Chapter 9 As I watched my smashed Audi being hauled onto the tow truck, the paramedic on the scene strongly suggested I take an ambulance to the hospital to get checked out. Even though I felt okay physically, I was so mentally and emotionally f****d that I couldn’t even answer verbally, so I nodded and was led to the ambulance. I looked at the tree I’d hit as I waited for the paramedics to wrap things up. Luckily it wasn’t a large tree and, even though I’d hit it hard enough to take it down and deploy my car’s airbag, the impact hadn’t been enough to cause me serious damage. I’d also been wearing my seat belt and knew if I hadn’t I probably wouldn’t have been able to walk away from the crash. I barely remembered the ride to the hospital, but I spent hours there waiting and being checked
