Kanato clings to Teddy with a death grip, his eyes glare across the room at the group on people in front of him as he hides in the shadows.
Their merriment outshines his presence. He is an outcast, and he sees that now. Even his own brothers have forsaken him to parent that insufferable human child with that w***e. Laito, Ayato, and Subaru were gathered around Yui as the baby girl walked from parent to parent. Even Shuu could be seen behind the young woman with an arm strapped securely around her waist. She didn’t mind. None of them did. They were in their own little world. One that Kanato shared no part of. One that he wanted to destroy. As he watches his brothers and half brothers fawn over the small child, he thought back to that day.
…
“What do you want, Reiji-San?”
He wasn’t in the mood to hear the second son lecture him or do anything of the sort. Instead, the glasses-wearing vampire simply adjusted his spectacles with a smug grin on his face.
“It seems you’ve been replaced, Kanato.”
The fourth son clings to the stuffed animal in his arms while sending a glare to his older sibling.
“What do you mean?”
“Judging by Laito’s change in attitude towards you, threatening his own full-blooded brothers no less, it seems the only thing he sees worth any trouble is her and that abomination she brought into the house.” Reiji concludes with his smirk fully in place. None of this affected him in the slightest, but when you see a pawn in your game, the smartest thing you can do is use it.
Kanato kept quiet with a death grip on Teddy as he processes the older vampires words. Has he truly been replaced? Is he being forgotten? Left behind? He didn’t want that. He didn’t want that! He hates it! He hates it! He hates that woman! He hates that girl!
“I don’t want that.” He whispers into Teddy’s soft head, seeking comfort. He looks up to the second vampiric son, “Reiji-San, I don’t want that. It needs to go away, far away. That thing is making everyone change, I don’t like it.” Kanato speaks to his little brother through the fluffiness of Teddy. His eyes turn hollow imagining being left behind by his brothers, being left for that woman and the small infant. He needed to get rid of it. By any means necessary. The bloodier the better.
A small, sinister, maddening smile plays on Kanato’s lips in the most toxic way. Reiji sees this and can already see that his plan is being put into motion without him having to lift a finger. All he had to do is continue to stoke the flames. And keep doing so until they were too hot to contain.
“I couldn’t agree more.”
…
His throat is terribly dry. It’s been awhile since he drank from Yui, and she hadn’t even wondered how he’s fairing. Inconsiderate slut. He would fix that. All he needs to do is wait. In the meantime, he guesses he could get his sustenance from Ayato’s left over snack. At least this one, is more obedient but her dull, tasteless blood couldn’t compare to Yui’s addictive and high quality blood. Oh well. Though patience isn’t his virtue, he needs to make due until he can rid himself of this maddening insect.
“We’ll kill her someday, right, Teddy?” He giggles with a crazed look in his eye, while watching the infant get tossed in the air slightly by Subaru. It makes him want to hurl. Kanato’s expression darkens as he walks away from the scene. His mind reeling but at the same time drifts back to another day.
…
“What are you planning, Reiji-San?” Kanato appears inside his brother’s domain. Reiji allows this, too busy focusing on a new elixir he needed to finish.
“Whatever do you mean?” Reiji asks in return.
“I know you want that sickening creature gone, what are you going to do?” Kanato questions.
Reiji simply smirks, and adjust his glasses to fit perfectly on his handsome face.
“I mean, what do you achieve out of getting rid of the baby?” Kanato asks again, feeling his irritation rise.
“I get the satisfaction of everything going back to normal, just like you. That child is only causing problems around the house. The crying is a nuisance, and she’s getting a little too confident with her new role as a ‘mother’. So it would be in everyone’s best interest to rid the house of this parasite.” Reiji states matter-of-factly with barely any emotion behind his words. He proceeds to move from his work space to recline on the couch in the center of the room. He removes his glasses for optimal comfort and feels his little brother’s gaze on his form.
“Is that so?” Kanato speaks, a question still lingering in his words.
Reiji smirks, “Indeed it is.” Of course it was.
After going over Reiji’s words, Kanato finally makes a decision, silently seeking Teddy’s approval before continuing.
“Then, I kill it.”
