Chapter 75

1122 Words
As First Take took a commercial break Massy was brought into the studio, Stephen A. Smith, Skip Bayless and Molly Qerim all sitting at a round table. Both Molly and Stephen stood to greet her due to them being the closest to her, Skip them stood up as Massy was hesitant to greet him, but he pulled her into a hug. "I wasn't sure if I should greet you or not." Massy said with a smile. Skip kept his arm around her shoulder as he stood next to her. "Awww come on, I'm tougher on you because I know you're good!" Skip said, Massy laughed and shook her head. Skip sounded more and more like her father Bo. Massy fixed her dress as she sat down, the theme music began and the cameras zoomed in, Molly sat up straight as she began to read off of the teleprompter. "Who is to blame for OKC's terrible season? And blowing these leads? Is it Westbrook, Durant, or new head coach Bill Donavan. You can tweet your answers to @FirstTake and is LeBron already tired of playing for the Cavilers and is he ready to go back to South Beach!? All that up later on in the show, but right now we're joined by two time MVP rookie Forward for Team USA Women's Soccer Massy 'Ace' Arias. How are you?" "I'm great, I'm excited to be here, it's my first time up here, and before we get started, let me say. It is NOT Westbrook's fault." Massy said defending Russell. "A fellow Bruin always has to defend a fellow Bruin!" Skip said throwing his hands up and shaking his head already not agreeing with Massy. "Well who's fault do you think it is?" Molly asked as she focused her attention from Skip to Massy. "I don't think there's enough chemistry between Bill and the whole team, In general. it's always hard getting a new coach in whatever sport, because you really have to get the team to believe that you know what you're doing and you can do your part in coaching them, and there's really not a lot of trust between the coach and the team, and you can see it when you watch the games, you can see that disconnection, you can really see that lack of trust." Massy spoke with her hands as she put emphasis on certain words, Skip and Stephen both shook their head in agreement. "The World Cup! Two weeks away! How are you feeling, what the mood you're in right now?" Molly asked changing the subject for the sake of time. Massy frowned actually trying to figure out how she was feeling. "Uummm, I'm just ready to play, I'm not nervous or anything, I'm more so just excited to get out there, like my hands are shaking, my eye is twitching, I'm fidgeting. I'm just ready to go." "How much of a mind blow was Canada to the team?" Massy turned her attention to Stephen looking at him as he asked the question. "Canada came completely out of left field, because literally the whole season it was England, Brazil, Mexico, Japan! These are the teams you have to beat! These are the teams that are going to crush you on the field yet we beat them all, nobody said anything about Canada. Uumm, I don't even think they were on the radar for top five teams. So that was totally out the blue." "You have to play Sweden again, because they did advance into the World Cup. Is there any animosity playing against them?" Massy turned her attention back to Molly. "Not at all, we beat them, and that was really what it was about, it's sad that, that's my first impression of Sweden, umm the way they treated me, but I don't hold a grudge. Like I said we beat them and we'll beat them again." Massy spoke with confidence in the Sweden topic, her true mission was to beat them again, this time leaving them injured. "How is the injury? Are we still looking at it as a injury?" Skip asked as he leaned forward. "Right now I'm one hundred percent, I'm good, no pain, no soreness, but the right side of my groin did get injured and it will always be looked at and tended to, just in case." Molly smiled at Massy. "Team USA entering the World Cup as the number one team in the World and will leave the World Cup still as number one team in the World?" Massy smiled back at Molly nodding her head in confidence. "No doubt about it. Of course." "Well, thank you Massy so much for joining us here, even though as hard as Skip is on you, we do love you here." Molly said laughing and pointing in Skips direction. Skip frowned looking between all three of them. "I'm always the bad guy, it's always me!" "I don't take it personal, Skip is Skip I've watched him for years, I grew up on him, already knowing that he hates everything and everybody. So I just kind of dubbed him as the neighborhood Grumpy Old Man, he just sits on the porch all day and fusses at everything that goes on in the neighborhood, you look in his yard and its full of balls that he refuses to give back to the kids... Because he doesn't want anybody walking on his grass" Skip sat there rolling his eyes and shaking his head, Stephen and Molly leaning back laughing at the perfect comparison of Skip. "You just got to let him fuss and complain, he'll eventually get tired and fall asleep on the porch." Massy finished with a smile. "Up next we discuss the nasty break up between the New York Giants owners and former head coach Tom Coughlin, and what the new head coach Ben McAdoo has to offer for the 2016-2017 season." Molly said introducing the next topic before the cameras cut to commercial. "Speaking of football. Massy, you tweeted the other day that you were ready and feigning for football season to start." Massy began laughing as Molly let out a chuckle as well. "I am, I need it to hurry up and start, my body is ready!" "Now, you being a New York native, are you a Jets or Giants fan. You know the rule, you can't be both." Stephen asked with a serious face, he fixed his suit as he braced himself for her answer. Massy shook her head laughing. "Yea I know, I know, um I'm definitely a Giants fan. If I was to root for any other team... It would probably be a big issue in my household. So... Definitely Giants.
