CHAPTER 1
SELENE’S POV
Let me take you on a journey through the cherished memories of my childhood, where I discovered the rich tapestry of my werewolf heritage alongside my best friend and loving family.
From a young age, I was enveloped in the warmth of my pack embrace. My parents, wise and nurturing, guided me through the traditions and customs that defined our werewolf lineage. They shared the stories of our ancestor's legacy and how Xadia was known to be a very strong wolf pack for ages across all the other realms of the land of moonlight. Being werewolves, we possess supernatural abilities. I was told that someday I would grow and learn to use them skillfully as I would someday become the alpha of The Xadian pack. Also, through my childhood adventures with my best friend Ruelle (Rue), I truly began to understand the power and significance of our heritage.
Together we would venture into the depths of the forests, where the moonlight would bath us in its transcendent glow. It was in those moments that we felt the ancient spirits of our ancestors whispering through the rustling leaves.
We would gather around the bonfire, our faces illuminated by dancing flames, as the elders recounted tales of our pack's triumph and trials. The air would be thick with anticipation as we listened, wide-eyed, to stories of shape-shifting prowess, fierce battles, and the unbreakable bond that connected us all.
As I grew older, I yearned to unlock the secrets of my own werewolf abilities. I was told that the abilities I had when I was younger could only be strengthened when I grew a little older. Especially my transformation. I yearned for the day I would learn how to finally have a full transformation.
Through laughter, tears and shared experiences, my best friend Ruelle ( Rue) became an integral part of my journey of self discovery. Together we unraveled the mysteries of our heritage, forging a bond that would withstand the tests of time and adversity. Rue and I were completely different. While Rue cared more about finding a mate, I cared more about being the alpha of our pack someday. Not like I didn’t have a mate in mind, but it wasn’t really what I cared about . All my life I’ve just always focused on being the alpha when the time came .
On my 18th birthday, excitement filled the air, as the pack gathered to celebrate. The scent of freshly baked treats wafted through the forest, mingling with the crisp autumn breeze. My heart danced with anticipation as I waited for the festivities to begin.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the clearing, my parents led me to the center. The pack formed a circle around us, their eyes filled with love and pride. It was a moment of pure joy, surrounded by the ones who would shape my future.
I blew out the candles on my cake, a sweet vanilla scent filling my nostrils. The pack erupted into cheers and applause, their voices harmonizing with the rustling leaves. At that moment, I felt a surge of gratitude for the family I had been born into. As the night wore on, I danced and played with the other young wolves, their laughter echoing through the trees.
I got a little exhausted from all the dancing and I decided to go get a drink. I went and got a boysenberry shake. My favorite, actually. I heard Rue calling me to where she was dancing with others and she gestured for me to come over . As I walked, I just kept my focus on the drink so I didn’t look straight ahead and, in a split second, I bumped into this random person and my drink spilled all over me. “Hey,, Watch where you’re going, Love”, I heard the person say in such a deep voice but it had a hitch of rudeness rather than concern. I look up and I’m met with a pair of midnight blue eyes adorning a stern and sharp jawline . Looks like what was sculpted by god. I’m lost in his confused gaze as he looks at me, wondering why I’m staring at him like that. That’s when I notice his white hair roughly arranged with more of his hair hanging from the left side of his head. “You’re not gonna say anything?” His hypnotic voice echoes through my ears, bringing me to reality . I look at his clothes and notice I had also got my drink all over him too. “ But you could have also watched where you were going too” I said to him, trying to keep a straight face . “You spilled a little something on my clothes Love” he says, gesturing rudely to his outfit “oh I’m sorry I didn’t notice over your attitude “ he heaves a sigh and says “alright fine I’m sorry I should have looked at my direction as well now please can you help me with a towel or something to clean this off” I smirk and say “If you put it this way sure just follow me napkins are this way” I wave my hands over to Rue telling her I’ll be with her I’m a few minutes. I escort this handsome stranger to where the napkins are kept I give him one of the napkins and take one for myself. We’re both trying to get the drink stains off and he says “The name’s Oclan. ” I nod and answer “Selene” “Selene as the birthday girl , Daughter of the Alpha and soon to be ruler of the Xadia pack, correct me if I’m wrong” . He says with a smirk and I reply “oh so you’ve been stalking,?“ “You’re pretty popular,, here love. Don’t get it mixed up I was just trying to lighten the mood a bit “ he says with a smile . That’s when I noticed he actually had a killer smile . It brings out his perfect jawline even more. I smile back and say “It was nice meeting you Olcan”. “The pleasure is all mine love and Happy birthday by the way “ he replies .“, thank you and sorry for the whole mess. I hope you enjoyed the party”, I say with a little smile and he says “the pleasure is mine but I must take my leave now”, I was kind of sad that he was leaving. I at least thought that I would get to spend a little time with him. He then said “I hope to see you again, Selene” . I nodded and extended my hand for a handshake. He takes it then turns his back to leave. Then I go to fine Rue and tell her why I took long and Typical Rue starts teasing, “ouuuh seems like Selenes got her mate tonight “ she says while winking and making annoying faces. “Oh stop it Rue i don’t think it’s him and besides I am not even looking for my mate now i just want to live a little bit more” I say to her. “Yeahh whatever just dance” she says and we both laugh and dance the whole night long . Till the party ends and I’m back in my room with Olcan being the last thought on my mind before I finally fall asleep