…
All he needed is a chance. A breach in their defense. Shuu wouldn’t change and would only be around the little girl whenever she was calm or needed to rest during the day. Subaru is around to help Yui whenever she needed to leave Ema. And Ayato and Laito never seem to leave Yui’s side. And after the stunt Ayato pulled weeks ago, Subaru is extra cautious to make sure never to make the same mistake again.
Kanato clicks his tongue. This is turning out to be bothersome and more difficult than he would have liked. No matter. He continues to walk while a plan start formulating in the back of his mind. He would finish this.
Meet me in the Doll House. That’s what the note said. It’s been awhile since Kanato tried to drink from her, and admittedly Yui’s a bit worried about how he’s fairing at this point. As protection, both Laito and Ayato came with her to see what their violet haired triplet wanted. None of them trusted the vampire. And with good reason to as well since the middle triplet has such violent tendencies that outshines even Subaru.
The trio entered the creepy building where Kanato kept his prized collection. They looked around but saw no sign of the fourth son.
“It seems he’s not here, Little Bitch.” Laito states the obvious.
“Then where the hell is he?” Ayato exclaims, quickly getting irritated with having wasted his precious time with the bundle of joy back in the main house.
“If Kanato-Kun isn’t here then this…” Yui speaks quietly, her eyes widen in shock at her sudden revelation.
“Is a trap!”
…
Subaru doesn’t leave Ema by herself. He doesn’t wish to make the same mistake again so he follows the wandering infant around the room. He watches her with a small smile on his face as she walks on her tiny legs only to redirect her if she wanders too far. They were in the baby sanctuary enjoying each other’s company until the peace is distriburbed when a malicious energy enters the room. Subaru turns around to see Kanato stand at the center of the room while glaring harshly at the walking infant.
“What the hell are you-!” Before Subaru could even finish his sentence, a blade is wielded and shoved through his lower abdomen. Subaru coughs up blood as his stomach bleeds out profusely. What the hell does he think he’s doing? Kanato reaches down to grab hold of Subaru’s neck, the blood from the blade and now his chin soaking the fourth son’s hand.
“You’re in my way.” With that, he tosses the youngest Sakamaki aside and approaches the baby girl. Ema feeling scared at the sight, starts to cry. Her voice carrying throughout the room and alerting her mother through the baby monitor.
Kanato simply looks toward the frightened child before reaching out to snap her neck.
“If you touch her, I’ll kill you.” A deep voice calls out from behind, sending involuntary shivers down Kanato’s spine. He refuses to show weakness though, keeping a blank face as he turns to the eldest Sakamaki.
“Shuu-San, why?” He asks.
Shuu doesn’t answer as he stares down Kanato with his deep royal blue eyes that burn intensely from within. Even if he didn’t show it, he cares; no one is going to harm Ema.
It only took moments before the tricked trio made it back to Yui’s room to observe the scene. Ema is continuing to cry while crawling over to Subaru’s bloody form. Yui gasps and runs over to her child and the young white haired vampire while Ayato and Laito make their way to stand behind their oldest half sibling.
Kanato sees this and feels his blood surge. Why? Why are they doing this? Why are they looking at him as if he’s in the wrong? Why can’t they see this baby is a menace? He doesn’t understand!
Kanato shoots a deadly glare at everyone in the room, but his gaze lingers on Yui trying to cradle the tiny little girl in her arms while fretting over an unconscious Subaru with tears also in her eyes.
Damn them.
Kanato swiftly leaves the scene, not wanting to fight all three brothers at once.
Ayato is the first to go over to Yui and checks over Subaru. Yui only cries silently while holding Ema to her chest, both feeling sorrowful and fearful for Subaru’s life. Laito moves and helps Ayato to remove Subaru from the floor to another location to treat his wounds. Shuu remains as the only source of comfort for the two blonde females. He sighs before taking them into his arms and moving them to the bed. Yui laid down with her face buried into Shuu’s chest as Ema whimpered between them.
Shuu could only pat Yui’s platinum blonde locks at the crown of her head, and put in one of his ear buds into her left ear.
By this time, Ema has drifted off between her two parents as they both basked in the silence and their presence. Yui needs this. Shuu is willing to give it. He guesses that he could stay for the night, at this point he didn’t trust himself to leave them alone.
