unexpected love

CHAPTER 1 .LIV. Why does it always seem to rain when you're sad? Large heavy drops falling on the car causing visibility to be slim. Next exit is my exit and it's less than half a mile up. I switch lanes to take my exit. I will find a rest stop, get some food for the kids and wait out the rain for a little while. Turning right off the exit ramp in the direction the sign points for food, gas, lodging, Owen wakes up in the back seat “hey aunt liv I’m hungry. Can we stop soon and eat.” rubbing is baby blue eyes sitting up trying to see where we are. I force myself to smile. I can't let Owen or Becca see me sad thinking about my sister their mother. “Already headed to find food little dude, when we find some I will call aunt stel let her know we made it to town.” at this point it's becs turn to wake up and look around. “ aunt live why is your aura sad what's wrong what happened” I sigh I should have known when she woke up bec would know. “ i'm alright bec its ok. I was just thinking about your mother. God knows how much I miss her.” bec and owen stay silent until a diner comes into view “oooo ooooo oooo a diner I love diners stop there aunt liv.” owen loves small town diners he swears they have the best food. Without saying a word I pull into a parking space and we head in. Ma’s diner was the name and it was adorable, a sign when you walk in says seat yourself, finding a booth by the window we sit watching the rain fall. I pull out my phone and text stel hey girl just wanted to say we made it to town at mas diner owen was hungry see you soon. I'm watching the rain as it starts to ease up alittle, when an older woman in a pink uniform comes to the table with menus “ well hello folks how are we doing today? Can i get you any drinks to start off?'' The older woman's name tag reads gina. “Gina can i get some coffee and two cokes for the kids.” she smiles sweetly at me and the kids “sure thing i will be right back to take your order” gina turns away the woman seems really nice. “Her aura shows pain but lots of happiness and positivity she seems like shes a genuinely a good person. I like her” bec says when gini is far enough away to not hear our conversation anymore. People tend to get weirded out when they find out bec is able to read your aura and can tell by just a handshake if you have good or bad intentions. Their is so much we don't know about becs gift that we don't understand yet shes only 16 and her gift showed when she was ten and have grown ever since. Gina reappears with our drinks “ here you go darlings now what can i get you to eat?” she has a smile thats contagious you cant help but smile back. “Bacon cheeseburger with onion rings please” owen gets out first “ a regular cheeseburger with fries please” gini writes becs and owens orders then she looks at me. “I will have the same as bec please” i smile at her “got it be back soon my dears” gina walks off as if she doesn't have a care in the world. “Stel what are you doing here i thought i told you we are good and we would see you soon.” i say to my brother in law's sister and best friend since high school. Flinging her damp red hair over her shoulder she hugs each of the kids then takes a seat next to me in the booth. “ girl you think that i wouldn't take the opportunity to see my bestie and my niece and nephew. I had todd drop me off so that i could ride with you to the house and help you guys get settled in the uhaul guys already dropped off everything off todd and some of the guys helped bring it into the house” i could only nod i feel exhausted a 6 hour drive from my sister and brother in laws home in suburbia to this small town of spring haven to live close to stell and todd the only family the kids and i have left. “ here you dears go. Would you like me to go get you something stella it's good to see you my dear.'' Gina pulls out her notepad to write down an order for stel. “Im good gina i'm just going to steal half of livs” i pull my plate away from her before she could grab a fri “ gina will you get her a bacon cheeseburger and fries please this girl will eat all my food if she doesn't get her own” i have to keep slapping stels hand to keep her from my fries. “Sure thing” is all she can say as she walks away laughing at our antics. “Can't take you two any where” owen says with a full mouth “ or you for that matter owen chew then talk” bec says in a grossed out voice but you can see shes trying not to laugh.
