Odell continued his morning workout posting to his i********:, letting his fans know it was about that time, the partying had stopped, the drinking was no more. It was now all about getting his body back into that football season status. The comments rolled in as women drooled, leaving every type of emoji that best represented their reaction to his perfectly sculpted abs and a V-Cut that was deep enough to drink out of.
As soon as the commercial break was over, he remained standing, watching Massy on First Take as she continued to talk about not only the World Cup but she joined in on the conversations about LeBron, OKC, and the Giants former coach Coughlin. Sticking around longer then she normally was scheduled. Odell turned the tv up at the mentioning of his former coach and current team, he slid his phone in his pocket to reframe from being distracted.
"Former New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin's bizarre and bitter behavior is what ultimately caused the Philadelphia Eagles to scratch him off their list as they continue looking for a head coach. Coughlin's interviewed for the position, only to turn the whole interview into a bashing of the Giants organization. Stephen your thoughts."
"Giants went what? 6-10 last season. The Giants are not a bad team, they've got to focus, Manning and Beckham alone is a hell of a match alone, but you add Cruz who is well on his way to coming back and you got real potential, sometimes it's not the players, sometimes it is the coach." Stephen finished looking at Molly.
Molly motioned her hand for Skip to give his opinion. "Bitter, he was bitter. He sounded like a heartbroken boyfriend who's girlfriend just dumped him, so his revenge was to go work for his former teams biggest rival. The Giants aren't a great team. I don't think Odell and Manning are enough for them to have any better of a 6-10 season, not saying that Odell is not an amazing player, but he is not experienced enough in the way Manning and Cruz is to lead the team into a better season." Skip did his usual hating of everything and everybody. Stephen began laughing, while Massy frowned while she listened to Skip criticize her boyfriends football skills.
"I know Coughlin's personally and I know how attached he was to not only the players but to the Giants organization as a whole, and he was basically forced out, and I'm sure with anyone that would leave a bad taste in your mouth, he didn't want to leave and a lot of the players made it very clear they didn't want him gone. So I too would feel some type of way if I was pushed out like that. And as far as Odell not being experienced enough, I call bullshit." Massy said in coach Coughlin's defense. Stephen sat up straight with a smile knowing that Massy was about to back her statement up with something, Skips eyes widened a bit and his lips pressed together with a slight grin, he leaned back in his chair folding his arms across his chest anticipating Massy rebuttal.
She then sat up completely straight as she began to defend Odell against Skips comments. Odell squinted his eyes listening closely as Massy began to speak, he turned the tv up even louder and literally stood under it watching her. "If you want to be completely honest, let's push Odell's popularity out of the picture and let's focus on stats ONLY. As of this point, 189 Receptions, 2,755 Receiving yards, and 26 Receiving Touchdowns. As a wide receiver in his second season. So let's break this down. Now before I do so, let me also mention he missed a majority of the training camp, preseason, and the first four games of his rookie season because of a hamstring injury. Now his first ever NFL game 4 receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown, next game caught 8 passes for 156 yards, next game against the Cowboys 10 catches for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns, including a one-handed touchdown reception hailed as the "catch of the year" of course, not only did he make the catch but caught it with a pass interference penalty called on Dallas's Brandon Carr while diving backwards with full extension of his right hand using only three fingers... This isn't the first time he's made this catch, believe it or not, he did it in college too... Multiple times. He closed out November with 38 receptions, 593 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. He had at least 90 yards receiving in all five games in November, setting an NFL rookie record. He also broke Bill Groman's and Randy Moss' rookie record for consecutive games with 90 or more receiving yards in a season. Against the Eagles he had a career high 185 receiving yards, which was the most in a game by a rookie in franchise history. STILL, to this day he holds this record! He finished his rookie season with 91 receptions, 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games. He was the 3rd rookie in NFL history to have 1,300+ receiving yards in a season, and the only rookie to have at least 90+ receptions and 10+ receiving touchdowns in a season. Now if he did this AND SOME all in his rookie season and his numbers increased by 30 percent his sophomore season, you can't tell me he doesn't have the potential to play on that field with Manning and Cruz."
Massy sat back in her chair, Skip remained quiet and shrugged his shoulders. "I guess I've been proven wrong." He said waving her off, refusing to fall back on what he said, refusing to be wrong.
Massy left the show with 10minutes left to spare as the three sports commentators continued to close out the show, with reading fans tweets. All this talk about Odell and football only riled Massy up even more for football season, she was ready for him to get back on the field and prove whoever else doubted him, wrong.
Massy didn't necessarily mean to go off on Skip the way she did, but when it came to him attacking Odell and his passion for football she didn't take kindly to it. She knew how hard Odell worked and Skip trying to down play his skill only made her angry. Yes Odell was extremely popular, but he worked even harder and sometimes his popularity overshadowed just how much he accomplished on the field. This wasn't the first time Massy took to defending Odell, standing by his side and it wouldn't be the last.
