Chapter 16 Announcement

Logan’s POV

After a long evening with Charles and Rose, Leah and I were finally settling in for the night.  Now that Leah knows she’s my mate she welcomes cuddling into me which calms me.  I am careful not to go further. I know I need to control Lee.  

“How was your meeting with Charles? Did you two figure anything else out?” Leah said snuggling into me.  “We did but I’m not sure how you will feel about it”.  Leah tried to pull away but I held her firmly in place.  “Logan what is it?”.  I sighed “I know Thomas is your only family but until we rule him out as a suspect we can’t move on further, there’s so many unanswered questions but we don’t want to ask him in case he is a risk.  My focus is on your safety and until we know why you were kidn*pped and if it has to do with your wolf I feel your safety is at risk”.  Leah was silent but I could feel her anxiety “Leah you are everything to me I never thought after losing my parents I could have this kind of love and I will do everything to protect you and keep you safe”.  Leah relaxed finally, “Logan you’ve never told me about what happened to your parents”, “I know Love and I will but not right now”.  Leah turned her head and kissed my cheek, that was all I needed to fall into a peaceful sleep.

Come the morning I decided to leave the talk about Thomas alone when it came to Leah, what was the main focus right now was to help Leah learn her powers so we could safely be mated.  We planned our announcement party to happen in four nights; everything was already planned thanks to the help of Rose and Angela and the coven had cast a stronger protection spell around the territory.  Charles had been working with the architects on plans for a larger bunker and Dean had the Warriors training harder, Charles and I decided to get in on the action every morning, something about having Charles around always made me more competitive.  

Rose and Angela were working with Leah on her powers, she quickly mastered her mind link power, she could easily read minds and intention which made me crazy but luckily Angela provided me with a Cedar Spruce bracelet that blocked her from reading my mind.  They were working on her new power invisibility which was comical to watch because if she sneezed she would disappear.  Angela and Rose decided it would be safer to cast a spell binding all members of the pack to speak about Leah’s wolf or powers, we couldn’t keep her hidden and I couldn’t keep being the guinea pig for all her magic.  Tonight was the announcement, news always travelled fast, so I knew it wouldn’t be long before Thomas started sniffing around.  The more I learned the less I trusted he was Leah’s faithful Uncle.  

Charles and I were getting ready for the party in his guest room because Rose and Angela had kicked me out of mine and Leah’s room.  “So the plan is to use her first name only, this will peak Thomas’s interest” Charles said as he was helping me with my tie.  I nodded, I would be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous.  Charles excused himself to go collect Rose as the Royals decided it was their job to announce Leah and I and present the announcement toast.   This usually is the parents job, but neither Leah or I had parents so this was the next best option.  I wished my parents had been alive to see this, they were always proud of me and losing them took a lot out of me.

I exited the room and headed to the top of the stairs where Leah was to meet me.  I didn’t have to wait long for her and even if I had she would have been worth the wait!

Leah’s POV

These last few days Rose, Angela and I have been locked away in Logan and my bedroom while they had been teaching me to use my powers.  Logan was more than happy to help until I got my mind and intention reading powers than he hid from me.  I knew Logan had things he wasn’t ready to share and to be fair so did I so I wasn’t upset when Angela provided him with the cedar sprue bracelet to prevent me from reading his mind.  Eventually we would have no secrets but now wasn’t the time.

Angela had many other tasks around the pack so Rose quickly became another best friend to me.  It killed me that I couldn’t take to my friends from my pack but I knew eventually this would pass.  Rose was great to talk to though being a hybrid wolf and white witch she understood the challenges I was facing now.  She often knew how I was feeling before I even did.  Occasionally I would express my concerns with Charles and Logan's plan to catch Thomas but Rose explained that if Thomas was truly not behind my k********g he would understand.  I knew Thomas and eventually I had to agree with Rose, it just hurt to even consider he might have been involved.  

Rose was excited to help me along with Angela get ready for the announcement party, she didn’t have many friends growing up being a hybrid and didn’t feel close to anyone at the Royal Pack.  I had attended many events growing up but this one made me nervous.  After the three of us had finished our hair and makeup Rose excused herself to meet Charles to start the party.  Angela stayed back to help me dress, this was my first grown up gown, everything I had ever worn until now was frilly and puffy.  My dress was blush pink with a deep drop v cut neckline, it had mesh in between so there weren't any slip malfunctions.  The back was also low cut.  Angela applied some double sided tape just to be sure it didn't slip.  The bottom of the dress flared out in a light a-line to the floor and there were beads sewn in through the entire dress to make it shimmer.  It really took my breath away.  “You better get going or Logan might think you climbed through the bathroom window” Angela said as she was gentle pushing me to the door.  I took the hint and headed out.

I just kept telling myself to breathe… that was until I saw Logan standing at the top of the stairs waiting for me.  My knee went weak, he always looked incredible but seeing him there in this light to my breath away.  Logan quickly came forward and wrapped his arms around my waist pressing his nose into my neck “Love I have really held myself back since I met you, but you really are pushing my patients now” Logan growled into my ear.  I laughed and pressed a kiss into his cheek.  “Would you do the honor of being my escort tonight?” I asked, feeling like a silly school girl.  Logan sighed and straightened up looping my arm through his “It would be my honor” Logan smiled and led me to the packs ballroom.
