CHAPTER 3

SELENE’S POV

Olcan and I are still running with the Chimera hot on our heels. Olcan then pulls us behind a tree to hide. “Why the hell didn’t you tell me there are Chimeras in the Everglade fields!!!??” I say in an angry whispered tone. “Well how would I possibly know that we’d see one today!?” He snaps back. I try to scold him more and he covers my mouth immediately as the Chimera passes us. The giant footsteps cause some of the leaves to fall off. Chimeras are a Dihybrid of a bird, a worm , and a fish. As such, they have a large size with abnormally large wings, the outer skin of a worm makes up its body and they possess fish gills.

“Look, the only way to get rid of that beast is to find something to distract it while we run” Olcan says, whispering as low as he could. I spotted a bunch of tiger lilies beside the tree. Chimeras can’t resist tiger lilies. They eat it and immediately it puts them into a deep sleep. I tried to tell Olcan about the tiger lilies but all i could do was muffle. Then I realized he still had his hand over my mouth. I gestured for him to take it off . “Oh sorry “ he says awkwardly. “Look, there are tiger lilies around and you know what it does to Chimeras? It puts them to sleep, so grab as many as you can so we can make a pile of enough for it to eat and then when it falls asleep we run away”. I say as fast as I can in a hushed tone. He nods, then we both start gathering the tiger lilies we see around the tree . Olcan peeps to see if the Chimera is still around. Luckily, it’s not so close. “It’s now or never “. I say to him, then he quickly runs from our hiding spot to place the lilies on the open grass for the Chimera to see and he returns in a split second. Shortly after, we hear the giant footsteps of the Chimera followed by munching and eating sounds . And then a loud thud . We turn around slowly and see the Chimera fast asleep. “We did it” Olcan says with a victorious smile, then he gestures for us to silently walk out of our hiding spot. We quietly move past the Sleeping Chimera and we sprint out of The Everglade fields alive get lucky.

Finally, we’re back to my home ( the alphas pride). We’re standing by the doorstep, then Olcan says “ you’re a fast learner.” I blush and once again I’m smitten by his eyes. “It’s only because I have the privilege of learning from the best “ I say with a smirk. “ You are so smart for figuring out the tiger lilies would do the job, with a few more lessons you’ll be ready to be the best alpha Xadia has ever known” He says gently. His voice made the compliment sound more majestic. At this point, I couldn’t stop staring at him . That feeling I had when we met at the party came back. “Thank you Olcan , I look forward to more lessons from you” . I say with a nice smile. “Well, see you at tomorrow’s class. “Just Selene” . He gives a polite little handshake and turns to leave. I watch as he walks away . Then I noticed a tiger lily at the back of his white hair. I laugh and just go inside .

As I walked down the hall saw father pacing looking all worried . I remember the heated conversation he had with Leidolf this morning and I imagine that was the cause of his stressed look. I go to greet him . “Hello father” . I say with a polite smile. “Selene dear, I trust that your training went well “ he says breaking out of his worried pacing. “Yes father , my trainer, Master Olcan, is really good. We trained at the Everglade fields”. I responded. “ I would like the pleasure of meeting this young man, I asked Leidolf to get him for you and I didn’t bother to meet with him myself, and also you will continue your next classes in the fields right here at home where the guard wolves practice, The Everglade fields are known for harboring beasts during this season” he says in a commanding and polite tone. No wonder we saw a Chimera today, but I don’t bother telling father just not to worry him. “Alright father , and mother?” I ask “she is resting up, you should do same” he says “Okay, father have a good rest too “ I leave my father and head straight for my room and I see him heading toward the study again .

I get to my room , take off my clothes and get into the bathroom for a warm bath. I sit in the tub just thinking about Olcan. I know it’s starting to get weird the way I think about him, but I just can’t help it. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to him. From his enchanting midnight blue eyes to his hair as white as winters snow . Ughhhhh . I honestly can’t wait for another lesson from Olcan he seems like such a powerful werewolf, almost having the personality of an alpha.

I get out of the bath tub proceeding to dry out my hair and my body . Afterwards, I slipped into my night gown and lay on my bed. Soon after I’m asleep.

I drift off into another realm. I’m running through a field and I can hear howls of wolves all around me. I keep running, then I see my house on fire. I try to scream to see if my parents are inside . “Mother , father!!!! Can anyone hear me” , I scream with teary eyes . I see a werewolf with eyes all red in full form holding another werewolf by the throat. They’re both standing on the roof top but I can’t really make out who it is. Then the rest eyed werewolf throws the other down from the roof of my burning house . The body lands with a loud thud . I try to make out who it is but I can’t see who it is all I know is that my chest starts hurting like as though I know who was thrown down. I start crying hysterically. Everywhere starts getting filled with smoke. I turn around to try to leave the premises , I call out to my mother and father but I still can’t see them. I call out to Ruelle but she’s no where to be seen too. I start calling out to other wolves of our pack but no one responds. All I can see is that the fire has spread to most parts of Xadia . I try to make my way out then I notice im bleeding from my stomach as though I was just in a fight. I collapse to the floor but I feel someone picking me up . I open my eyes slightly in such strong arms to see fiery hazel eyes but I couldn’t quite make out the face. I finally fall unconscious again……..
