“Gabriel, what are you doing?” Caleb hurriedly approached her, gripping her hand tightly. He then gently placed Jasmine back on the bed. “Are you alright?”
“I'm fine, Caleb. Please don't blame her. The doctor said that pregnant women can become a bit sensitive.” Jasmine explained.
“Pregnant?” Caleb looked towards Gabriel, “Are you pregnant?”
“Doctor Dominic examined her body. He said that Gabriel is pregnant, not a good time to do the transplant. Gabriel must be upset. I don’t mind if mocking me could make her feel better.”
Jasmine tugged at Caleb's sleeve to prevent him from leaving. She looked apologetically at Gabriel, “I didn't mean to eavesdrop on your conversation, but I saw you and the doctor chatting so happily, so I didn't want to interrupt you.”
“I didn't expect her to yell at me when I was asking if she was pregnant. Gabriel seemed quite excited. Am I not supposed to ask her about it, Caleb?”
Jasmine added with a sly intention, deliberately involving Dominic in the conversation.
Gabriel sneered and stood up calmly, saying, “Caleb, she fell off the bed to make show, and I was just trying to help her.”
Caleb's face darkened. He walked menacingly towards Gabriel, gripping her neck with one hand and saying sinisterly, “Get rid of the child!”
Gabriel shook her head vigorously, “Caleb! That's your child.”
“My child? Gabriel, do I look like a fool to you? Do you want me to raise up another man’s child, huh?”
“Nothing happened between me and Dominic. We can get a paternity test done when the baby is born.”
Gabriel’s face turning pale as Caleb Williams tightened his grip around her throat.
“Caleb, let go, or you'll strangle her to death!” Jasmine tried to get off the bed but ended up fainting before reaching the ground.
“Doctor! Call a doctor!” Caleb yelled from the ward. He released his grip on Gabriel and rushed to ring the service bell frantically.
Nurses and doctors rushed into the room, taking Jasmine to the emergency room instantly.
Caleb followed them, warning Gabriel before leaving, “Gabriel, don't think that you're off the hook for a kidney transplant just because you're pregnant. Abort the child within three days. If you don’t do that, I will do it my way.”
Gabriel felt her heart sinking as she slumped against the wall.
She knew that Caleb was capable of anything. She believed he had the means to carry out his threats.
But that was their child.
Her hand rested on her flat belly, as if she could feel the life inside.
No!
She would protect her child. She wouldn't let Jasmine be the winner.
Within three days, she had to collect evidence of Jasmine's acting to convince Caleb.
She visited the hotel where Jasmine had attempted to arrange a gang r**e. It was the same hotel where Isabella was killed. She tried to find surveillance footage, but it was not easy.
Unfortunately, all the videos had been manually deleted.
She decided to pay a high price to have the deleted files restored.
After three days, she managed to restore the video from the hotel, hoping it would be enough to convince Caleb.
Returning to the hospital, she heard that Jasmine's condition had worsened.
“Caleb, there's something I need to tell you.”
Caleb, who hadn't been sleeping well, looked at her wearily. There were dark circles under his eyes.
“You arrived on time. Jasmine is in danger. I've arranged everything for you. Go to the room. We'll proceed with the abortion and transplant as planned.”
