that happen again. "Yo, Sam. Get to the counter quickly. Men are waiting for their drinks already." Assistant Manager Jo said and I hummed before walking into the staffs only door and changed to get my shift started. I would never get used to the loud and ears deafening sounds of the clubhouse. The place was filled with the scent of different mixtures of alcohol and the person who was on the shift before me dashed past me angrily because he had used about ten mins from my shift which was extra time, and he wouldn't be paid for it. I knew our customers rarely paid us tips and that's how the stuff works. It's a VIP kinda club and all their payments were either already down or would be paying with cards. I leaned against the counter for a few seconds to get myself straight. I haven't had a stable meal since two days now and now it was having an effect on me. I was hungry but had nothing to eat so I'll just push till the end of my shift. "Sam, three shots immediately." One of the waiter said and i immediately got to job. I didn't want to slack off either so I won't be paying the price. I wouldn't have found myself here if I had not made.the mistake of getting married to Charlie. I would never believe if I was told I would be someone struggling for ends meet this time years ago. My family, my life, my career, my reputation, everything, Charlie ruined it and I was forced to leave the city in order to hide my face from the countless of shameful questions they threw at me back then in Moonlight city. I had to escape here in Silver Lining and have been raising my child, away from the face of the public here. The child her father never knew he had. "Hurry up Samantha. The people are waiting." The waiter yelled at me frustrated. The people here weren't actually nice either. It was every man for himself in the working class degree of this city. We weren't paid enough for the jobs we were doing and this made lots of the workers cranky to each other. If not because of my best friend, Ariel too would be starving as I was starving myself. A sigh escaped my lips as I dropped the cups before him and he took it away. I looked at the guy who was sitting not far from the counter, looking at me with curiousity in his eyes. He looked very familiar and I knew he came to the clubhouse often but still, I haven't been able to lay hands on where and when I met him but it is better for me because him knowing who I was is me trying to cover up for myself. I didn't have the ability to move again and it would be bad for Ariel to start changing locations. I continued to work as hard as I could but I noticed this guy wouldn't stop looking at me and it was getting quite uncomfortable. One of the customers sat before me and handed out his card. "I glass of tropical mix beautiful." He said winking at me. It was gross but we have to just do whatever it is to please the customers so I just smiled and made him what he wanted. "So tell me beautiful, does the club allow to have a night with their workers. Because I've been watching you sweetheart and you look hella hot." He winked at me again and I just rolled my eyes inwardly as I dropped glass of wine politely before him and he held my hand looking into my eyes. "Even your looks alone is intoxicating. I would love it if the clubhouse can let us have a night together here, in front of everyone. I can pay you half of my net worth for that honey." "Sorry, I'm not interested." I slipped my hand out of his as I got back to work but I could feel is lustful eyes on me and I was getting more and more uncomfortable and to make matters worse, I was getting tired already and I had one hour left before the end of my shift. "Oohh come on sweetheart. I know it is people like you who would be curious to see what men like us feel like in bed. I'm sure you would have fantasized about it." As if. I rolled my eyes and carried on with my work, acting as if he didn't exsist. It seemed to hurt him that I kept ignoring him even after he claimed to get another glass of tropical mix. I knew the alcohol was an overdose once it's twice and we've been strictly forbade of it. "Don't worry girlie. I'll make sure I have you tonight. Trust me." He said before staggering away and I just rolled my eyes before looking in the direction of that guy. He was looking at me again, and now with so much interest. I had enough of it and just then, the clock ticked and the person taking over my shift arrived. I sighed a sigh of relief. I could finally go home and find something to eat. Maybe branch by the homeless shelter to get some food to eat tomorrow morning. I pushed the staff's exit door open and I stepped out I to the dark alley as I pulled up my coat. Before I could take a few steps away from the door after it slammed shut, I saw a group of men staring at me. "Well well, what do we have here?" They said as they moved towards me. I couldn't register their face because I was feeling very hungry and dizzy already and I had no cash on me to buy what to eat. The three of them approached me, staggering and as I tried to dash out of their sight, I was grabbed by one of them and I let out a loud cry. The man's grip was so tight I could literally feel the blood flowing stop. "Shhh little girl. We'll give you the best pleasure of your life." He whispered as the other two approached me, trying to take off there clothes. I swung my fist to hit the man but he just caught my other hand and pinned me harshly to the wall. "She looks young and sexy." The one of the other two said and I winced at the pain running through my body due to the guy's grip. I felt even more weak and dizzy but I had to keep myself up and fight back or I'll be messed up by these guys. "Let go of her." I heard another masculine voice and the next thing I knew was sounds of crashing and me falling to the ground as I looked up at that guy who had been staring at me or so my eyes could see, fighting the three guys and as soon as he approached me, after dealing with the guys, I felt everything go blank and dark.
