Chapter 23

"Why would he be at your game!?" Odell eyed Massy with a frowned he was confused at Massy and Colin being best friends. "Because, I invited him." Massy was also confused, she didn't see the big deal nor did she pay attention to any of the stories that were being posted and their rumored romance. Massy could Odell was beyond frustrated and that wasn't the answer he wanted or was expecting. "Are you serious right now? Your mad because I gave four tickets to MY game to a FRIEND. Tickets that nobody was using and were going to go to waste!" "Ace, have you not seen the stories posted about you two?" "Yes, I have and that's not my fault, I can't help what tabloids put out because they see me with a friend. A FRIEND that I knew well before I knew you, and he is STILL a friend." Massy said in her defense. Though she was telling the truth Odell's male driven ego had already begun to show. He teeth clinched together. "Have you f****d him?" Odell asked quietly. A question to an answer that he wanted to know and didn't want to know all at the same time. Massy's eyes widened, her eyebrows nearly touched her hairline. "Excuse me?" Odell closed his eyes the muscles in his jaw were pulled so tight his mouth begun to hurt. Did you, or have you ever f****d him?" He asked quietly. He was calm and waited for her answer. "Wow, you're serious. I can't believe you, that you would think I was interested in him..." "Answer it..." Odell said again, cutting her off. Massy took a step back and frowned, she remained quiet for several minutes. She couldn't believe she was being questioned about her loyalty especially when she never questioned his, she had never given him a reason to think she was stepping out on him. She swallowed and looked down at the engagement ring on her hand and pulled it from her finger. "You can have this back if you even THINK you have to question me..." She slid it across the kitchen counter. The ring twirled multiple times before laying flat on the counter. "And no, I didn't nor have I EVER f****d Colin." Massy picked up her duffel bag that still remained unpacked and placed it over her shoulder, she grabbed her car keys and made her way down the steps and out the door. Odell's pride wouldn't let him stop her, he didn't want to look any more stupid than he already did, the sound of his front door closed and his head immediately went into his hand. He didn't realize how uncomfortable and how embarrassed he had made her feel just by that simple question. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You gave the ring back!?" Mari's eyes widened in surprise and confusion. "Yes. I don't want it if he's going to act like this." Massy said with a serious face. Mari frowned as she watched her navigate through the kitchen. Tall windows allowed an endless amount of sunlight. "I spent a lot of time picking that damn diamond out, woman." She said. This was not the time for Mari or her smartass sarcasm. Sometimes even Mari didn't know when she was joking or not. Massy shot Mari a very cold scowl. Mari's hands went up in defense. "Ok ok. I'm sorry... So what no talking it out? This is it? Or is this a break?" "Yes, I gave the ring back. I don't want anything to do with him if he can't trust me the way I trust him. I didn't do anything wrong. It was the media that took it too far." Mari chewed on the inside of her cheek and pressed her lips together. "Did you tell Odell that?" The loud sound of the ice machine that was built into the refrigerator stopped, she turned around and set her cup on the counter and frowned at Mari. "I shouldn't have too." She simply said. Odell began feeling the absence of Massy's presence, she made her way back to California, but refused to stay in the home she and Odell shared there, his text messages and phone calls to her went unanswered, and they would remain that way unless he was offering an apology, but even then that wasn't enough, this was the second time Odell would question her loyalty, not realizing he didn't need to. Odell himself hated when the media made up stories regarding him, but he just could make difference when regarding Massy. Scrolling through current events and social media, seeing photos of Massy and a few fellow teammates enjoying game five of the NBA finals at Oracle Arena surfaced. Odell frowned, she looked unbothered in the photos, happy, enjoying life and she had no reason not too other than her and Odell being in whatever break they were currently on she was fine and she would do her best to remain that way. The fact that she was in public with no ring only gave the media more of a story to continue the Colin Kaepernick rumors they started, and they'd continue to add onto them the more Massy hung out and about around town. The excitement of The Warriors winning game six at home sent the Oracle Arena into a frenzy. A sea of blue and gold filled every corner. Athletes and entertainers crowded the wide halls that led backstage to the arena. Interviews went on about what this celebrity and that celebrity thought about the game. "Where we going!?" Massy smiled showing her deep dimples looking up at the familiar voice. "We!?" She said forcing wide eyes but keeping her smile as she watched him get closer. "You French now!?" He quickly looked around her noticing the women of her team, then looked down at her hand and noticed her ring was gone. "Yup! WE! Where WE going? I'm going wit you!" He opened his arms for a hug. Massy complied with his gesture, her 5'8, 146 frame paled in comparison to his 6'5, 194. He towered over her even more than Odell did, even more than Colin did. "You come anywhere with me, you paying!" Massy said smiling and pressing her body to his. He released her but grabbed her hand. "I'on got no money! I'm broke!" He joked quickly shaking his hand. Massy c****d her head back. "Says a man that's up for a 50 million dollar re-sign!" "Daaaaamn Ace! All in my pockets!" He forced a frown to keep himself from laughing but failed. "Exactly... Still wanna go?" Massy said pressing her lips together. He wrapped her arm around her shoulder and leaned in. "Stop playin, I'll follow you wherever." Massy couldn't help but feel flattered at the small but cute flirting session. But she still kept distance between her distance from the second season NBA shooting/point guard. She smiled and pushed him off of her. "Oh my god. Goodbye!" She said rolling her eyes.
