I walked into the living room in Jean bum shorts, a white crop top, and a pattern of long socks.
Micheal sitting on a couch, engrossed in watching his favorite TV show. He had come back from work earlier than normal
I laid down on the couch with my head on his lap. I held my phone up to check if any of the ladies had replied to my message.
I’d check for various event centers or activities coming up that we could go to but I feel very overwhelmed and can’t make a decision.
Choosing a location to celebrate was so difficult for me, maybe because, it has been a long time since I had a birthday party with five to six people in attendance.
The last time I had an elaborate birthday party was when I was a kid, not that I do not value the time spent with Micheal for my birthdays, but he honestly does his best to make it memorable for me.
Micheal has always been a husband who takes every bit of me seriously, three years ago, he bought me the car that have always talked about as a gift for my birthday, I didn’t even see it coming and it made me happy.
My phone rang and it was a group video call from the ladies. I stood up from the couch and went to the kitchen table to pick up the call.
“Hello ladies,” I said waving my hand
“Hi” they both chorused
“How are you guys doing” I said
“We are fine,” Angela said carrying Jessie on her lap
“Am fine too” Felicia said turning her phone to James who was fast asleep on the bed
“Oh girl, you are very fine, I see that vividly,” I said smiling
“You are unrepentant,” Angela said snarling while she put Jessie down
Felicia laughed so hard “So what's the plan Bri”
“Have checked for some interesting places online. Napa Valley has a gorgeous scenario and offers varieties of good food and wines, Yosemite National Park too is very nice, with some splendid beaches and the last one that got me the most is Disneyland”
“Have been to Yosemite Park before with Jessie, I do love it, it's a fun place” Angela said
“Honestly have not been to any of these locations before, it made me think of how boring my life is,” Felicia said using her palm to hit her forehead
“Honestly me too, I practically don’t go nowhere, too bad,” I said looking sober
“Hey ladies, it's not too late we can have all the fun now. Disneyland is a great place though, have been wanting to go there” Angela said excitedly
“Yeah, it's a colorful place, it will enable us to be in touch with our inner child and it will feel like we were never on a break,” I said beaming
“Correct!” Felicia said nodding her head
“Do we plan to stay for two days or just for a day so we would know how to get the ticket?” Angela inquired
“I didn’t think of that before at all,” I said
“But why don’t we stay for two days since your birthday is on Saturday we would get back on Sunday” Felicia suggested
“A night is not a bad idea, Angela hope you don’t mind,” I said
“Definitely,” she said
“Then it is settled, we have one day to make the plan. I will the ticket online” I said
“Okay that's nice, so we won’t bother to get the ticket at the venue,” Angela said
“So Felicia you should invite James on my behalf, I hope he is not busy”
“Nop he is not, he is at my place till whenever,” Felicia said smiling
“Good for you,” Angela said with a thumbs up, smiling too
“We have one day to start planning, I have to start packing, Bridgett you should tell Nicholas,” Angela said
“I will that’s no problem, I think we are seven in number, am I right?” I inquired
“Yes I think so, the three of us, Micheal, James, Nicholas, and Jessie
Felicia answered
“It settles then,” I said
“Jessie Park does toys from the floor now” Angela barked “Am sorry that girl has the habit of littering everywhere, she has been stressing me continuously, I don’t have much peace even though I’d eventually decided to take a break from work,” Angela said
“Sorry dear, she will outgrow it,” I said with concern on my face, raising a kid alone must be strenuous
“Thank you, Bridgett,” she said
“You going to be okay, you are a super mom,” Felicia said making a fist
“Thank you dear,” Angela said again
“Since all is settled, I will update you guys through text. Am so grateful, for the time you guys spared for me, thank you” I said blowing them kisses
“You are welcome,” Felicia said smiling
“Jessie come say bye to Auntie Felicia and Auntie Bridgett” Angela summoned Jessie
“Bye,” Jessie said waving one hand with toys in another
“Bye Jessie,” Felicia said waving also
“Bye Jessie,” I said smiling “You guys should have a blissful day” I waved then tapped on the red button
I stood up stretching my body and yawning. I walked into the living room and I met Micheal eating.
“Micheal, you are eating without me,” I said falling beside him on the couch
“That was a long call,” he said with a mouthful
“yes, it is, that's not what am talking about, you are eating without me, am so famished, when did you order this?” I asked
“A few minutes ago,” he answered
“With this pack of juice?”
“No, I brought it from the fringe”
“Do you mean you passed by me and I didn’t see you”
“Yes, you must be very engrossed in your chats”
“Wow,” I said raising my brows
“You can have the second burger, come live the good life with me,” he said with a smirk on his face
“Whatever am taking it anyway,” I said grabbing the snack
