Chapter 24

1078 Words
Kobe introduced Massy to Jordan many times whenever she would go to a Lakers game. The two quickly became friends but out of respect for her relationship with Odell she didn't hang out with him, unless it was sports related, there honestly wasn't any reason for her to hang out with him. The last time he saw her was at Kobe's last game, and retirement party. If it wasn't for him already knowing she was in a relationship with someone he would of showed how fond of her he was a long time ago, but Massy was now split from Odell, a break. Jordan had no reason not to continue his flirting with her. The rooftop eventually got quieter and quieter, the space grew empty, outside sounds took over what was once loud music and friendly conversations. Massy slouched down on the wide comfortable couch, her feet propped up on the heavy wooden table that was covered with red party cups. Jordan's body was so long he didn't need to prop his feet up, just his knees alone touched the table. His arm lightly touched hers as the two of them sat next to one another. "You are re-signing, right?" Massy eyed him with a frown. "Not even a question. I can't see myself anywhere else. I'm tryna do this s**t like Kobe... Stay with one team for twenty years." Jordan said with a slight smile looking straight ahead. "I think we all wanna do it how Kobe did it." Massy agreed. Jordan went silent, he leaned his head back resting it on the top of the couch, not interested in seeing a black city sky that held no stars he closing his eyes. "What's going on with this." He tapped Massy's bare left ring finger. She looked down at his long index finger resting on hers. "If you don't mind me asking?" It was her turn to go silent, she hesitated with a explanation for so long Jordan figured she didn't want to talk about it. "...Sometimes things don't work..." "Sometimes things don't work or..." He hinted at her knowing there was more. The drama the media conjured up about Colin and Massy eventually died down once Colin confirmed he was very much already in a relationship and that Massy had always been a friend and nothing more. Which only made Odell look and feel even more like an i***t. She looked over at Jordan his eyes still closed the alcohol he had been drinking begun to settle causing him to completely relax but he was still very much aware of his surroundings. "As loyal as I am, he should of never questioned me. I've been cheated on and I know how that s**t feels. It's embarrassing. I'd never put somebody I'm f*****g with in that type of light, let alone myself, I don't have time to cheat and keep up a story... I don't have time for that s**t, nor would I want to." Massy confessed. Jordan finally removed his index finger from on top of her ring finger. Her finger grew cold once the warmth of his was gone. "Sometimes you gotta give s**t a rest before you jump to the next phase. If it's meant to be that s**t will come back." Massy frowned then rolled her eyes. "You got some nerve, the way you be running through super models... You not giving anything a rest." Jordan smiled then let out a small laugh. His tired ridden voice had grown deeper than usual. The past few months he was in the media not for his leading basketball skills or offseason workouts, he was making top stories for going back and forth with ex girlfriend super model Chanel Iman and Kendall Jenner. Jordan's smile grew wider, Massy watched him swallow causing his Adam's apple to bob up and down. "Probably because I don't have anything in my life pertaining to a relationship to make me want to give anything a rest." Jordan finally opened his eyes and looked a Massy his head still laying back. She frowned at him, she didn't want to assume he was suggesting anything so she took it a simple confession. He went silent not wanting to over push his boundaries with her. "So why don't you find something. Or do you just not want to be in that deep of a relationship?" Massy's curiosity got the best of her. He closed his eyes again. "It's not a matter of finding her nor do I care how deep the relationship is, it's more of replacing my words with actions. I won't waste time on something that is useless." "So how do you know when you are wasting your time or when a relationship is useless?" Massy's curiosity grew bigger. She went from not wanting to talking about relationships to a full blow conversation in them. Jordan licked his lips, then opened his eyes again and looked at her. "If I don't learn anything during and or after the relationship, then time was wasted. A relationship should never stunt your growth nor should it backtrack you and that's not just with love, that's with friends, business, with life in general." It might as well have been Kobe Bryant himself telling Massy this. She could tell Jordan spent a majority of his time getting advice from his form teammate and basketball legend. Her face had a permanent frown, he could tell she was thinking, she was thinking hard, on wether or not she had learned anything. One thing she did know was that Odell's insecurities had stunted the current growth of their relationship, which was why she no longer had a ring on her finger. Jordan eyed her then tossed his arm around her shoulder bringing her in closer to him, she tensed up then relaxed once she realized he wasn't making a move and that he was simply consoling her. "You'll be iigh. Don't think to hard about it. Focus on what you need to and if it's meant to be s**t will come back bigger, better, and stronger." Massy took a deep breath in listening to him speak. Her head rested on his chest. His heartbeat was extremely slow, but his body temperature was as warm as it was outside, the masculine sent of his cologne begun to take over her nostrils and her own perfume. Massy looked down at her bare hand and pressed her lips together shaking her head.
