When my mother told me Friday morning that she’d be spending the weekend at Dennis’s, I nearly jumped for joy. With her gone, I was free to spend the night with Alex without being under her watchful eye. I didn’t tell her Alex and I were going out this time. The less she knew about my plans with him, the better. I didn’t even go home after work Friday. I’d driven in that day and put an overnight bag in the trunk of my car.
