‘Cane!! No!!!' Maya screamed in her dream before opening her eyes in the real world. She slowly looked around and realized she had been dreaming, she was still back in Alpha Diamond's room. She looked to the other side of the bed and he was gone. She sighed with relief that he hadn't heard her saying Cane's name. He wouldn't have taken that lightly even with Cane no longer a threat, she thought.
She pulled herself up, sitting with her back against the bedrest. She thought with Cane dead the nightmares would stop, but it seems she's cursed to see him dying over and over again in her dreams. It was a torture she wished to escape from. It doesn't help her plan of not thinking about him.
