Chapter 14 - Royals

Charle’s POV

The situation surrounding Logan and his mate had me baffled.  Packs regularly reported to me but why hadn’t Night Pack reported Leah was missing or dead.  Thomas had always been a strong Beta and I had full confidence in him when I put him in the position of temporary Alpha until Leah could take over with her mate.  Nothing made sense to me.

I was brought out of my thoughts by my phone. It was Logan calling which I had been expecting since I knew Leah’s birthday was today.  “Morning old man” I answered.  “Old man? you're older than me” Logan replied.  “By two weeks, but you look older” I laughed.  “Charles, I need you to come here for the moon festival and give our pack your blessing” Logan said.  It took me a minute to realize Logan was talking in code something we had created when we were younger.  “Alright is it safe for me to bring Rose with me?” I asked.  Rose was my mate and the Queen Luna.  “Yes,”  Logan replied.  “Perfect we will leave soon and be there tonight”  I hung up the phone, whatever he learned was important enough to warrant a visit.  I mindlink Rose to let her know we were going.  

It was still bugging me that Thomas hadn’t reported Leah missing so I picked up the phone and called him “Thomas, how is everything” I said as soon as he answered the phone “Im not complaining” Thomas replied.  “Thomas according to my calendar today is Leah’s birthday, did she shift last night?  Any sign of her finding her mate?”  Thomas was silent for a moment.  “My King Leah ran away nine months ago, she was so distraught over the loss of her parents, one day I went to talk to her and her stuff was missing and she was gone”  I growled “Why was this note reported Thomas!”  “My King I was sure that she just needed some time to grieve and would come back to shift but she hasn’t so I was going to call you today to report it” Thomas replied.

Something didn't feel right about his story but I played along until we could uncover the truth.  “Fine Thomas I understand, let me know if she returns and I’ll inform the other packs to watch out for her”.  I hung up the phone with Thomas and headed out for our journey to the Eclipse Pack.

Logan’s POV

I set out to get everything ready for the King and Queen’s arrival, immediately mindlinking Dean and Chris.  Once security was set I mindlink the pack house head omega and told her to prepare for their arrival.  Our pack house had four stories, on the first floor was our pack kitchen, dining room, entertainment area and a small ballroom for events.  The third floor housed the higher ranking families and Elders, the top floor was for pack members usually the unmated or members who didn’t want to locate into a house.  The second floor was the Alpha and Luna floor, it had our room, our offices, and guest rooms for important guests as well as a living area and a few meeting rooms.  

Around the pack house were many houses for pack members.  For a pack we had a lot of land but besides our little village and the coven village most of it was not used.  Many of my ancestors had made plans to build more but it never seemed to happen.  We have random houses along the border for Warriors to use while on shift but that was the extent of our pack.

After I finished getting everyone updated on our Royal arrival Leah came in through the bedroom door.  “Love, how was your bath?” I asked.  She smiled and came over and sat on my lap.  “We have visitors arriving tonight” I told her.  “Who?” Leah asked, putting her arms around me.  “The Alpha King and Luna Queen are on their way, I need to update the King on your shift but I am concerned whether it is safe to talk so he’s coming here to meet with me”.  Leah looked a little unsure, “It’s okay my Love there are just a lot of things that don't make sense about your k********g”.  “What do you mean?” she asked.  I stood up picking Leah up with me.  “Let's take a walk and talk” I replied, generally putting her down.  

Leah’s POV

I was nervous, I felt strong since my shift but this was the first time I was going out besides to shift last night.  Logan took my hand and guided me out of the pack house, last night I was so nervous I didn’t even look around.  Everything was beautiful but there was only the pack house and some homes around.  My pack was like its own little town, this was more and housing community.  I took in all the sights as Logan led me towards the trees, there was a path that we followed.  

After a 10 minute walk we came to a beautiful garden.  “This is my secret garden or it was my Mom’s secret garden.  It is spelled so only the high ranking wolves in the pack can see it and no one can see or hear us here” Logan explained.  He led me to a bench and sat down pulling me to sit beside him.  “Leah, I need you to tell me about Thomas,” Logan said, wrapping me in his arms.  “What do you mean? He’s my Uncle and took care of me when my parents died”.  “Do you trust him?” Logan asked.  “Yes, does he know I was rescued?  Why hasn’t he come here yet?”.  “Leah that’s the problem, Thomas didn’t even notify the Alpha King of your disappearance, when we released the list of wolves rescued he didn’t inquire if you were on the list, it doesn’t make sense”.  I sat deep in thought.  Something must have happened to my Uncle this wasn’t like him, he was my only family why didn’t he notice I was gone.  

Logan left me in my silence for a bit before he finally spoke “Leah the Alpha King will be here soon, I’m sure he has some answers don’t worry we will figure this out”.  Logan stood up pulling me with him and we made our way back to the pack house to get ready for the Royal Arrival.
