“That’s good for you, Ernie. We all know that the boss is strict. I didn’t expect this one,” said Jade.
For Ernie, life was not easy. You need to work hard, be positive and stay strong. Life will not go on as what you want, it will not give you the opportunity that you wanted and it will always give you problems.
“Work is done! Thank you guys!” Jade said and went out of the coffee shop. She was busy cleaning the tables at that time. The coffee shop is closed and she’s also about to go home. She’s just cleaning the last table.
“Ernie, take the cakes from the fridge. I have already prepared it for you,” Christian said.
She went to him after she finished cleaning the table, “Thank you, Christian!”
“You are welcome. I will go first tonight. We have a family dinner,” he said.
Ernie nodded. She also wanted family dinners but she doesn’t have a family. She lives alone.
Now she’s the only one left in the coffee shop.
“Hard, but life will never be easy for you. Life will give you hard times to be taught, you can do this, Ernie!” she said to herself.
At the age of 17, her mother, Erena, died because of diabetes. But before that, her mother worked as a maid for one of the famous families in the town. The Reverizta Family. After his mother died, Ernie left their old apartment and found a new one. She was living alone in the small apartment on Alberto Regalo St. She was still in high school back then and the money that her mother left her, she used to continue her last year in high school.
When she reached 18, Ernie went to find a job to support her studies at the Guerrero Colleges. Everything is not free, she needs to buy books, notebooks, pencils and ballpens. She needs to save money to buy foods and other necessities.
There were times that Ernie wanted to give up and die because she cannot handle all the problems in her life, she cannot live alone and continue living her miserable life. But she remember her mother’s words. “We’ve been through a lot, I know it’s hard for the both of us to continue living, but always remember that I am here, I will always be proud of you. Everything we’ve been praying for is on the way.” She maybe alone right now but she knows that her mother was there guiding her and her decisions.
Ernie become a waitress in that coffee shop near her school, but one job cannot support her studies that’s why she find another one. She was teaching her neighbor’s son for another income.
“Wow…”
Ernie took the cake on the fridge. Every time there were cakes that soon will expire Christian is telling her and giving it to her and to Jade. She likes sweet food that is why cakes make her happy.
She went out of the coffee shop and locks it. When she turned her back and was about to walk she saw that rude man again. She was leaning on his sports car that almost hit her.
Ernie breathes out and walk but the man block her way.
“What is your problem? You don’t need to apologize to me, boss already apologize and that’s enough. I am not expecting anything from you,” she said.
“As if I would apologize, I never apologize to anyone especially to an ugly woman,” the rude guy said.
She can’t believe it! He doesn’t think his words before he say it! He called her ugly for the third time!
“Dettiana said that I should take you home for what I did.”
Her eyebrows went up when she heard that. She didn’t expect that he would obey her boss! He just said that he doesn’t apologize to anyone but he’s obeying her boss to take her home.
“You don’t need to. I am fine, my home was just near this place and you don’t need to take me home,” she said.
Ernie was about to walk when the man took the box of cake she was holding and immediately went inside of his car.
“Hey! What are you doing?! You stole my cake!”
The car window opened and the man looked at her, “Get inside to get your cake. I don’t want to go home late so get in now.”
What is happening?
“I-I don’t know you, you are a stranger, I-I don’t trust people I don’t—
“Oh, man, Detti your boss asked me to take you home because she threatened me that she will tell my parents that I almost kill someone because of my car speed. If I didn’t do this, I will be f****d up so cooperate now, get in the car and let me take you home now, woman,” the rude man said.
He’s getting mad. His eyebrows are forming a straight line now.
Ernie doesn’t have a choice. She gets inside the car, put her seatbelt and told him her address. She doesn’t want to breathe the same air with him. She’s still mad; she cannot believe that this kind of rude person exists.
Actually rude is not the right word for him.
She cannot find the right word to describe this man’s attitude.
She hates it!
Ernie took the box of her cake and place it on her lap. She saw on her peripheral vision that the man looked at her and smirk.
“Poor ugly woman.”
Ernie, chill, just do not let his words get into your head. Your house is near. You are going to leave the demon’s car few minutes. Endure a little more…
She told herself.
“We are here.”
Ernie immediately went out of the demon’s car and walk as fast as she could. She stopped when she heard the man beep his car and look out of the window.
“I don’t want to see your ugly face again,” he said.
Ernie’s mouth parted. She didn’t say a word. Out of anger, she just raised her middle finger as an answer.
“W-What the…”
That was the last word she heard because she run inside her apartment.
“He’s evil!”
