Chapter 7

Dark Tower

"All of you are tired if we're not mistaken. Thirsty, and tired. Don't worry, you can have all of that in the Dark Tower. But, it's not that easy. You need to pass those sleeping monster before sun rise, without being eaten, the only way to do that, is to keep quiet." The announcer said before the voice fade out.

The lights from the street open one by one. I didn't see any monsters around, so where are they? "Ah." Charles groan. I look to him and sitting on the ground while holding his leg where the Wolverine animal bit him. I walk towards him. "Do you have any scarf? A cloth maybe?" I ask. "Theres a cloth there, maybe you can use it." One player said. "Okay! We need to spread out. Pick your partner and spread. We can't go all together because if we do, there are possibilities that we can make a sound that can woke them up." Daniel explain.

Everyone chose their partner and they start walking.

"Here." I look to Cameron when he gave me the cloth. "Thanks." I said and get it to his hand. I tie the cloth to Charles bleeding leg and he groan in pain. "Your doing it wrong." Daniel said. He walk towards us and help me tie it to his leg. Charles groan again and this time it's loud. Daniel covered Charles mouth to prevent any noise coming out from him."Can you stop it?! Your making too much noise!"

I take a deep breath. Things happened fast. The game? Everything? There are lot of things I want to understand! More than 10 answer that I need to know. I don't really know why they chose me to play this game, or why are we playing this game, what for? If I didn't put myself inside the Tv where the door is, I might be dead right now because of crazy Bernard. But I know, something isn't right. Going inside a television, is impossible, but how did that happened?

"Done. Now can you walk?" I stop thinking about things when Daniel talk. "Thanks bro." Charles said. "No need. Let's move now, I'm hungry." Daniel answered, he stood up and start walking. Nadia and Allyssa help Charles to stand and walk, we follow Daniel without making any noise.

"I thought you're a bad guy." I whisper to Daniel and he face me with his angry figured expression. "What?" I ask in confusion. "You are the bad guy here, and I'm not." He said. "Well I really thought you're an asshole. After you punch my face earlier? And after calling me as a selfish brat? Wow, just wow." I explain. "Why? Don't tell me you're not just like me, to be honest, you're worst than a Daniel Western." He said in sarcasm.

I stop walking and face him.

"You know what? I'm not gonna compliment you ever again!" I said and leave him. " I don't need compliments Jack. Maybe you should." He said. "You know what? Eat your ass!" I said and put my middle finger up. I walk towards this boy side or Cameron, whatever name he has. "You alright?" He ask. "Yeah, why'd you ask?" I ask him. "Doesn't matter." He answer.

I don't think I can make myself comfortable to them, I miss my friends. I wonder what they are doing now? Until I just saw Maxine's face in my mind. She was laughing at the park, when the day police drag  me.

I don't understand why.  She called me and she needed help, I run as fast as I could to get her? Then what? She was just watching me while the police hurting me? Why? She is my friend? Why did she ditch me? Or maybe I'm just hallucinating? Maxine can't do that, and if she did, I expect a deeper explantion.

"Is a birthday thing real?" I was shock when Cameron ask me. "Excuse me?" Why did he even ask that question? "I don't know what a birthday means, but I felt like it's real or I knew it for the long time, I just can't remember. When you shout that word the day you woke up, I can't get rid of that word in my head."

I cant talk about birthday or age, like Charles said. That's the other thing that bothering me here. All of them doesn't remember their age, even what a birthday means. I don't get why? I remember what Charles told to me. They can hear us talking and we cant act like we know everything because if we did, I don't know what's gonna happen to us.

"I don't know what are you talking about, I said that because it just came out of my mouth. I don't even know what that means..." I lied. "Oh. But you don't look like a mu--" He stop talking when we heard a loud noise. A gun shot sound, for the second time.  "What the f**k was that?!" Daniel said. On that moment, we heard a growl, a lot of growl. "I think we should run." Allyssa suggest. "Run!!" Daniel shout when the monster woke up.

They all run except for me. I felt burn in my arm so I look to it, and I was shock on what I saw. Is this a blood?  Where did i get this? Did someone shot me? I heard a growl at my back. I slowly turn my head around and I was shock when there's a monster standing there, I accidentally make myself punch the ground in shockness. I crawl as fast as I could and prepare myself to stand and run.

When I put my two feets on the ground, I run. I don't know where I'm going, but the important thing is that I'm not gonna end up dead because of those stupid monster. I saw a big wall on my left so I run towards it and hid at the back.  I cover my mouth with my hand. I don't want to make any noise.

I hold my arm for the blood to stop bleeding and I stop myself from making any noise when I felt the pain on it. I look to my arm and I can see the bullet in it. When I heard a growl at my side, I turn around slowly and there's where I saw the monster looking at me. "Aaahhh!!" I scream. He jump to me that make me lay the ground with the monster on my top. I use my arm to protect my face. "You b***h!" I said and punch the face of the monster, but nothing happen, he still stayed on top of me.

