Chapter 77

1167 Words
Odell stood wide eyed, Massy having his back was one thing. He expected her too, but the fact that she pulled out stats of his career put the whipped cream and cherry on top. Massy took to national tv to defend him, gracefully chewing a hole in the center of Skip Bayless's forehead. No one was going to tell Massy that Odell wasn't the greatest Wide Receiver to be currently playing in the NFL, not even the neighborhood grump, Skip. He had no clue she followed his accomplishments the way she did, not to the point where she could rattle them off by memory as if she was singing Beyoncé lyrics. He had no clue she even knew his stats, let alone records he held. Odell had officially underestimated Massy, he didn't realize just how high of a pedestal she had him on until that very moment. Massy's defending Odell went viral in a matter of hours. Twitter and i********: lit up with that specific portion of the episode, memes of her going off on Skip seemed to be twitters favorite, but her time in New York would be short lived, as soon as she left the First Take studios she was right back on a flight to California, for the teams finally practice and meeting, the remaining of the week and next week would be nothing but press and open interviews, Nike also would be revealing this years Team USA's away uniforms. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Massy walked back into her San Diego condo dropping her bags to the floor, all the lights turned off, the curtains drawn closed. The sun had set over California hours ago. Odell's workout bag sat on the living room floor between the coffee table and the couch, his clothes hanging halfway out of it, a sock laying next to it. Massy shook her head and began to put his clothes back in the bag. She picked it up and carried it down the steps and set it on top of the dryer, she lifted the lid of the washer and began pulling clothes from the bag, occasionally smelling them to make sure they were indeed dirty, a mixture of his sweat and cologne covered all the clothing. She pulled the last shirt out the bag, a black V-neck that had been rolled up, it fell open and something rolled out of it into the washing machine causing a small thud against the metal walls. Massy frowned and stood on her tipi-toes looking in the heavy machine, she reached down and pulled out a small black box covered in a smooth velvet material. She held it between her thumb, middle, and ring finger frowning and looking at it. It was obvious that it was a box for jewelry, but could of possibly held anything. A ring, and pair of earrings, a pendant or charm. Massy opened the box but nothing sat inside, just a folded up business card that had the jeweler's information on it. She chewed the inside of her cheek and continued to look in the bag making sure she got everything, not wanting to get beside herself or think too much into it, based off the fact that it was midnight and she had just got of a flight, she was beyond exhausted, she put the small black box back into his bag and walked back up the steps to the bedroom. She smiled at the sight of her "Sleeping Giant" laying sprawled out in the middle of the bed, the covers halfway on him, for some reason Odell thought he could control his body temperature while he slept, leaving one leg under the covers and the other uncovered, his boxers sat right under his waist line, the light from the tv caused shadows to form on his chest and abs, his face was extremely soft aside from the full on beard he had that covered his whole jaw and chin. He slept almost childlike. There was no wonder Massy couldn't resist him, as soon as you looked at him you forgot why you were even mad at him. She tiptoed to the bathroom and turned on the shower, she refused to get into her clean bed after being on a airplane all day. She stripped down and pulled her hair up. Odell shifted in his sleep, waking up to the sound of the running water. He squinted his eyes at the tv then looked at the cracked door of the bathroom a sliver of light showing through the the dark room. He sat up throwing his legs over the side of the bed and made his way to the bathroom. Massy felt his presence and looked at him through the mirror. "Hey my handsome... Sorry, did I wake you up?" "I f*****g love you, so much." Odell said with a clenched jaw and speaking through his teeth. He completely ignored Massy's question and grabbed her face in his large hands kissing her. The actions she took in defending him seemed to turn him on more than anything. She wasn't rude or a b***h to Skip while defending Odell, she wasn't loud, cussing and pointing her fingers, she simply stated facts and listed off his stats, she was polite and defended Odell the same way she'd defend herself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Massy stood in the middle of the field, not fully suited to practice, she wore regular running shoes instead of her shin guards and cleats and her hair left down. Nike's two day event would consist of screening Team USA's World Cup Nike commercial, which was ultimately named "America Has A Score To Settle." The next day they'd reveal the "away" uniforms that the team would be wearing. As press and the rest of media, writers for ESPN Sports Center, Fox Sports News, Pardon The Interruption, and every other sports and news related outlet was lead into the field and into a large conference room. Nike's Director Steve Rogers and Creative Directors Chris Groom and Stuart Brown stood center stage. "Each member of the U.S. Women's National Team is blessed with superior skills and abilities that let them stand head and shoulders above the rest. But together, they are legends who inspire a nation." Steve Rogers spoke into the mic as she paced the stage speaking about the USNWT. He then passed the mic to creative director Chris Groom. "These women "have a score to settle," and that score would be... The final with Japan in the 2011 World Cup, The 6th match in the 2013 Algarve Cup against England, and now recently The 2016 Algarve Cup against Canada. The score that these 23 women have to settle is to ultimate beat these three teams and the rest of the opposing teams to take the World Cup." The lights dimmed and music began playing as the two minute uncut commercial played, then was followed by the one minute and thirty-second version that would be aired a week before the World Cup begins.
