Broken body broken soul.

I walked through the office taking in the beauty of it. It also helped my nerves a little bit. I sat down in the chair opposite the Alpha. My palms were sweating profusely, and my heart was racing.

“Hello Alexis. How are you?” He asked me.

“I’m fine thank you Alpha.” I replied quietly.

“Have you settled in, ok?” He asked me.

“Yes sir. Thank you.” I answered.

“Right let’s get on with business then, shall we?” He said, looking at me directly. I lowered my gaze and looked down at my hands. “It’s been brought to my attention that some members of the pack are not happy about you staying. Now I know you don’t want to tell me name’s and that’s fine, but if you don’t then I can’t help.” He said firmly. I looked up towards him and then back down at my hands.

“It’s nothing Alpha.” I lied.

“Alexis, I can’t help if you don’t talk. I want you to be happy here.” He told me softly.

“I am sir. It’s loads better here, trust me.” I said quite happily. It was true. Even though Lisa picked on me, it was much better here.

“Ok then. Well as you are 10 years old all omegas get to choose where they want to work in future so we can trial it and make sure it suits. I know you have only been here a few weeks, but your tutors say you are hardworking and trying your best.” He told me.

“Really sir?” I asked a little shocked.

“Yes Alexis. Have you thought about what you want to do here in the pack?” He asked me. I had definitely not really thought about it but I did love being with the babies.

“I like being with the young pup's sir.” I told him, optimistically.

“I have noticed that, and they seem to like being with you too. How about working in the nursery?” He suggested.

“That would be great sir.” I replied excitedly.

“Right then. You can do work experience in the nursery, and we can see how you get on. You will need to take this sheet down there and collect a uniform.” He told me.

“Yes sir. I will do that now sir.” I told him happily. “Sir will I still need to do my chores in the kitchen.” I asked him.

“The days you are not in the nursery yes, but if you do go on to work full time in the nursery then no. For now, it will be two days a week in nursery and 3 evenings in the kitchen. Is that ok?” He asked me.

“Yes sir, that’s fine sir.” I spoke. The work in the kitchen wasn’t very hard and I would still see Libby.

“Right then. That’s all fine. You can go now Alexis. I hope you get on in the nursery.” He said to me. I took my cue and left the office quite happily. As I walked down the stairs, I saw Lisa and her minions on the 3rd floor landing. I tried to keep my head down and be unnoticed. I made it halfway down the 3rd floor stairs, before they spotted me.

“Oh look, it’s the mutt. Is the alpha kicking you out!” She said nastily. I tried to ignore her and proceeded down to the 2nd floor landing, hoping that they would leave me alone. Unfortunately, they had started to follow me.

“Oi, you filthy mutt. Do not ignore me. I am your superior. You must answer me.” She said quite loudly. I carried on; tears were beginning to form.

“You stupid cow. Don’t walk away from me!” She shouted. She had gotten pretty close by now, but I hadn’t realised. She pushed on my back and I fell, I was halfway down the stairs at the time and the sudden push caused me to fall down the other half of the steps. I landed in a heap at the bottom. Lisa burst out laughing and her minions began laughing with her.

I felt a sharp pain in my right wrist. I winced and pulled it close to my body, as it began to throb. Lisa and her crew had walked down to me by now.

She was just about to kick me as Libby’s mum came round the corner.

“Oh no Alexis, are you ok?” Lisa exclaimed. I looked at her shocked. Even her crew looked at her funny for a moment but once they saw Libby’s mum, they began to act all concerned.

“Miss leavers, Alexis has just fallen down the stairs!” Lisa exclaimed.

“Oh no, Alexis, are you ok sweetheart?” Libby’s mum asked me.

“Erm yes miss leavers.” I said still dumbfounded at Lisa.

“Right Lisa. Can you ensure she gets checked out at the hospital please?” Libby’s mum asked her.

“Definitely miss leavers. Come on Alexis. Let’s get you checked out.” She said in a sickly-sweet voice. It was easier to just comply, so I did. I got to my feet and Lisa was acting all kind and caring.

“Come on. Let’s get your hand checked out silly.” She said with a giggle.

She and her crew surrounded me and began walking me towards the back of the house, towards the medical section. As soon as we were out of sight, I got pushed again with Lisa being over dramatic.

“Oh my god. I touched her. Someone get me some sanitiser. I will catch something from it.” She exclaimed. They all laughed, and Lisa came closer to me.

“Don’t you dare tell anyone. No one will believe you anyway.” She said with a snigger. I stayed on the floor while they all walked away. They headed in the direction of the recreation room. It wasn’t until they were completely out of sight that I got to my feet and headed towards the medical wing alone.

I walked through the double doors to the pack medical room. The matron was just leaving her office, she turned and faced me, stopping mid step.

“Are you ok dear?” She asked concerned.

“I fell and hurt my wrist mam.” I lied to her.

She walked towards me and took hold of my hand gently. I winced in pain as she moved it.

“Right, we need to get this X-Rayed. Come with me dear.” She told me. She turned and began to walk down the corridor. I followed quietly with my head down.

The matron turned into a small room that had a large yellow sign on the door. I was nervous but I followed her.

“Take a seat on the bed dear. I will get that wrist x-rayed and see how bad it is, shall we.” She told me. She pulled a large machine towards me and placed a tray type of thing under my wrist.

She took a couple of steps back and pressed a button she had in her hand, there was a click. Then the matron pushed the machine away and took the tray looking thing away. She placed it into another machine, like posting a letter in a letterbox.

I remained sat on the bed and waited. After a few moments the matron turned and looked at me.

“Well unfortunately you have a broken wrist. You are going to need to stay in the hospital wing while we put you a cast on and it sets.” She told me.

“But I have to start my chores soon. Can’t you just strap it up and I can come back later. Please I don’t want to cause any problems.” I pleaded.

“No dear. You need to have your wrist set and held. Don’t worry I will contact the alpha and let him know. He will understand.” She told me. I wanted to argue with her, but I knew how stern she could be. She walked over to a phone and pressed a couple of numbers.

“Alpha, it’s the matron. I have Alexis here, she has fallen and unfortunately broken her wrist. This means she will need this afternoon off so we can get it in a cast.” I heard her say, there was a pause for a moment. “She told me she fell, it’s not bad but needs setting soon.” “Yes, she seems ok.she was worried about her chores.” “Yes, I will tell her sir. Thank you alpha.” She placed the phone back on the table.

“Right the alpha has said you are to take this afternoon off. You still have to go for your uniform after you leave here though.” She told me. I nodded my head. “Come on. Let’s go get you fixed up.” She added. I slid off the bed and followed the matron out the door. She headed left and down to the main wing of the hospital.

“Ariana, can you get Alexis here all set up in bay 6. She has a broken wrist and needs a cast putting on.” The matron said to a young woman.

“Of course, matron. Come on Alexis.” The nurse said to me.

“So, what happened Alexis.” She tried to ask me.

“I missed a step and fell down the stairs.” I lied again.

“Oh no. Them stairs can be deadly. I have slipped down a few myself. Although I only slipped down a few. You look like you may have fell a fair distance?” She said, well more like questioned me. I nodded my head, not wanting to talk about it.

“Right would you like a colour or plain white, Alexis?” She asked me.

“Can I just have a normal one, please.” I said quietly.

“Of course, you can love.” She was just trying to make me feel better I think but I wasn’t in a mood to talk. I just wanted to leave and go to my room.
