She jumped out of her skin and began to fall on the stairs.
“Oh my god.” I said as I ran up the few steps between us. She began falling on her left side, but I tried to help her. I grabbed her right arm. Unfortunately, as she was bigger than me, she just pulled me down with her. We both landed in a heap together. She began apologising profusely.
“Oh my god. I am so so sorry. I don’t know what happened?” She was saying.
I burst into laughter. She looked at me gone out. I couldn’t help it.
“Are you ok?” I asked her after my burst of laughter.
“Erm, yeah. Thanks.” She replied still shocked. Just then Jason and my father came rushing up to the stairs.
“What happened are you both ok?” My dad asked me.
“I fell sir and Adonis tried to help but he fell too. I am so so sorry, sir.” She quickly said.
“I am fine dad. I wanted to help but she jumped and started to fall. I tried to help but fell too.” I said starting to laugh again.
“Well as long as you are both ok.” Dad said before him, and Jason walked back to the dining room.
“I am sorry I scared you…” I said not knowing her name.
“Oh, I’m Alexis sir.” She told me.
“Well, I am sorry I scared you, Alexis. Would you like some help?” I asked her.
“Erm, I can manage. I am used to it.” She told me starting to collect her belongings that she was carrying.
I grabbed the books she had before she could.
“I will take these for you.” I told her.
“It’s ok sir I can manage.” She tried to tell me stretching out her arm to grab the books from me. I wasn’t going to take no for an answer.
“Where’s your room then?” I asked her persistently.
“It’s on the 2nd floor sir.” She finally told me, retreating her hand back. She turned and began to walk up the stairs quietly.
I followed behind her remaining quiet, I could sense that she really didn’t want to talk. As we reached the 2nd floor, she turned to face me. I knew she didn’t want to show me her room. I handed her the books and watched her walk away. That’s when I realised, I could smell vanilla frosting again.
“Mum must have made some sweet treats.” I thought to myself. I proceeded to walk the rest of the way up to my room. I intended to take a shower and go to bed.
I was in the woods training with Jason. We had been doing some more tracking, but this time James was the bait. He had gone out 30 minutes before me and Jason had gone out searching. James was good but not as good as me. I had mastered how to hide my scent. James always missed some.
“Any signs, Adonis?” Jason linked me.
“Yeah. He missed some.” I scoffed.
“Well let’s get him found. You need to get stuff packed. Both of you do. Samual, are you packed?” He linked.
“Yes sir. All packed and ready. Adonis, he’s gone this way I think.” He linked me. I looked over at my friend.
“Are you sure. His scents here too!” I said to him looking over to where he was facing. There were definitely signs of James there.
“What do you want to do sir?” Samual asked me.
“Sam, you take that trail. Jason, you take that one. I will take this one. Keep communication open at all times. We all took our separate trails, Sam’s went towards the north, Jason’s went towards the east but circled around to the north again. Mine was technically northeast but it zigzagged more. After 5 minutes I checked on everyone.
“Sam any more signs of him?” I asked. There was no response. “Sam, I said to keep contact at all times.” I scolded him through the link. There was still no response.
“Jason, can you get hold of Sam?” I asked him. I waited for a reply for a moment. I was still creeping through the undergrowth. When Jason didn’t respond I stopped.
“Jason. You there man?” There was still no response.
“James?” I tried to link. I opened up a mass link. “Anyone there?” I asked. I began to panic. I heard a sound just up ahead. Curiosity started to get the better of me. I crept forward slowly. I saw a clearing just up ahead. There was a wide river flowing through a grassy area.
I checked that all around was clear. There was no one around me at all. In fact, I had no idea where I was. I spotted some movement on the opposite side of the river. I focused as much as I could. There was a wolf creeping from the undergrowth.
It was massive. It wasn’t really hard to see. It was white with black paws and a black muzzle.
I froze to the spot.
My alarm began blaring out,I woke up groggily and rolled over to switch it off. I looked at the time, 6am.
“Oh god. Why did I set it for that time?” I asked myself. I contemplated going back to sleep for a bit. I mean it was the weekend. I didn’t have school. I rolled over and pulled my covers over me. Just as I was about to go back to sleep there was a knock on my door. I sat upright and looked at my door. There was another tap on the door. I climbed out of bed and walked over to it, cautiously.
I pulled open the door a little to see who was there. James was stood there with a grin on his face.
“Really man. You are still in bed?” He said happily. I pulled my door open.
“Come in.” I said as I rubbed my eyes.
“Really?” He asked.
“Well yeah, I have just woken up.” I spoke. “I need a wee and to get dressed.” I added.
“Ok, yeah that’s cool.” He told me surprised. I turned away and headed for my bathroom. I grabbed som trousers and a T-shirt from off my chair as I passed it. I would get changed in the bathroom.
James closed my bedroom door and then stood looking around in amazement.
“Dude, your rooms huge!” He exclaimed.
“Really.”I said back through the bathroom door. I began getting dressed after I had used the toilet.
“These drawing are well cool. Where they from?” He asked me.
“My mum drew them. She drew a lot of them that are in her office too.” I told him.
“Dude, I have never been in the Luna’s office.” He informed me.
“Really?” I asked him shocked, as I exited the bathroom.
“No.” He confirmed.
“I will show you later if you want?” I asked him. He looked at me strangely. “What?” I asked him.
“I am good thanks.” He told me.
“Why are you here anyway?” I asked him. I was fully awake now.
“I thought we could train this morning?” He asked me.
“Really. It’s Sunday.” I exclaimed.
“And?” James said in return.
“Don’t you ever take a break?” I asked him.
“Warriors don’t take breaks.” He told me. “Rouges, don’t take breaks, so we don’t either.” He told me. “That’s what my dad says all the time.” He explained to me. I thought about it for a moment. He was right to be fair.
“Ok, so what are we doing.” I asked him.
“Well, the adults are all outside now. We can go to the gym if you want?” He said thinking.
“Yeah, that sounds ok.” I replied.
We both headed towards my bedroom door. James opened it and stepped out. I slipped my trainers on that was beside my door, before stepping out.
“Adonis? What are you doing young man.” I heard from down the corridor. I spun around and saw my mum walking towards us, she had max in her arms. He was asleep as per usual.
“Morning mum. Me and James are going to the gym for a bit before breakfast.” I told her.
“Morning Luna.” James said standing upright with his hand by his side.
“Good morning, James, morning Adonis. I would prefer if there was someone with you.” She said questionable. Just then her eyes clouded over briefly.
“Right, come on. Frank is going to be with you. I was going down to the bakery anyway so you can walk with me boys.” She told us.
“But mum, Jason said we are able to do it now unsupervised.” I moaned at her.
“Well, I am sure he didn’t mean at 6am in a morning!” She said sternly. She walked past me and James and headed towards the staircase. “Come on then.” She said sounding pleased with herself.
“Fine. Come on James.” I said gutted.
James and I began walking behind mum and walked down the stairs quietly. As we reached the 2nd floor there was quite a few omegas walking around. A lot of them were heading to the staircase. I saw Alexis as we turned the staircase, heading down.
“Hi Alexis.” I shouted happily. James and mum both stopped and looked towards her. She stopped dead and began to look panicked. Then she gave a small smile and a nod of her head.
“Come on boys. Let’s get a move on.” Mum said looking at me funnily. I nodded and we all began walking down the stairs.
I began to wonder why Alexis was always so scared. I would ask mum later.
