17 Gabriel had halfway been expecting to get stopped by a group of Castillo witches and warlocks the next morning when he and Ava quietly left the house before seven o’clock, but no one was around to see them climb into the automated cab that would take them to the Railrunner station. Neither did anyone seem to take any particular notice of the two of them as they seated themselves on one of the train cars, their few pieces of luggage held close so they wouldn’t get in the way of their fellow travelers, most of whom were only taking day trips to Albuquerque and therefore didn’t have anything bulkier with them than a laptop case or a backpack.
