Book 1: Chapter 2

792 Words
~Mercury~ My eyes are closed. It's dark. My head is killing me. I have no idea what time it is. It feels like I have been sleeping for days. I try to remember what I was last doing. I open my eyes and it's still dark. I try to look around but it's hard to see. My vision is blurry for some reason. Then I remember. Ivan. I was at my car and the man named Ivan stabbed me with a needle. Oh s**t. Where am I? How long have I been out? I was kidnapped. Is this about money? Are they hoping to get ransom money from my dad? I'm in some sort of cell. Low brick wall with bars that make the wall go all the way to the top. I look at the cell door. There's a tag of some sort on it. It's white. I look across and see another girl in another cell. She has a tag too but hers is yellow. My body hurts but I attempt to get up to go over to the cell door. That is when I notice I'm not wearing the same clothes as I was when Ivan stabbed me. I'm wearing loose gray sweatpants and a gray T-shirt. I check myself and I no longer have panties or a bra on. Whoever changed me saw me naked and that gives me an uncomfortable chill. I can't stand because of the pain but I manage to crawl across the cold concrete floors to the door. "Hey, can you hear me?" I whisper to the girl across from me. She is sitting against the back wall with her head between her knees, her long blonde hair hanging down. She wears the same gray outfit as me. The girl looks up at me. Her eyes and cheeks look hollow like she hasn't been eating or sleeping much. "Are you crazy? Don't make too much noise or they'll hear you." She looks more scared than anything. "Who will hear? Where are we?" "You must be new," the girl says to me with a sad look on her face, "I'm sorry this happened to you. These men are bad. You don't want to make them angry." She moves closer to the cell door so I can hear her better. "I can tell they're bad. The one guy stabbed me with a needle. My question is what do they want from us?" The girl shakes her head and looks at me. "Have you not figured it out yet? Men kidnapping a bunch of young females off the street. These guys are part of a s*x trafficking mob." Oh my god. I can't believe this is happening. s*x trafficking? I'm going to be sold to some random person and I'm never going to be seen again. Not that it mattered I guess. School is done so no one will know if I don't show up and my dad won't be sober enough to notice. I'm screwed. I look up at the yellow tag on the blonde girl's cell door. "What do those tags mean?" She looks up at mine. "the tags indicate how used you are." "Used? What do you mean?" "White means pure or virgin. Yellow means non-virgin. Black means damaged. Like the girl has had a baby." I look up at mine. It's white. They marked me as pure, as a virgin. This is true because people don't like me, so I haven't even been near a man like that, but how did they know? "How did they know what to mark me? I didn't tell the guy that drugged me and I just woke up now." "They check you when you're passed out. They look for stretch marks and they check your hymen. I heard them say they usually give you more drugs when you arrive to make sure you don't wake up till they are done and you're in your cell." the girl looks at me and must see the shock on my face. "Don't worry, they didn't touch you other than that. They aren't allowed to touch the girls marked white. The boss wants to keep them pure." I look at her. "And what about the ones marked yellow and black?" "We just have to deal with it. I've learned it's done quicker if I'm quiet and don't fight." "That's horrible!" I loudly whisper. The girl shushed me and shrugged. "It's better than fighting and getting beat." Just then, we hear the voices of men coming towards us. "Get back to the wall and don't look at them!" the blonde girl says as she crawls back. I do as she told me to and hurry to the wall where I woke up.
