Chapter 13

Diverting Ground: Where Fun Is Everywhere

They said that when your life is boring try to have some fun. The others are celebrating the day that is normal. The others go shopping. The others prefer to go in an Amusement Park.

My life is boring, I know, but I am used to it. If I got really bored i'll make myself to have some pleasure. Like now, I am bored waiting for Allyssa to wake up. Should I do some fun inside this Diverting Ground or Amusement Park? Or do the task that has given to us?

I mean I am sure that I am not the only one who has given a task right? I am sure that the others survive to their reflection, like me and Allyssa and I am sure that they recieve a task too that's means we're just gonna find each others.

I stand from the bench  where I was sitting while waiting outside of the Medic. I walk to explore the Amusement Park and saw the ticket booth at the distance. How can I enjoy this Amusement Park if I don't have any pennies in my pocket.

"That girl is mysterious. She walked in the middle of the road while her eyes are close and fall on the ground." I look at my back when I heard the two girls talking. They are wearing a Red Cross shirt. "The car didn't hit her, but she has lots of wounds in her body." The girl with a brunette hair said. "What if she was abducted and escaped? That's why she has lots of bruises?" The girl with a blonde hair response. They walk away from me that's why the next conversation of theirs are fading.

I walk towards the Medics door and open it. I saw Allyssa sitting down on the bed.  She look to me, shock, like she didn't expect to see me here. "Jack, you're here! Where are the others and why I am here?" She ask. I walk towards her and touch her face. "What are you doing." She ask in confusion. "Your wounds... It healed.." I said. " What wounds Jack?" She's still in her confusion tone. "You had a lot of wounds in your face. I saw it, with my own eyes." I said.

It's impossible. Is it because we are inside the game? That's why our wounds heal by itself? But why my arm isn't heal yet?

I look to my arm where I was shot 3 days ago. I untie the cloth that is stopping my arm to lose blood. "Holy s**t. It  healed too." I said. "Of course it will heal. We are inside a game, nothing is real here." She said. I look at her eyes. She seems different or maybe because I don't know her that well.

I look to my arm again and it was like... It was like nothing happened to my arm, no scars, no blood, no whole. Just a plain arm. Does that mean... When a player died, they didn't really die? If that's the case, where are they now?

"Why I am here? I can't remember." She ask. " You fainted. You are walking on the middle of the road where cars are passing by." I said. "Oh. I remember opening a door for me to get out of that hell place." She said. "What place?"  I ask like I didn't know the answer. "The place where full of mirrors." She answered.

Yes it was hell, I think so.

"I saw my dead parents reflection on that place. They... They want me to be with them, to be a reflection like them." She said. Her tears fell down to her cheeks but she wipe it out as fast as she can. "Where are we? And where are the others?" She ask again. "We are at the Amusement Park of Washington, I don't know exactly the place, but we are in Washington. And the others, they're probably still inside the mirror." I said.

I gave her the paper where our next task was written. She read it and look to me. "We must probably find them." She said. "Wait, are you sure you're okay?" I ask her. "Im fine." She said.

We heard a door opened so we look. At that moment, the person who came inside look at me and I look at him. Prince Eric? He came with us! But he looks older than he look earlier.

"You look like me when I was young." He said. Before I spell out his name, i stop. When he was young? "What's your name kid?" He ask. "You don't remember me?" I ask. I look to Allyssa and she's confuse too on what's happening.

"Excuse me? If I saw you before I will never forget you because we have the same looks, except my eyes are green and yours are hazel." He said. So I am right. He is really Prince Eric. "I'm Jack. Are you sure? You don't remember me? Us? " I ask. I walk slowly towards him. "Yes kid I don't remember you. And is this your friend?" He ask me and point his finger to Allyssa. "The nurses said that your wounds heal by itself, I don't believe it firat, but when I saw you... I think it's miraculous." He said. "Who are you? A doctor?"  Allyssa ask. "I am the owner of this Diverting Ground. Why'd you ask?"

Owner? Really? An Owner of this Amusement Park? How? It's like his with us earlier and now he owned this place?

"So you're not a Prince Anymore?" s**t! Did I just say it out loud? It supposed to be a question insde my head. He looks to me, shock. "How did you know that I'm a Prince? Do I know you?" He ask in confusion. "Because... Because.." "Because we leave in a kingdom with you.." Allyssa lied. "Yeah, yes that's right we live in your kingdom... Kingdom Zootopia? "I said. "Zenthopia. I mean. No one survive the war... How did you.." He stop and look down.

Okay? What is going on? I look to Allyssa and she's looking to Prince Eric.

"You know what? Nevermind. I think my wife needs me. Just enjoy my Amusement Park." He said and he leave us. "Why doesn't he remember us?" I ask. "Maybe there memory wipe out? Or maybe he doesn't really remember us because years had passed." She said.

What year is it by the way?

"We should probably find them." Allyssa said. She jump out on the bed. "We have to find the others." She open the door and went outside the medic.

I followed her outside and she was staring at the Ferris Wheel. "I remember being a kid. My family used to hangout and they love to go in a place where full of rides." She said while she still staring at the ferris wheel. I walk at her side and look to the ferris wheel. "What's so special about the ferris wheel?" I ask her.

