Chapter 5: Battle of endurance.

I glared at Daisy for entering into my room without even a knock. She scratched the back of her head apologetically with a sly smile on her lips.   “So, what do you plan to do about Arnav?” “Arnav?” “What’s with that look? Arnav, your fiance! What are you planning on doing with him? Don’t tell me you already forgot the incident this morning!”   Daisy gave me a questionable look. To be honest, I really did forget about it for a while. As I scratched the back of my head, I gave her my honest opinion.   “I will leave him to you. Do whatever you see fit.” I could see that she was not convinced by what I said since she looked a little hesitant.   “Do you really believe that I will marry him just because I was forced into that engagement? The worst comes to worst, I was planning on depending on my Uncle if they had any thoughts on rushing the wedding!”   And now my stupid friend looked convinced. She can be an unnecessary worrywart at times!   Finally the day of the meeting came. I took out a pair of formal pants matched it with a formal pink laced top. I tied my hair in a neat pony tail. The meeting was at 10 in the morning. I still had plenty of time. Daisy came to pick me up at 9. The place where we are supposed to meet is quite far from here. It’s practically out of city.   I had this unknown feeling bugging me for some time now. I still could not come in terms with the fact that Mr. Zack agreed so easily. I couldn’t help but suspect that there could be more to it. Just in case I have asked Daisy to prepare one additional contract with different terms.   Throughout the way, I remained quite while Daisy was quite excited like a kid who was on his field trip. We entered into private grounds which were surrounded by nothing but dark woods. It could make one question whether it was possible for someone to live so deep in here. But to our surprise, it was packed with people. But somehow no one was allowed to enter inside the villa.   In other words, we all were forced to wait out in the sun… Nearly all the famous and professional cosmetic company’s representatives were present. I knew he was popular but didn’t expect him to be this popular.   Daisy was totally shocked by the sight in front of her. But she somehow managed to pull herself together and turned on her investigation radar.   Within few minutes she came back to me with the details.   “Scarlet! This is crazy!! We are totally doomed!!!”   I couldn’t understand her words. I spotted the crowds dispersing. Everyone was now going their own ways. Just what was with all these commotions?   I looked at Daisy as I raised my brow in confusion.   “This guy is a total weirdo! He was the one who assembled all these people here and now he made an announcement that he will be entering into an exclusive contract with only one company that offers him the highest of all present here. His demand was so absurd that people started to leave.”   I knew it. No wonder I felt everything was going so easy. With more competition, the contract which he demanded will be solely favorable for only one party while the other party will have to incur a huge loss from hiring him. I wondered if he was tight on cash to go to such an extent.   I decided to wait and observe the situation. Many people left while some decided to stay. There was absolutely no news from Zack after stating his demands loud and clear. Daisy tried to persuade me to go back many times. But I didn’t listen.   The situation somehow turned into a battle of endurance. It was already six in the evening and naturally we were quite hungry. We couldn’t grab anything to eat as we had to travel a long way back to find a place to dine.   Finally the door opened from inside. A young man in his mid twenties dressed in his casual jeans with a brown t-s**t came.   “Mr. Zack has invited you 3 people inside for a chat.”   He asked for only three people inside. But in reality there were five, including three CEO’s and two representatives. This gesture of his was really rude. It basically tells that he won’t meet anyone less than a CEO.   I stopped Daisy from saying anything. Since I am in a hurry to get the work done, I decided to give in a little and followed that man in along with the other two. He guided us inside. I realized that the villa was grand both inside out.     He left us in an empty hall saying Mr. Zack will come to greet us. We waited for a few minutes but no one came. The CEO of “Crystals” was offended by his lack of hospitality and rude behaviour throughout the day that he finally started to lose his temper. For a person who is known for being temperamental, he held it in very well that I started to see him in a new light.    “What the hell is that man doing? Calling me all the way here just to insult me like this? Does he know how much I make per minute? How dare he put on airs in front of me? He just wasted my whole day and now he dares not to even show his face! If I want, I can have him disappear from this industry in a single night!” And with that he left.   He is indeed someone who is capable of doing something like that. Even though I could feel his frustration, I dared to open my mouth while I continued to keep myself calm. Now, only I and the CEO of “Choice” were left.   Mr. Anil is a nice man. I have had many collaboration’s with him so far. In my opinion he is much easier to work with. We exchanged pleasantries as we continued to wait.   Finally after the long wait I spotted someone climbing down the stairs and to my surprise it was Krish! The handsome waiter that I met 2 days ago!!!!   I literally stared at him as he slowly descended from the stairs. I immediately tried to regain my composure as my competitor was also present. I acted like I never saw him before, like it was our first meeting! After seeing that it was him I understood the reason for him being hasty about money.   I realized that his actual motive was not raising his price through competition but could be to demand more money from the person who is persistent enough to want him.   “Sorry for the long wait. As an apology I will treat you to dinner. I am sure you both must be very hungry now.”   Hungry?? We are STARVING!! I wanted to yell at his face but kept the professional smile on my face as I politely refused his offer.
