Chapter Thirteen: Gabriel's Reason

Gabriel was happily eating his dinner together with his family and friends when he heard a loud explosion. And because of the loud explosion, the floor was shaking like there's an earthquake happening in the area. In a flash of light, Gabriel hugs Serapina to protect her from incoming danger. After the shaking of the ground, he saw the floor was splitting causing them to feel panic. Aside from that, Gabriel was afraid because they are on the tenth floor of the building. In a blink of an eye, they stand up faster to evacuate the place but to his surprise, he was the one who didn't leave faster. With that, Gabriel felt that it was the end of his life since he knows that once he falls on the ground he was sure that he will meet his death. But, Gabriel was surprised when he heard Serapina saying she was going to save him. Instead of being scared for his life, Gabriel found himself smiling for no reason. Then, Gabriel found himself falling, with a sad smile he closed his eyes since he knows that he will surely die this time. But, Gabriel creases his eyebrow when he felt that someone was hugging him. So that, he opened his eyes again and to his surprised it was Serapina. Gabriel was stunned again when he saw the golden wings at the back of Serapina.

"S-Serapina! You have wings!" Gabriel said with a wide eye.

"Yes! So, I'm going to save you!" Serapina said seriously.

"B-But, how?" Gabriels asks Serapina while confused is written on his face.

"I tell you later but before that, we need to look for a safe place."

Instead of answering her, Gabriel chose to keep silent while hugging Serapina. Gabriel can't explain why but he feels shy because Serapina was saving him again. After a minute, they landed in the abandoned building while Gabriel was still confused about what's happening. Then, they saw the building collapsing slowly because of that Gabriel felt uncomfortable since his parents and friends together with his cousin are still in the building.

"What happened to them?" Serapina smiles at Gabriel before answering him.

"Don't worry, they are safe." Gabriel felt happy because of what he heard so that all his negative thoughts were gone when he knows that his parents and friends together with his cousin are safe.

"Can you tell me, about your wings?" Gabriel asks Serapina while smiling in front of her.

"Oh, about my wings? I was an angel in my past life."

"Really?"

"Yes. Are you afraid of me?" Serapina asks Gabriel with a sad smile.

All of a sudden, Gabriel didn't know what to do when he saw that Serapina was became sad. So that, Gabriel found himself hugging Serapina while his face was red like a tomato.

"I'm not afraid of you so don't be sad, Serapina."

"Really? Are you sure, you're not afraid of me?"

"Yes, I'm not afraid of you."

Serapina can't explain herself but she felt happy because of Gabriel. Since Serapina was very happy he kissed Gabriel on his cheek before smiling at him. But, Serapina creases her eyebrows when she saw Gabriel was blushing. Instead of teasing him, Serapina chose to hug him while her sweet smile is still plastered on her red lips.

"Once again, happy birthday, Gabriel," Serapina said to Gabriel.

After that, Serapina kissed Gabriel's cheeks again causing him to blush because of what she did to him. With that, Gabriel can't deny the fact that he was very happy because of Serapina.

"Thank you, Serapina."

Serapina just nods her head before spreading her golden wings again. Suddenly, Serapina creases her eyebrows since she saw the expression of Gabriel. It feels like Gabriel wants to tell something about her.

"Gabriel, are you okay? Do you want something?" Serapina asks Gabriel while still creasing her eyebrows.

Gabriel scratches his hair before answering Serapina. "Can I touch your wings?" Gabriel asks Serapina while his face was still read.

"Sure!"

Then, Gabriel didn't waste time and touch Serapina's golden wings. While touching her wings, Gabriel was amazed since he didn't expect that it was soft like a pillow. Little did he know, Serapina was smiling ear to ear because she didn't expect that Gabriel is having a childish side. When Gabriel feel contented for touching her wings he told Serapina that they can leave now. Once again, Serapina flew to the dark sky while hugging Gabriel. While Gabriel chose to keep silent while looking at his surroundings. With that, a smile plastered on Gabriel's lips since for him it was his best birthday ever. Gabriel stops with his deep thoughts when someone taps his shoulder. Then he saw her mother while concern is plastered on her face.

"Son, how is she?" Shiela asks Gabriel with concern

"She's fine, mommy," Gabriel answers his mother while smiling.

"Son, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, mommy! What is it?"

Shiela took a deep breath before answering her son, Gabriel. "When both of you arrive in the parking lot, why is your face is red like a tomato?"

"What? Do I need to answer your question, mommy?"

A grin plastered on Shiela's face before answering her son. "Yes! So, tell me, what happens to both of you?" Gabriel scratches his chin before answering his mother while his face and ears are bright red.

"She kissed me twice on my cheeks."

"I knew it!" Shiela said happily.

Gabriel was confused when his mother stands up and going to leave his room while she's still grinning.

"Mommy, where are you going?"

"Downstairs, I will them about that, Serapina kissed you in your cheeks!"

Gabriel was going to stop her mother but she went outside his room. So that, all he can do was shake his head while looking at his door in his room. After that, Gabriel chose to stare at Serapina who was still sleeping in his bed. Then, he found himself caressing the gorgeous face of Serapina.

"You're still gorgeous, Serapina."
