Chapter Three

Following Jessica into the cafeteria, Zoie glanced around as everybody snickered and had their lunch. Zoie disregarded all looks that were tossed towards her as she focused on tracking down the 2 recognizable faces. Slowly, Jessica turned around and urged Zoie to come closer.  "I'm searching for my sisters." Zoie casually expressed. Jessica smiled. “They’re sitting over there!”  Looking towards the corner that Jessica pointed at, Zoie laid eyes on Kira and Simone who sat at the table in a deep conversation. Walking forward, Zoie pushed through everyone as she made her way closer. Looking up, Kira sighed in relief as she laid eyes on Zoie and Jessica.  “Thank Goodness! I thought you had gotten yourself into some shit.” Kira mumbled.  “Glad that you think so highly of me.” Zoie replied.  Kira watched as Jessica sat down at the table with them before shooting a look at Zoie who simply shrugged. As Kira prepared to say something, Simone groaned and rolled her eyes before laying her head down.  “Bad day so far?” Jessica asked with a soft smile.  “It would’ve been better if it wasn’t for that perverted piece of s**t over there.” Simone revealed. Jessica, Kira, and Zoie looked to see a guy standing at a table waving his hand at Simone before winking.  Jessica shook her head. “That’s Harry. He’s slept with every girl in the school.”  “He’s annoying.”  “You’re just a new target.” Jessica revealed. “Everyone at that table is annoying except for the tall one in the varsity jacket. He’s just mean.”  “I know that one.” Kira whispered. “We had a class together.”  “Sebastian?” Jessica asked as Kira nodded. “To me, he’s the quiet one and that’s just because he sleeps in most classes.”  “They seem pretty popular.” Simone mumbled. “They are.” Jessica responded. “There’s Harry who is the ladies man and he gets what he wants 9 times out of 10. There’s Sebastian who just sleeps through most classes but when he’s awake, he just looks bored and fed up with everything. There’s Jacob who is actually very smart and kind of nerdy but he has his mean moments and he can be a flirt just like Harry minus the constant s*x. The guy with the undercut and grey sweatshirt? That’s Timothy but he goes by Timmy. He’s a bit more laid back than the rest but he’s not afraid to get in your face and ask for food especially since he eats in most of the classes we are in.”  “I haven’t had any classes with them so it sounds like I’m lucky.” Zoie teased.  Jessica nodded. “The girl is Olivia and she’s the only girl in their little crew. I’m going to be honest and say it, she’s a b***h. She’s extremely self centered and feels the need to constantly uplift herself while putting others down. As cliche as it sounds, she is on the cheerleading team which explains the sweatshirt with the C on the front.”  Zoie, Simone, and Kira stared at the girl as she rolled her eyes and sat next to the black haired guy in the variety jacket. She seemed to be extremely annoyed over something as she checked to see if her ribbon was still around her high ponytail.  “Lastly, there’s Nate.” Jessica mumbled. “Throws great parties but is rude towards almost everyone. He gets along with no one except the ones that he’s sitting at the table with. Even the football team hates him but they’ll do anything to get on his good side.”   “I’m not even shocked.” Kira muttered.  Jessica chuckled. “Ironic, isn’t it? The cornerback on the football team and he doesn’t even get along with most of his teammates.”  “Everyone says he’s a selfish asshole. The only reason why the team wins is because he’s on it. Trust me, if he had to choose between saving himself and saving a child, he’d choose himself.” A random girl finished as she slid in the seat next to Jessica. “Edith, I’d like you to meet the newest additions to Chester High – Kira, Simone, and Zoie.” Jessica introduced.  “I’m sorry to cut off your conversation but is it safe for me to borrow my lovely friend here?” The brunette asked with a soft smile.  “By all means.” Zoie replied. Excitedly, Edith grabbed Jessica’s hand before leaving the table and running somewhere.  “I cannot read his mind.” Kira whispered.  “Who?” Simone asked as she leaned closer.  “The guy with the white hair! I tried during the entire class but I just couldn’t. I thought it was just me at first but then I realized that I could read every mind in the class except for him.” Kira said. “I just don’t understand!” As Simone and Kira kept on gossipping, Zoie gazed strongly at the male on the opposite side of the cafeteria. Gazing back at her, Nate overlooked the discussions between his kin. Gripping the edge of the table, Zoie squeezed as she continued to stare.  “Zoie?” Simone whispered harshly. She looked down to see Zoie’s grip on the table. “Do not do anything stupid.”  Rolling her eyes, Kira placed her hand on Zoie’s arm before pinching it. On cue, Zoie’s grip on the table caused it to c***k which snapped her out of her thoughts. Looking around, Simone checked to see if anyone had noticed Zoie’s behavior or heard the c***k. Everyone continued to converse leaving her to sigh in relief.  “Don’t start any psychotic bullshit, Zoie. It’s just the first day of school and the both of you talked me into this.” Simone warned.  “What’s wrong?” Kira whispered. "There is something in particular about them at that table that I don't trust." Zoie murmured.  "That is the thing that I was getting at!" Kira enthusiastically reported making Simone and Zoie take a gander at her with interest.  "What?" Simone inquired.  “I don’t think we are the only ones here with powers.” Kira whispered. “We are not alone!”
