Loosing track of time.

Adonis POV.

I had been in the rec room with James and his parents for about an hour.

“Want go to the games room?” James asked me.

“That sounds good to me.” I replied. We both headed off out the rec room and down the hall to the kitchen. As we passed, I could smell the bakery was cooking muffins again. I decided to try my luck again. As we got to the bakery I asked James,

“Hang on. Are you hungry?”

“I am always hungry, but why?” He asked me. I grinned at him. I opened the bakery door and saw my mum and auntie Chloe were chatting away. I looked around the room and saw that’s when I saw the muffins. There were loads of them. James was watching me intently. I stepped quietly over to the trays of muffins.

“Adonis Holden. Don’t even think about it!” Came my mother’s voice. I heard the door shut. James must have got scared. I sniggered to myself.

“Ahhh, how did you know mum?” I asked sweetly.

She turned and faced me.

“I am a wolf, young man. I am also your mother. I always know.” She said looking at me. I saw the eyes change silver briefly.

“Star, that’s cheating.” Mum developed a huge smile on her face. “Please can I have a muffin for me and my friend James?” I pleaded. Mum looked behind me towards the door and then back at me.

“Where’s is your friend then?” She questioned.

“You may have scared him mum.” I told her. Her face was pure horror.

“Oh, my, God. I haven’t, have I?” She asked me.

“James, come in. Mum is fine.” I shouted to the door. It began to slowly open up and James stepped through looking down at his feet.

“Afternoon Luna. Sorry Luna.” He said nervously.

“I am so sorry, young man. I didn’t mean to scare you.” She said to him looking at him. “Adonis, you need to apologise too young man!” She scolded me.

“What why do I need…” I began to argue with her.

“Adonis, it’s your fault I scared young James.” She lectured me.

“Fine, sorry James.” I spoke. “Can we have a muffin please.” I asked her afterwards.

“Dinner is in a couple of hours. Can’t you wait?” She asked me.

“Please mummy.” I pleaded.

“Fine. You boys can have one each. Then scram.” Mum said begrudgingly.

“Yay. Thanks mum.” I said happily. I grabbed two muffins off the tray and scampered back to James and out the door.

“I can’t believe you did that!” James said gobsmacked.

“What, I always get one. I try to sneak but mum gets me every time.” I told him while handing him a muffin.

“Dude your mum has got star. She’s always going to know you are there.” He told me.

“Sometimes I get close. I will do it one day.” I said happily.

“You never will. Come on let’s go.” James said happily.

We both headed towards the games room. It was in the old gym. Mum and dad had it converted when I was born. It was a place all pups went from being babies to our ages and older. There was a huge game room. Well, the grownups called it the after-school room.

There was everything we could want in there. There was a gymnasium, tv area, reading area and games tables inside. Us kids were not allowed to use the grownups games tables in the Rex room. That supposed to be for the adults only. Although I had used them occasionally with Frank, Jason and my dad. But none of the other kids were allowed.

“What do you want to do then?” James asked me.

“I dunno. I don’t normally come here.” I replied.

Just then a woman came in.

She was one of the omegas. I had seen her in the dining room before.

“Ah, hello James, hello young Alpha. How are you both?” She asked us.

“Hi miss Kim. I am ok, thank you.” James replied politely.

“Hello. I am good thanks.” I answered.

“Good. And to what do I owe the pleasure of you here?” She asked. I looked at her confused.

“We don’t normally see you in here young alpha, your father was in here earlier, but he’s gone now.” She added. Now I understood more.

“Oh, sorry miss, I’m not looking for dad. Me and James are after something to do till dinner time.” I answered her.

“Oh right. Well James had a hi score on the games tables he likes to brag about. You could see if you can beat him?” She said with a grin.

“Ha. No one will beat me.” James scoffed.

“Oh, I will.” I said cockily. With that James ran towards the game's tables, and I followed him rapidly.

“Have fun boys.” The omega shouted after us. We never replied though.

We both ran at full speed towards the tables and James stopped at a air hockey game table. He grabbed a pusher and a puck, then pushed the other pusher over to me.

“I always win!” He told me with a smirk.

“Really. We will see about that shall we?” I replied back. James started the game and hit the puck towards me, I blocked it but only just. I slammed it back towards him, but he stopped it and sent it flying back towards me and straight in the goal. I stood dumbfounded for a moment.

“Hahahaha, I win.” He laughed.

“I was just warming up. First to 10?” I asked him with a smile.

“What’s the prize?” James asked.

“How about the looser serves the winners meal tonight?” I said smiling.

“You're on.” James said with a grin. We both concentrated hard and began playing the game. We played for about 40 minutes, or that’s what it seemed like.

The score was 9-9 and this last game would determine a winner, when I got a link from mum.

“Adonis, where are you?” She asked, causing me to lose focus.

At the same time James got a link from his dad. He shot but missed.

I’m in the games room mum.” I replied.

“Well get your butt into the dining room for dinner, young man.” She scolded me. I looked up at the wall looking for a clock.

“Oh god, it’s almost 7 o’clock. My dad's angry with me.” James said, putting his pusher down and starting to speed walk out the games room.

“Oh god. Have we been playing that long?” I questioned as I caught up to him. We both began to jog out and headed straight for the dining room as fast as we could. We ran at full speed in the corridor and i almost collided with the omega girl that transferred here.

She was just walking out of the dining hall towards the kitchen. As I dodged her and bolted past her, I noticed a pot on her arm.

I wondered what had happened to her. Me and James both slowed to a brisk walk as we entered the dining hall, we were both out of breath. James was about to head to his parents' table.

“Your allowed to eat with me remember.” I reminded him.

“Dad told me I couldn’t today as I was late to dinner. He says I should learn to watch time better. I will see you tomorrow morning.” He said sadly.

I felt really bad but walked up to my parents' table.

“Is James not eating with us, son?” Dad asked me.

“His dad has said not today, because we were late to dinner.” I told him, taking my seat beside mum.

“Well, you pair may learn to watch the time better.” Jason commented. I looked up at him then back down at the table.

“Yeah, I know sir.” I replied.

“Anyway. Go and get some food Adonis. You need to keep your strength up.” My mum said. I got to my feet and walked over to the food counter. I wasn’t very hungry, but mum would moan at me. I grabbed a plate and put some meat and veggies on then some gravy. I walked back to the table.

I spent the next 30 minutes picking at my food.

“Mum, can I leave please. I want to get a shower before bed. I need to be up early tomorrow.” I asked her.

“You haven’t eaten much Adonis. Are you feeling, ok?” She asked placing her hand on my forehead. I brushed it away.

“Yeah. I am just tired. We did a long workout today.” I lied.

“Well maybe a day off would do you good.” She suggested. I looked at her shocked, even my dad and Jason looked at her like she had grown another head. She looked around the table,

“What, he’s 7 years old. He shouldn’t be pushing himself so hard.” She said sternly.

“Mum I am fine. I just want to go to my room.” I told her.

“Ok, ok. I can take a hint. Go on then but clear your mess first ok.” She told me.

“Yes mum.” I replied. I took my plate and scraped the remaining food into the bin. I then placed the dirty items in the empty cart. Well, it had all the dirty pots in to take back to the kitchen. I walked out towards the dining hall exit and straight for the stairs.

As I neared them, I saw the new omega girl struggling with something.

“Do you need some help?” I asked her.
