Chapter 3 – A Visit from the Police

Aiden’s POV

This day started off with a call from my brother telling me I need to rethink this plan with Madison because she really looks sick and needs medical attention. I do not have time for this s**t today, I need to reach out to the Anderson’s. I push the button on the intercom to call Sarah. Of course she comes right in without delay. “That nurse that helped us out last night get her to go to the house and make sure Madison is fine because Dylan said she looks sick.” I say. I get straight to the point but I see she is rolling her eyes. She’s really starting to irritate me. If it weren’t for the fact that she was pregnant with my child and me needing her to finish helping me get this contract I would have kept my wife.

My father is going to flip when he gets back in town. I need to have my life figured out before he returns. He is not a fan of Sarah but he loves my wife. Thinking about my dad and what he might say I tell Sarah what she needs to do. “Call her so we can go to the house and make sure she is okay.” I say. “Ok I will call her right away babe.” She says. It does not take long before we are meeting the nurse at the house. We are not in the house more than a minute before there is a knock on the door. I let them go up stairs and I answer the door and to my surprise it is the police.

I was stunned for a minute and could not speak. “Sir we are here to perform a wellness check on your wife. We received a report that your wife was taken from the hospital. The doctor has informed us that your wife needs medical attention due to the nature of her injuries yesterday.” The officer said. I stand there like a statue until the officer snaps his fingers in front of my face. That brings me back to reality. “Officer when I left the hospital yesterday my wife was there.” I say. “So have you thought to check in on your wife today after she suffered such a tragedy?” The officer said. Now he is just pissing me off because my personal life with my wife is none of his damn business. “Listen Officer to be honest my wife more than likely left on her own free will. We decided to get a divorce yesterday which I filed the paperwork with the court’s today. My wife is unstable at the current moment officers.” I say. The officers shared a glance as if they were suspicious about the things I was saying but they had no choice but to except it. I have a lot of money and power in New York and they do not want to push their luck and I call the chief to handle this and they lose their jobs. So they made the best decision ever and reach out their hand. “Well, here is my card please notify us if you hear from your wife?” The officer said.

By the time I see them to the door, Sarah and the nurse come down. I look at them waiting for them to give me an update but instead Sarah wants to know who came to the door as if this situation is not troubling enough. “Damn! Sarah can you just answer the question please! This s**t is already to much to handle. I really don’t have time to walk you through every little detail. But if you must know that was the police at the door. Madison was reported missing by the doctor that treated her last night.” I say. Now the both of them are standing their like deer in headlights. I am starting to wander how Sarah was able to secure the business contracts she has for me, when she is so damn dense sometimes. “Listen I really do not want to be involved any further because I have a life and I really don’t want to lose my nursing license. That girl upstairs really needs antibiotics, or she could die from infection, and I want no part in that.” The nurse says.

“Listen Ariana you are not going to get in trouble I promise you. Aiden had every right to take her away from the hospital. Can you just do us one more favor and get us the equipment and medicine she needs. We will pay you and you know you are working to pay back student loans. I promise we will protect you. Between my dad and Aiden no one will bother us because they don’t want to lose their jobs.” Sarah says. The nurse still looks a little skeptical but she agrees because money is power. Sarah and Ariana leave together to get the supplies. I decided to go to my home office and get some work done while I wait for them to get back.

An hour later they come rushing back in by that time my family is also here. “What the hell took the two of you so long?” I yell. “The hospital was in a uproar about this b***h being missing. The police were everywhere and questioning all the staff. We overheard one of the nurses saying that the missing girl had some powerful people behind her and heads were going to roll because she has gone missing. We barely got away from there, but we managed to get the stuff. They are also looking for Ariana because the nurse said the police do not believe she didn’t see anything last night.” Sarah says. I look up at Sarah friend the nurse and she looks scared as hell. We are gonna have to silence this b***h or she could tell on all of us. I can see it in her eyes. Who else besides us could be looking for Madison. She don’t have any family so whats going on, when we met at university, I just assumed she was there on scholarship.

My mom turns on the television and sure enough everything they said was true. Madison face was plastered all over the place saying she is missing and her life could be in danger. What is going on I scream. “Listen son she was married to you still yesterday so you had every right to remove her and get her treatment at home they cannot blame you for that.” My mom says. “Mom you do not understand the police just left here and I told them I had not seen her and I refuse to let that nobody b***h ruin my life. We need to stick to our story and do not change. Ariana we can give you a lot of cash and you hide for a few days until this blow over. Call in and don’t go to work because they will more than likely take you in for questioning.” I say. How did this all go to s**t this fast. My phone starts to ring and I look down and see that it is my dad calling. I ignore him because I do not have time for his bullshit right now. He just needs to enjoy his time with his mistress.
