Chapter 12

Reflection

Did you know that you can't see yourself? That you only saw your reflection? That the people who is around you are the only one who can see your real self. Even you look hard in the mirror to see what's your real appearance but you don't know of that is real. Because every mirror has different size, different shape and different quality it means every mirror is different you.

But this mirror in front of me is just me. Same size, same shape and same Jack Brenner. I walk towards my reflection wondering how many Jack Brenner are out there. Is their life is same as mine? Better than mine? Or worst than mine?

"There's no other Jack Brenner in the world." I was shock when my reflection talk. "Are you real?" I don't know why I am talking to my reflection and why I am not scared. "Of course I am, are you?" My reflection ask back and smiled. No he didn't smile he smirk. "Why are you here?" I ask. " To help you." Reflection said.

I laugh. Help me? No one can help me! Even Prince Eric the person who looks like me can't help me. Even this game! No one can help me!

"No one can help me." I said. "I am you, and you are me but the difference is I know everything about  you." Then he walk towards the mirror and touch it. "If you touch me, you could remember anything." My reflection said. "I'm not stupid! I am not you! You are just my reflection!" I shout. But he laugh. " I am not your reflection. I am inside you. I am your ghost." He said. "Look." He added.

There was a kid who walk towards him from his back and a person who look likes me. The kid is wearing some wire in his head and the other me is wearing a crown. If im not mistaken this guy is Prince Eric but the kid, isn't familiar.

"All of us are one. We are all one." He said and smile. "We are all one." The kid said. "We are all one." The guy who looks like me but wearing a crown or should I say Prince Eric said. "We are all one." They said simultaneously.

"Stop it!" I shout. I covered my ears but their voice is whispering inside my head. "I said stop!" I shout and I heard a breaking glass. Every single pieces of the mirror splattered everywhere.

I close my eyes and sat down to protect myself. I can't move because... Because i am scared for the first time of my life. When everything is quiet again I slowly open my eyes while I'm still covering my ears. I am confuse because all the mirrors are fine. Nothing broke, nothing in pieces and my reflection is now me, no other me.

I slowly stand up while shaking. How do I get out of here? I look around but all I can see is darkness and my reflection. Nothing else, nothing more.

Did I just hallucinate about using my power to break the mirror? I take a deep breath and walk. I'm slowly walking while touching every mirror in my way to find the way out. Minutes had passed, I still can't find the way out of here, and I felt tired. I sat down and hug my knee.

I'm not just tired finding the way out of here, I am tired of playing this game because it messes my mind so much. I don't know what to believe on what is real. I'm having a visions about anything that I can't remember things that had happened that isn't inside my memory.

Questions are coming to my mind everytime we move to another task. And those question doesn't have an answer. Instead of me finding about my past there is a new memory missing in my head. Instead of finding why I have this power, I use it a lot. Instead of finding who my parents was, I met  a person who looks like me.

I'm tired winning this game, but I am scared to die.

"That's why you have to believe and wait." I look again at my front and I saw my reflection talking again. "You are not a bad guy, that's why I am not a bad guy. See? We are same but I have no life and you have." I listen to my reflection because I am tired of fighting back. I lean my head on the mirror at my back for me to rest.

"You just have to look at your front and you will see how to get out of here. You see Jack, I am just your reflection, that means  I am not alive in your world but I am alive inside of you. What you think is what I know. I am the one who helps you remember. If you let anyone drag you down..." My reflection stop so I look up. "Then I'm sorry, I'm gonna live my life in your body."

I suddenly stand because I was freak out. It fade way like a smoke and I saw now myself, my real self. And the person I saw earlier is just me, but covered in blood..

"Look at your front."  Suddenly someone whispered in my ear, but no one is in here, besides myself. I look at my front and I saw nothing but my reflection. I walk towards it but there is no mirror in front of me. The next mirror is just long distance from me.

So I continue walking.

I just walk straight and saw a red door.

Okay this is kind of creepy. Red doors are only for horror movies. When I approach the red door I touch the door knob.

I hope this is the way out.

I slowly open the door and a bright light meet my eyes that makes me close my eyes because it hurts. After a second when the white lights are fading I slowly open my eyes and saw myself standing in the middle of the...

"What the f**k!" I shout when I heard a trucks horns. I jump backwards that cause me fall to the ground. I heard a lot of horns from their car. I slowly look to my right and a car is approaching at my way.

Oh s**t. I stand as fast as I could and run towards the corner. I take a deep breath as many as I can when I can't breath. Same feeling when I'm having a weird dreams that I can't understand the metaphor. I look to the road where cars are passing.

I hold my knee and sat down.

What the hell was that? Do they want me dead? I look around because maybe there are some players around!

I heard an entertaining sound at my back so I turn around. Oh wow.

An amusement park.

"Welcome to Diverting Ground, where fun is everywhere!"

I smiled and stand up to walk inside the amusement park. The sounds are really loud, from the music and from the scream of those people who is having fun. I look around and observing those rides and people. Where are the others? Where are the players? "Excuse me sir, are you gonna buy a ticket." I was shock when someone talk to me. I look to my right and saw a ticket booth. "I'm sorry I'm just finding someone." I answered and smile so she smiles back. "No worries." She said. I left the ticket booth and continue to walk. Where is Charles? Cameron? Allyssa, Nadia... Where is everyone?

Someone touch me so I turn around assuming there's some player here with me.

I look to the girl who is standing in front of me and smiling. I smiled and kneel down to have a same height as her. "Hi Mister. I am Katelyn, what's yours." She ask while smiling. "I'm Jack." I answered and smile. "Where are your parents?" I ask her. She smiled and point out the two couples who is buying some candy. "Is that a blood Mister?" The kid ask and point out the red stains on my shirt. I mean..  it's a blood but I can't tell that it is. "It's a red paint. " I lie and smile. "I love arts too!" She said.

After that the little girl handed me a piece of paper.

"What's this?" I ask the little child. "There's an old man who wants me to give you this. He said it's a letter for your next game." She said. "What is that game Mister? Can I know?" She ask.

Okay. I can lie, but not to a kid. I'm out of lies in my head right now.

"Katelyn." We all look up and saw a woman standing. "Mommy!" The child said and hug her. "Thank you so much Mister." The woman said and they walk away. I still heard them talking about why the little girl left  her mother.

I look to the paper and open it.

'Your next challenge is to find your members before they die to their own reflection. Washington is a big place but all of you are on the same page. Goodluck.'

Die on their own reflection?

I almost hit by a truck and a car! If they hit me! I die because of it not with my own reflection. But Washington? My place? Does that mean, my town Friday Harbor is in here? But where? I mean, Friday Harbor is a town inside the Washington and I only live my life for 3 years and I didn't go out the town?

"Oh my god the girl!" I look outside the Amusement Park when we heard a loud horns. A girl is in the middle of the road and she's laying on the ground. Did she passed out?

I run towards the crowded people and realized who the girl was...

"ALLYSSA!"

I look to the car and use my mind to stop it, but before I do it stop by it's own.

I run towards Allyssa and call for help.

"There's a medic inside the Amusement Park!" A guy said. They help me bring Allyssa inside the Amusement Park. We get her in the medic here in Amusement Park and i stay outside the room. What happened to her and why there are lot of scratch and wound in her body and face?
