Neither man spoke as they walked along, enjoying the blue sky above them and, over the foliage shrouded in haze, the endless carpet of the city reaching out in all directions. “What’s on your mind?” “Funny, I was just going to ask you the same question.” “You go first then.” “I’ve been thinking about putting the restaurant up for sale, selling my loft, and leaving the city, maybe going north to Oregon or Alaska, maybe even Arizona or someplace…I don’t know,” Don said. “I know you’re angry, but maybe after you calm down and sleep on it, things will seem better.
