After the sheets were removed from our bed, Jacob and I went upstairs to take our baths. He let me take one first. I sat as still as I could as he ran a washcloth across my back. I shivered at his touch. Jacob kissed my shoulder, and I looked over my shoulder at him. He was frowning as he cleaned my back. “Jacob?” I whispered. He didn’t answer. “Jacob?” He still didn’t answer. I turned to completely face him. The prince still wasn’t looking at me. I reached out, cupping his face and making him look up at me. His brown eyes were dark as he finally met mine. He only looked at me for a moment before looking away. “What’s wrong?” I asked. Jacob shook his head, still not answering. “Jacob. Talk to me.” His silence filled the room. “I’m… I’m sorry. This is my fault.”
