Yui wasn’t joking about what she said to Ayato.
More than two weeks have passed now, and Yui would hardly acknowledge Ayato’s presence whenever he came around. The only talking they would do is whenever they were at forced family gatherings due to Reiji. Even when Ayato came to Yui for blood, their exchanges were silent. To the point that it messed with Ayato’s appetite, not seeing Yui react per usual. One day, he stopped coming to her all together. She isn’t fazed.
The other members of the house left it alone, too unbothered to even care.
Currently, Yui could be found spending time with her dear daughter. The two blondes giggling and smiling together until Laito unexpectedly appeared behind her, grabbing hold of her waist.
“What are you doing, Little Mama?”
“Enjoying the evening together. What brings you here, Laito-Kun?” You answers, before giving a question of her own.
“I decided that I wanted to put on a little show for you and Ema.”
“I’m suddenly important?” She jokes.
“Well, you are her mother.”
Yui smiles. Ever since Laito opened up to her weeks ago, he’s been more playful and sweet to Yui. Of course, whenever he felt the need to prey upon her, he would completely revert back to his old ways. His teasing and lust became ten fold though having new found affection for the high school girl.
The duo proceeds in making a trip down to another room of the manor, which houses the grand piano, taking the babbling infant with them. During their walk, they pass by a hall that splits off from the main hallway. In that space resides Ayato, and he isn’t alone. Another girl is pushed up against the wall with his knees resting in between hers and his fangs buried deep into her collarbone. He drank greedily, almost as if he couldn’t get enough but felt the presence of someone watching him.
“Hmm? Look Mama, it seems Ayato has replaced you.” Laito said eyeing his brother who glared back, but Ayato is more interested in what Yui would say about the scene playing not too far from her.
“He can do whatever he wants. He’s ‘Yours Truly’ after all.” Yui spoke, not even giving Ayato a glance in his direction. Why would she care where he got his sustenance from in the first place? After the prior incident that took place weeks ago, she meant what she said about wanting nothing to do with him.
Yui continues on with Ema bouncing in her arms, and Laito right behind her trying his hardest not to laugh out loud.
What the hell just happened? Seeing him with another was supposed to make her jealous! She didn’t even act surprised. Ayato furrows his brow at the realization that his plan backfired. What is he going to do now? He ends up dropping the unknown woman’s body to the ground. Her blood wasn’t even close to the rich velvet taste that coated his tongue whenever he drank from Yui. He is about to leave her there for Kanato to find to do whatever he saw fit, but the woman whose name he didn’t even try to remember grabbed hold of his ankle.
“Ayato-San, what about me?” She pants, still weak from his most recent feeding.
“What about you? You were just a pawn, one that failed me.” With that, Ayato removes his ankle from her grasp to bleed out on the floor.
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t leave your half finished meals lying around, it’s unsightly and plain messy.”
“Hmm? Then why don’t you clean it four-eyes?” Ayato sasses, not having the patience to listen to one of Reiji’s lectures.
“I’m not your maid, and no one else here is either.” Is Reiji’s response.
Ayato simply scoffs and goes off to find Yui and Ema, leaving Reiji alone in the hallway. That is until another figure appears beside the second son.
“Do you see what letting that parasite into the house has led to? It’s disturbed the natural order of things. Subaru’s temper has calmed, Yui, mere prey, is acting out, and your own full-blooded brother has threatened your very lives over it. What do you think, Kanato?” Reiji asks, glancing down at the younger immortal.
“I hate it. Laito chose some human insect over us. It needs to disappear off the face of the earth, right, Teddy?” Kanato exclaims, clutching the plush toy with amazing strength. Reiji smirks down at the sight, before facing the direction Ayato and the others left in, feeling very pleased with himself.
“Right indeed.”
…
Quickly forgetting about Ayato, Laito and Yui made their to the grand piano with Ema smiling at the conflicted third son following them from behind. She enjoyed being kidnapped by the young man, she found his odd mannerisms amusing and entertaining when he tried to keep her from crying.
From the moment Ayato stole the baby girl right from under Subaru’s nose, he dropped her off at the poolside on the very same couch before disappearing again. Confused by what just happened, the little girl felt alone and scared and started to wail, the loud cry echoing off the walls. It surprised Ayato greatly once the piercing shrieks penetrated his eardrums and shattered his skull.
“God damn it all! Shut up!” He yelled at the infant, but his shouting only scared her more. He quickly began to panic as her cries became louder, afraid of Laito or Subaru finding out his hiding spot more quickly than he planned.
“Crap, what does pancake usually do when you start crying?” He asked himself more than the crying infant. He tried all sorts of things, funny faces, weird noises, threatening, okay maybe that last one wasn’t his best idea. He was about to give up and let the little girl cry herself to sleep until he sat down beside her, this caught the girl’s attention. She still balled like the baby she is, but climbed into his lap. Ayato was immensely confused at to what the seventh-month old had in mind. He didn’t stop her like he thought she should, curious to see what she would do next.
Unexpectedly, he didn’t think that she would grab on to his shirt and use it to hoist herself up on to her chubby legs. Woah! Were babies even supposed to know how to do that yet? Ayato was completely taken back. The infant didn’t even wobble, with her hands secured by his open shirt, her legs stood firm on his thighs. She took her new height advantage as a way to look into her captor’s eyes. Her blue hues looked deeply into Ayato’s green eyes. Why is she staring at him like that? The little girl smiles. Why is she smiling at him like that? Shouldn’t this kid be scared? There was no Mommy or Daddy Laito and Subaru here to save her. Yet, here she is smiling at him. Too young, too innocent to know what is going on. The girl tries to move her hands to his face, but she quickly loses balance and falls backwards. Completely freaking out, Ayato quickly steadies the baby girl to stand on lap with his hands around her waist. The baby squeals with glee and starts chewing in her hand as Ayato sighed in relief. What is he doing? He could already tell that he fell for the baby’s girl trap, and scolded himself. He looked up into the eyes of the little girl’s once more, a genuine smile spreading to his face. He’s completely hopeless.
“Maybe you aren’t so bad after all. I can finally see what those bastards and Yui see in you.” He chuckles, watching as the gurgling infant bounces on her feet. Ayato continues to play with Ema this way, bouncing her on his lap before racing her high into the air. He brought he back down to stand in his lap.
“If you want to walk that badly, I’ll teach you, kid. But don’t expect me to go easy on you just because you’re a little cute.” He spoke to the drooling blonde baby.
Ayato grins. He swears never to let anything stop him keeping his promise to the child. Nothing.
Not even his brother, “Very clever of you, Little Aya.” A smooth voice cuts through the silence.
And so it begins.