I look to my left when I saw some shining object, I try to reach it but it's too far from me to get. Until some blood splatter to my face again. This time, my whole face.  "What the s**t!!" I scream and wipe the blood on my face. When I open my eyes I saw Cameron holding an axe and a hammer. "Where the heck did you get that?" I ask him. "Somewhere, over the fences." He answered and gave his hand to me. He help me to stand up and he even gave me the hammer.

"What the hell happened to your arm?" He ask. "I got shot by someone. "I said. He ripped his shirt off and pulled the bullet in my arm that I didn't expect so i scream so loud. He tied the piece of cloth on my arm, like what we did to Charles.

"Be quiet! You are now the target of those freaking monster! We need to be in that tower before sunrise! We just need to run, no stopping, just run!" He said. I agreed to him and we start running. On that moment the monster chase us, and I was shock when i saw a lot of dead bodies on the ground.

"Where are the others?" I ask him while running. "There at the tower, the others are dead! Don't worry, I have the keys to open the tower." He said. "How did you get the keys!" I ask him. "I've been in the tower with Daniel and others! Until I realized that you're not with us, so I came back with a key and a weapon." He answer.

Well I thank him. If he didn't come back for me, I'm sure I'm one of the delicious human that the monster tasted. "Here!" Cameron said and goes to a little cave. We hide there when we are too far to those monster. "Thanks." I said. "No problem. But we still need to be quiet if you want to stay alive. " Cameron said.

We both heard a growl inside where we are hiding.

"s**t!" Cameron said and push me out in the cave to get out of there. When we get out, the monster inside the cave jump out towards me. I'm not that alert so i just stand there like an i***t, until I saw his head flew away to his body. The blood splatter to us after that. I look around and the monster are still chasing us. I look where the tower at, and there still a hundred kilometers before we get there.

"You have to be alert Jack! Next time I'm not there to save your life, it's you to save mine. Come on!" He said and run again so i followed him.  We didn't know each other that much, but he's being a good person to me.

"s**t!" I said when someone grab my feet that makes me fall. There's a monster holding my feet on the ground. He crawl up to me, but before he reach my belly, I beat it's head using my hammer multiple times until it's head are c***k and open.

"Run Jack!! We're now near at the tower!" He said. When we approach the gate, Cameron pulled the key to his pocket to open the gate.

"Cameron! Faster! They are near too!" I said. "Wait! Distract them first!" He said. How am I gonna distract them? I look around and found a dead body near me. I run towards the body and drag it.  "It doesn't fit! I don't know why!" He said. "How about we just destroy the gate?" I said. "We can't! If we destroy the gate the monster will chase us even inside this tower!" He said. I remember one thing. I have power. We can use my power to open the gate!

"Cameron! I know you know about me, but the only thing for us to stay alive, is to use my head!" I said and he agreed. I walk towards the gate and put my hands to it's direction, and I focus.

Come on! I need energy! I look harder to the gate and force myself to release an energy. But I can't! Those freaking ugly monster distract me! They got me nervous! I try focusing again when my patience reach the red limit on my head because of the monster.

"Shut the hell up!" I scream so loud and turn around to face the monster. The ground starts shaking, the air blowed at my surroundings and some energy released from my body. The clouds make a loud noise, a thunder sound. All the lights from the street to the tower flickering, non stop until it explodes. It made a loud thunder noise again and we all heard a bone cracking sound. From that moment, we saw how those monster head explode like theres some bomb inside their head. The headless monsters fall to the ground simultaneously.

"Ho. Ly. s**t!" Cameron said in an extreme tone. "That was freaking awesome!" He continued! "Wait! Your eyes!" He said and walk towards me. "Why? What's with my eyes?" I ask him. My body is very tired, even my brain is. I felt something at my upper lips like there's some liquid goes down from my nose. I wiped it and I saw blood.

"The color of your eyes earlier fades. But i am sure that it is red!"  Cameron answered. "Are you okay?" He ask. "Im tired." I said. He help me walk because I feel like I'm gonna collapse anytime. The gate is laying on the door with a bent position.

We walk on the stairs inside the dark tower. After walking the unlimited steps, finally! We are now at the top where the food was placed. Im really tired and hungry. I need food and water.

When we went inside and we are shock on what we saw, the others are lying down and the others are just sitting on the ground like they're waiting.

I run towards the table where the water and foods was place, I drink the water first before I get the soup and a chicken. " Jack stop!" Someone stop me. I look at him with a confuse face. I saw Cameron stop eating too. "Why is that?" I ask. "They are all poison! Haven't you see the word written on the wall?" I look around and theres a writing on the wall.

It's all poison except for the water. We can just sleep and drink but we cannot eat the food. They said too that there's another door where if we open we're gonna go to a palace party were all of foods are free but we need to find the crown first because the key is in the crown to open the door.  The door is in the top of the tower where we're standing right now. Why does this have to happen? I expect relief, not reject.

"Oh. f**k me b***h!" I said before I faint.