I heard her sobbing so I look at her. She was crying.

"If I didn't hang out with my girls in Amusement Park that day, maybe I'm with my family now. Maybe I'm with them, with their reflection." She said while wiping her tears out. "Ferris Wheel is the last ride I enjoyed before going home. I was having fun while my parents are dying Jack! I am a useless daughter!" She said.

I was shock when she hug me. She cried at my shoulder. After a second she stop crying and look at me.

"If I tell you my secret, would you forgive me?" She ask while looking at my eyes. "Of course. I wouldn't judge you." I said. "I killed my baby." She said.

For that moment everything stop. She killed her baby?

"You got pregnant? And the father are those asshole who r***d you?" I ask him in a shock tone. "No, It's Daniel." She said.

Wait what? She killed her baby with Daniel?

"Why? I mean..." I ask. I don't get why she killed her baby with Daniel. Does Daniel know? "Because it terrified me! I am mad at him... And, and I was out of my mind that time! I-I thought the baby was from those monster who r***d me! But no..." She said. "Does Daniel know?" I ask. She look down and take a deep breath before answering my question. "No."

Oh.

I comfort her and she hug me. My heartbeat running fast, what is happening? This is the first time I felt this thing. Am I nervous? Afraid? But why? This is the first time I hug a girl because even Maxine, even I hug her, it doesn't feel like this.

"Maxine! No!! Please wake up! Maxine!" I heard my own voice, but it's not in my mind. Until I realized I'm having a visions again. I saw myself kneeling on the ground and hugging Maxine. She is laying on my lap. She's like, breathless.

"Jack. Jack look." I heard Allyssa's voice. "Is that the local President at Friday Harbor?" She said.

I slowly turn back and saw  Mr.George Bernard. He was talking with Prince Eric.

"President?" I ask in confusion. She look to me but did not answer my question instead she ask something. "Are they arguing?" They look arguing, yes. I tried to walk towards them but Allyssa stop me. "Don't. We don't know what can happen next." She said. I saw Prince Eric pointing out a room. And we watched them walk inside that room. "What do you think are they gonna do there?" I ask. "I don't know." She answered.

I know something is not right. I know there is something isn't right.  "Allyssa, I have to check." I said. "No, what if you ended up dying?" She said. "I'm not gonna die I promise." I said. "Because you're gonna kill him." She said.

Why does she think I'm gonna kill him? I mean, I wanted too but i can't. Not this time. 

"Im not a killer. Why'd you say that?" I ask her. "You don't really remember. Fine. Go. I'll find the others they must be in here, inside this Amusement Park. We can't be here without a reason." She said. I agree with that. I leave her where we we're standing earlier. I walk towards that room. I don't know what is happening to me but everytime I pass a smiling person my heart beats went slow to fast, second by second. And why did she said that George Bernard or the person who abduct me is the president?

I accidentally step on a paper so I look down. I saw a newspaper laying down on the cement so I get it. It's an old news paper. At the front page I saw the old President smiling. I read the newspaper s head.

'President Carter announce a big celebration for the Independence Day at the Diverting Ground: Where fun is everywhere or the Amusement Park in Friday Harbor, in San Juan, Washington tomorrow July 4, 2025 and donated 10 Thousand Dollar to it's owner Eric Dallas for the event.

Everyone is invited!'

The news said.

But it's not the news that get my attention. It is the President's face and the date. I never saw the President's face ever before. I only saw my uncle's face because he has a picture in the mansion. But the President's Face is the Face of the old man who build this Game!

Dr. Carter!

I am sure of it! That Dr. Carter and President Carter is just the same! Then, he isn't missing at all! My uncle didn't abduct the old president! Because the old President is building this game, since the beginning.  But why? What is his really intentions why he build this game?

And the date from the newspaper!

July 3, 2025! The year I was born! And I was 2 months old!

I run towards the room when I heard gunshots! Am I the only who heard the shot? I run towards the room and kick the door.

"What the hell?" I said when I saw blood stains on the floor. I slowly walk and follow the blood stain. It leads me to a room. "Eric!" I shout his name. I saw him tied up on a chair. He is crying. There was a tape on his mouth. I run towards him and untape the tape to his mouth. "Help me! Please!" He said. I untie him and he run after. I followed him and I was shock on what I saw.

"Cassandra! Please! Wake up! Cassandra!!" Eric scream.

Princess Cassandra is laying on the floor and her forehead was shot. The blood on the floor is from her head.  I can't watch it! It's terrible! I wish i'd come early! I wish I didn't listen to Allyssa! I walk towards her and kneel down.

"Holy shit..." I whispered. "I will make sure that he will pay! That he will f*****g pay!!" Prince Eric said. I felt his madness in his tone. "What do they want?" I ask him. "They want the money that the President gave to me! And my son!" He said. "But im glad that the money and my son isn't here. But I am sure! That he will pay! I will kill him! I will f*****g kill him!" He said.

Until we heard a loud scream from outside.

We leave the room to look on what is happening. "What the f**k!" We both said.

Because what is happening outside is really f**k up. Because the Amusement Park is now burning.

He really mess up. Mr George really mess up.
