Richard’s POV

I stared at the drink in my hand deep in thought. We will be attacking Clara’s kingdom this night, it’s going to be a surprise attack.

We planned to attack them tomorrow morning but it looks like there’s a spy in our midst that has informed them about the attack, so we’re going to strike tonight.

I can’t wait to destroy that kingdom and turn the survivors into my slave. Clara is going to be among the slaves and I can’t wait to turn her into my s*x worker. I’m going to f**k her mercilessly every day.

*Night time*

I gathered the guards and together, we went to Clara’s Kingdom. The gates were locked when we got there and everywhere was silent like a graveyard. Perfect!

I’m sure everyone of them must be fast asleep by now. We just have to go in and take over the kingdom. Dad will be really proud of me when I return home.

I signaled the guards to brake the gates with the irons we brought and they proceeded immediately. Within few minutes, the gates were broken and we marched in.

Clara’s POV

I stirred uncomfortably in my sleep. Why am I finding it difficult to sleep? After minutes of rolling in my bed, I finally sat up. Does this mean something bad is about to happen?

Anytime if find it difficult to sleep like this, it means something bad is about to happen.

I left my bed and went to my study room. I just sat down staring at nothing in particular when suddenly, the thoughts of Jason came into my mind.

I don’t know why he cloud my thoughts these days. Sometimes, I just wish we lived in the same place. I shook my head and cleared those thoughts off my head.

I decided to go through a book I got recently from the palace library. I hadn’t gone far when I heard sounds from the gate. Who could be trying to go out this late at night?

I paid no attention to it and continued reading my book but I had to stop when I heard sounds like someone was trying to break down the gate.

I quickly went back to my room and rang the alarm. Only the palace guards and warriors will hear the alarm. Other people outside the palace won’t be able to hear it.

Within few minutes, the guards all gathered at the hall where I was already waiting.

“Some people are trying to break the gate, who are they?” I asked the guards

“We don’t know yet your highness. We came as soon as you rang the alarm” one of them answered

"Alright, there's no need to panic. We were preparing for a war tomorrow so you guys should be fully ready. Just position yourselves and get ready for war, I will be with you shortly" I said and left for my chamber to wear my armour

We all positioned ourselves in secret places with just few guards on horses at the entrance of the gate.

Immediately they broke the gate, they started sneaking in probably thinking everyone of us are asleep. They will never forget this defeat in twenty years to come.

Sneaking up on your enemy when they are asleep shows cowardice but when you get defeated by them, the shame is the most unbearable.

"Attack!!!" I screamed and the soldiers attacked

The war is supposed to be a surprise for us but it's a surprise battle for them now because they expected us to be fast asleep.

Sounds of swords and different ear equipments could be heard and I can say my men are doing really well.

We still don't know which kingdom attacked us yet because we can't see their flag.

I sat on my horse and watched the men as they fought when suddenly, I felt someone shoot an arrow behind me.

I dodged it and jumped down from my house before the second arrow touched me and when I looked at the person, I discovered it was Richard?

Like seriously? This is the best he can do? Attacking a kingdom headed by a lady at the middle of the night? I never knew he could stoop so low.

"I never knew your father raised a coward. Thank goodness I found out earlier" I said with a smirk

I was already back on my horse and we were now facing each other in the midst of the war.

"Don't you dare talk about my father that way. I'm going to defeat you and make you my s*x slave" he growled angrily

"You and I know that will only happen in your wildest dreams. You can never defeat me and that was why you decided to sneak up on me. But still, you're a loser!

See your soldiers, they're all going to be conquered by mine soon so we will see who is going to be who's slave" I said with a smirk

He got angry and picked a fight with me. In no time, we were fighting fiercely with each other. Our warriors stopped fighting and focused on us, each awaiting the winner.

After fighting for close to thirty minutes, I finally subdued him with my sword pointed at his throat.

I felt someone shot an arrow behind me but instead of dodging it, I turned back and the arrow met me at my chest.

I coughed out blood and my men quickly came to assist me to the physician while the rest continued fighting with the enemy.

Immediately my back touched the bed, I lost consciousness.

Jason's POV

I rolled on my bed back and forth uncomfortably. Something definitely doesn't feel right but I don't know what it is.

I sat up in bed and just kept staring around until I felt a sharp pain in my chest.

"Ouch!!" I groaned and held my chest falling back to the floor

After some minutes, the pain started reducing until it finally disappeared! What a relief!

But what's the meaning of what just happened? I felt a pain in my chest just when I was in bed and it disappeared as it came?

Wow! Just wow!

I went back to sleep only to wake up at exactly 10:00am! What?!! How could I have slept this long?

This is the first time this is happening to me and I don't know what's wrong. I just hope I'm fine.

I hurried to the bathroom and took a quick bath before going outside. I drove to work speedily and in no time I was at my company.

"Where have you been Jason? Don't tell me you've been at home because I'm not buying that. I know you will never stay at home up till this time, so where did you go?" June asked immediately I entered my office

Looks like she's been here for a while. What do I tell her now because I also don't understand how I slept that long?

"Errm.... You see June, I overslept"

"I don't believe you because it has never happened"

"I'm saying the truth June. Okay, how about if I say I felt a pain in my chest in the middle of the night. It was like I was stabbed but I didn't see any blood"

"Have you gotten Clara's surname?"

"No, I haven't seen her since then"

"I have a feeling this girl is bad luck so stay away from her"

"You always have a bad feeling. Don't worry, Clara is a good girl. Trust me!"

"Alright then, I will be on my way"
